Program

Day 1, Saturday: Bishkek city - Burana Tower - Chon Kemin Valley

Today you start to learn about the legendary epic “Manas”. In the morning, depart to Burana tower to observe the horse riding and traditional games such as Kok Boru loved by hero Manas. In the afternoon, transfer to Chon Kemin Valley, and check-in to accommodation in a yurt camp. Get to know the story of the encounter between Manas and Khan Koshoi.

Day 2, Sunday: Chon Kemin Valley - Karkyra Valley

Early in the morning, you could try to milk the cows in the way nomads did. Transfer to Karkyra Valley via the southern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake. Arrive and check in to the accommodation at the yurt camp. Take part in preparing a traditional “Ash”, as was described in the story about Khan Koketey.

Day 3, Monday: Karkyra Valley

A day in Karkyra, you will learn about the contests held in honor of Koketey and watch the traditional Jailoo games as “Toguz Korgool” and “Ordo”.

Day 4, Tuesday: Karkyra Valley - Karakol Town

Transfer to Karakol town. A boat cruise on the Issyk-Kul lake and listening to the story of how Manas drew his strength from the lake. Meeting a traditional epic-teller – Manaschy who will share his secrets and demonstrate his art skills.

Day 5, Wednesday: Karakol - Jeti Oguz Gorge - Fairytale Canyon - South Shore of Issyk-Kul Lake

Today you visit a place where Manas prepared his warriors for the battles. Go on an excursion to picturesque Jeti Oguz Gorge and Fairytale Canyon. Do archery, demonstration of hunting with a golden eagle. Dinner and overnight stay in a yurt camp.

Day 6, Thursday: Issyk-Kul Lake - Bishkek City

Learn about the yurt producing in Kyzyl Tuu and attend the master class on making shyrdaks in Bokonbaevo village. Transfer back to Bishkek.

Kyrgyzstan is a small mountainous country in the heart of Central Asia, bordering China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. Kyrgyzstan has no access to the sea. More than three-quarters of the territory is occupied by mountains.

Food

The package includes daily breakfast, 1 lunch, and 4 dinners as well as mineral water (1 liter per day per person).

Food in Kyrgyzstan is strictly connected with the country’s nomadic traditions and influenced by food from Russia, Turkey, the Middle East, and other Central Asian countries. The staples of the Kyrgyz diet, and the diets of most of the traditionally nomadic people in Central Asia, are boiled mutton, flat, crusty round bread, rice and tea mixed with sheep or horse milk. Kyrgyz are very fond of horsemeat. Sour cream, yogurt and sausage are used to flavor dishes. Kyrgyz like soupy food. The sort of food that is eaten in the form of pasta by Russians is eaten as a soup by Kyrgyz.
