USA Fitness Holiday for Kids

Learn healthy habits through exercise, physiology, and nutrition. Come experience the summer of a lifetime. Camp New Heights is a two, four, or six-week overnight summer program for campers aged 9 through 17, located in Santa Barbara, California. Programs are personalized to fit individual needs with the focus of helping each camper maximize their potential.

Santa Catalina residence hall is UC Santa Barbara’s largest residence hall for undergraduate students. It consists of two separate towers with North Tower spanning 11 floors and South Tower, 10 floors. Many rooms offer stunning views of the ocean, mountains, and surrounding community. The rooms are organized as doubles. The rooms feature suite-style living where each camper will have one roommate and two suitemates.

Room set-up

Each suite consists of two bedrooms (4 single beds) separated by one shared bathroom. Rooms are furnished with two single beds, desks, desk chair, a small chest of drawers, and a closet with hangers. Rooms do not have telephones, televisions, radios or clocks. Guests may wish to bring a reading lamp. Each dorm room will be separated between male and female campers.

Campers also have access to a recreational room with pool tables, ping pong tables, foosball tables, air hockey tables, and television. All floors have elevator access. The dorm has a communal laundry facility in the basement.

Program

The program aims to give campers the skills and tools necessary to live/lead an active and healthy lifestyle. While at camp, they can enjoy the independence of a college-style living experience and world-class counselors and staff.

Camp New Heights believes that regardless of your skill level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced athlete), everyone can reach new heights. Camp New Heights is the preeminent California summer camp experience.

  • Looking to work with world-class performance coaches and trainers
  • Interested in giving yourself a performance advantage with your school or club teams
  • Eager to give yourself a lifelong edge with little-known training and nutrition secrets

Elective course

Beginner competitive swimming

Keep that head down and blow out your nose! Swimming is a tremendous workout and a lifetime sport. You will learn how to utilize the front-crawl / freestyle stroke and make that next beach day a time to flaunt your awesome swimming skills.

Soccer

Hit the pitch with confidence by honing your soccer skills. Whether a striker, defender, or midfielder, there's no transfer fee to take a shot at the soccer class.

Baseball / softball

Turn 2 every time by sharpening your skills in baseball and softball. Batting, fielding, and drills will sharpen your skills to an all-star level.

Volleyball

Dig this!!! Camp New Heights has added volleyball to the schedule after much demand and fanfare for the highly touted sport. Camp New Heights is excited to see lots of spikes, rallies, and attacks.

Basketball

Skills, drills, and everything in between to take your game to the next level. Focus on footwork, shot form, one on one techniques, boxing out, and so much more. There’s no doubt that your next pickup game will feature a new star.

Visual arts

Painting, sculpture, and other various crafts offer an opportunity to explore your artistic side. You may not envision yourself as Picasso, but you may find yourself feeling abstract in this course.

Tennis

Take advantage of the tennis course, it will ensure you at least a few aces in your next match. Whether it's 30-love or match point, you'll gain all the skills needed to make you surely fall in love with the game.

Surfing

Hang ten or just simply hang on because you're in for the ride of your life. Santa Barbara is home to some of the most well-known surf destinations in the country.

Sports (human) performance

The Sports (Human) Performance program will help kids improve on functional movement to support the physical demands of life and sport. The goal is to also help athletes build confidence to improve on weaknesses, injury prevention, and overall strength and power. Every child (athlete) can benefit from performance training regardless of what sport or level they are competing at. This course will help them become better, faster, and stronger.

Sample schedule

The program consists of the following schedule Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri:

  • Period 3: Sports and human performance, yoga, and body movement

  • Community building activity
  • Structured free time

Wednesday serves as a recovery day with a nutrition class and pool movement recovery in the morning and a trip to the beach filling the afternoon block.

Saturday is an excursion day that features trips off campus to do various activities such as paddle boarding, shopping downtown, camping in the national forest, and so much more.

Sunday features the move-in and move-out procedures. Sunday also features the grocery store and cooking challenges. Campers also do laundry and tidy up their rooms on Sundays.

Staff

The safety, happiness, and well-being of the campers are of utmost importance to Camp New Heights. Camp New Heights believes that a successful camp experience begins with the staff. The camp leadership are CPR-trained and have years of experience in their field of expertise and are trained to handle campers at all age levels.

Camp New Heights is an industry leader in staff acquisition. They pride themselves on a highly competitive and intense interview process. They strive to assemble a diverse staff that has a 1:1 male-to-female staff ratio. Keep checking back throughout the year to see their new staff members as they are added to the roster.

Note

Camp New Heights is not a special needs camp. The use of illicit substances while at camp will result in immediate expulsion from the camp, no refund, and forfeiture of the medical deposit.

Included excursions

Weekend excursions are included. Additional cash may be needed if the camper wants to purchase items on a trip.

Location

This fitness summer camp is located on the beautiful University of California, Santa Barbara campus, less than a mile from the ocean, and the campus is filled with world-class facilities for dining and recreation.

Food

All meals are included. Most meals are served from the Portola and De La Guerra dining halls. Weekends feature prepared meals for excursions and the cooking challenge in which campers prepare the Sunday lunch as a group.

On excursions, lunch will be provided and breakfast. Dinner will be at the dorm.

The staff will be working with the UCSB facilities team to make sure any restrictions or food allergies are addressed.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or Santa Barbara Municipal Airport (SBA). Airport transfer is not included in the price.

SBA is preferable as it's a very short five-minute drive from the dorms to the airport, whereas LAX is about 2 hours south of the campus.

Please aim to have arrivals between the hours of 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and departures between 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Camp New Heights will provide shuttle service from LAX to UC Santa Barbara at a cost of 70 USD per camper per way.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 15% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
