Program

Day 1: Travel from Windhoek to Swakopmund

On this day, you will be picked up at 7:15 a.m. and taken to the Chameleon Safaris Office for a short pre-departure briefing followed by an 8:30 a.m. departure. You will be taken to the Walvis Bay Lagoon via Okahandja and Usakos where you can see flamingos and multiple species of wetland birds. Then, you will have a light lunch there and then depart again for Swakopmund and will be arriving in the midafternoon.

You will have plenty of time to get to know this peaceful seaside town on foot and go out to dinner on your own tonight at the restaurant of your choice. You will meet up with other guests who will be joining the group to Sossusvlei.

Accommodation will be in twin sharing basis with private bathroom.

Day 2: Travel to the Desert Camp near Sesriem

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Swakopmund at around 11:15 a.m. for a quick pre-departure briefing (in winter, pick-up will be at 10:15 a.m.). You will board your vehicle and travel towards Solitaire passing by the Kuiseb Canyon and Ghaub Pass along the way. A light lunch will be served on board on that day and you will continue driving until you reach the camp in the late afternoon.

Take a moment for a short walk to stretch your legs and admire the beautiful sunset over the Naukluft Mountains in the distance. Your guide will prepare dinner for you by the campfire and you will have a chance to get to know the rest of your group members.

You will overnight in the permanent ‘adobe’ style tents with private bathrooms.

Day 3: Excursions around the Desert Camp near Sesriem

On this day, you will rise early for a quick breakfast and depart the camp around dawn so you can reach the park entrance at sunrise. You will drive down an ancient riverbed lined by towering sand dunes to reach the parking lot where you will transfer to a four-wheel drive shuttle.

You will ride into the Sossusvlei area and spend the morning enjoying the serenity of this region as you walk around on foot. Go into the Deadvlei with its large surreal expanse of dried and cracked clay floor with dried up dead trees surrounded by giant sand dunes.

You will walk back or take a four-wheel drive shuttle to the parking lot where you will transfer to your vehicle that will take you back towards your camp. Along the way, you will have the chance to stop at the famous Dune 45 for a short walk around the base. If you are feeling adventurous, you can hike to the top for spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding desert.

You will return back to Sesriem to visit one of the region’s few permanent water sources at the Sesriem Canyon. You will arrive back to the lodge in the late afternoon after a full day of activity. Then, you will have dinner on this night with your group and then get a good night’s rest in twin shared rooms or permanent tents with private bathrooms.

Day 4: Return to Windhoek

You will rise early again in the morning for a quick breakfast before departing to Solitaire Guest Farm, where you will have the chance to track wild cheetahs with a professional biologist guide at the N/a’an ku sê Wildlife Sanctuary. After that, you will hop back in the vehicle for your final journey to Windhoek passing through Bullsport and Rehoboth, arriving in the late afternoon.

You will be dropped off at your accommodation. Bamba Experience recommends staying the night in Windhoek on this night, in case you should experience unforeseen delays. If you must travel, please make sure to book your flights after 5:00 p.m.
