Location

During this vacation, you will be staying in Athens, the capital of Greece (and capital of Attica region as well). It takes no more than one-hour by hydrofoil to Pireaus and then the Athens metro takes you to most popular places. Athens is one of the world’s oldest cities with a recorded history spanning around 3400 years. This city was the cradle of Western civilization and the birthplace of most sciences and democracy. Athens is home to two UNESCO heritage sites.

The Acropolis is an ancient citadel located on a high rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and containing the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. It is a must see attraction.

Next to this monument, with its undisputable charm, Plaka is one of the most frequented places by visitors and natives alike. Plaka's winding pathways carry thousands of years of history. Walk amongst the buildings whose facades are dressed in 19th century neoclassical design and architecture. Dine at one or several of its restaurants. And explore the ancient monuments, contemporary museums and traditional souvenir shops.

You can also see a monument called Ancient Agora/Monastiraki and it was the center of commercial and business life in ancient times would later give rise to the buzzing shopping district that surrounds it today. Also, it worth visiting the Acropolis Museum, The Houses of the Greek Parliament, and the Panathinaiko Stadium (where the first modern Olympics took place).
