Join your cowboy experience today and experience it with the world-famous Arizona Cowboy College!
You will spend the first two days at Lorill Equestrian Center. Students will stay in travel trailers or bunkhouses located on the Lorill Equestrian Center grounds. Then, you will spend the next three days at a working cattle ranch in Arizona (the ranch site varies with each session).
Arizona Cowboy College tries to schedule the classes to coincide with round-ups but because of the nice weather, the cattle calve year round. Arizona Cowboy College is a real working ranch and so are the ranchers they help. For this reason, there are no guarantees that you will only gather cattle. You do not stage cattle. You will work the cattle at headquarters but once you arrive at the ranch, you will assist with whatever needs to be done. Arizona Cowboy College limits the class size to six students so you will have a more focused group.
As featured in People Magazine, "this course is like no other," you will not just "play" cowboy for a week but also you will learn how to "be" a cowboy. The course studies are rigorous and comprehensive:
You will spend the first two days at Lorill Equestrian Center. Students will stay in travel trailers or bunkhouses located on the Lorill Equestrian Center grounds. Then, you will spend the next three days at a working cattle ranch in Arizona (the ranch site varies with each session). At some ranches, you will camp out at a remote line shack. The only way to get to the shack is to ride in and ride out. You need to pack all of the essentials on pack horses, so please pack lightly. You need to plan on 'roughing it'. This will be a very hard work and can be very dangerous to both you and your mount. You must be in good health. If you are inured, a help is very far away. However, Arizona Cowboy College does carry a cellular phone for major emergencies.
Arizona Cowboy College has excellent horses, saddles, and gear for all students. They realize, however, that some of the students prefer to use their own horse or their own equipment. This is okay as long as they are safe. Arizona Cowboy College does not want to see anyone hurt because of bad equipment or a bad horse. They will provide feed and board for the students' horses for all five days of the course. The first two days at Lorill Equestrian Center, you will work hard with every horse to get them ready for a round-up camp. If at this time you and the instructors agree that your horse is not going to make it, you will be moved to a school horse.
This schedule is to give you an idea of a typical week's activities. Daily schedules may and often do vary from session to session depending on the season and what ranch Arizona Cowboy College is working.
Note: Private sessions may be scheduled for groups of three or more. Arizona Cowboy College will select your requested dates if they are available. Please send an inquiry for more information.
