The beauty of the Australian camp is that it is nestled at an impressive elevation of 2060 meters above sea level in the enchanting Pokhara region of Nepal. The Australian Camp beckons with its unparalleled beauty.
The real name of Australian Camp is actually “Thulo Kharka” meaning big pasture. It used to be a seasonal herding place for buffalo and cow herders from the villages below Dhampus and others. It is believed that during the 80s, citizens from Austria found the place beautiful. And they used to come here often for camping. Thus, the people began to call the place “Austrian Camp”. But for the local people, it was difficult to pronounce that so they started calling it Australian Camp.
