Location

Bhutan is a small and landlocked nation located in the eastern Himalayas between India and China. Its landscape ranges from subtropical plains and forests in the south to subalpine forests and snowy mountains in the north. Bhutan is a predominantly Buddhist country and is known as the last stronghold of Mahayana Buddhism.

Bhutan or the ‘Land of the Thunder Dragon’ may have shed centuries of self-imposed isolation, but it keeps reinventing itself as a unique nation with an identity of its own. Today, Bhutan is the world’s youngest democracy, gifted to the people by the beloved Fourth King himself. Bhutan's guiding development philosophy is Gross National Happiness.

Tradition, culture, as well as the environment are zealously guarded and religion is a way of life. Bhutan ranks among the world’s top travel destinations, but very few visitors make the journey. It has to do with the Kingdom’s ‘high value, low volume’ tourism policy, designed to preserve the nation’s rich cultural heritage. Those who visit might discover a land and people set in a rare balance of modernity and tradition, beauty, and harmony.

During this tour, you will visit several cities of the beautiful Bhutan which are Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Trongsa, Bumthang, Mongar, Trashigang, Trashiyangtse, and Samdrup Jongkhar.

Food

During this tour, you will be served all meals in a buffet. The most distinctive characteristic of Bhutanese cuisine is its spiciness. Chillis are an essential part of nearly every dish and are considered so important that most Bhutanese people would not enjoy a meal that was not spicy.

Rice forms the main body of most Bhutanese meals. It is accompanied by one or 2 side dishes consisting of meat or vegetables. Pork, beef, and chicken are the meats that are eaten the most often. Vegetables commonly eaten include spinach, pumpkins, turnips, radishes, tomatoes, river weed, onions, and green beans. Grains such as rice, buckwheat, and barley are also cultivated in various regions of the country depending on the local climate.
