This is a short and sweet, highlights-only Torres del Paine experience, wherein you can hike and boat the famous W trail’s three major attractions. On this three-day trip, you’ll trek the French Valley, come close to the icy walls of Grey Glacier, and hike to the Base of the famous Towers, while recharging each night in a private and intimate deluxe belle tent in Chile Nativo's Riverside Camp.
The camp is equipped with 10 all-weather, double lotus belle tents, each situated on a wooden platform to protect against the bracing Patagonian elements.
Each lotus belle tent can be transformed into a queen or double twin accommodation. Inside each one, you’ll find comfortable double-height mattresses with fresh down covers and crisp linens to make for a camping experience like no other!
Shared men's and women's bathrooms are located throughout the camp just a short walking distance from the tents. Each lotus belle tent is also located near a private picnic shelter with electrical outlets available for use.
Fresh towels and bathrobes will be provided to all Chile Nativo guests to allow for a more comfortable stay. Guests may still bring a quick drying towel if they wish to, along with personal hygiene items such as biodegradable soap and shampoo.
Hot water for showering is available from 07:00 until 00:00, and hair dryers are available by request. Electricity is also available in the dining lodge and lounge from 07:00 until 22:00 so guests may charge electronic devices.
Simply designed but spacious, each of the camp's 10 exclusive accommodations highlight nomadic architecture, with stunning views of the Serrano River or the iconic Paine Massif while encouraging rest, recreation, and an intimate connection with nature.
The riverside camp also has a dedicated dining lodge with magnificent views of the Paine Massif. Spacious open floors and high-beam ceilings expose the structure and simplicity of this quaint riverside lodge. The most impressive highlight? The spectacular view of the Paine Massif from your dining table.
Sitting proudly on the horizon, guests will enjoy the iconic image of Paine Grande, Los Cuernos, Las Torres, and Almirante Nieto mountains. A relaxing lounge area welcomes guests during their program's briefing or simply to sit by the window side, gazing out at the Patagonia skies or birdwatching the various species that frequent the area.
Electricity is available from 07:00 to 22:00 and Chile Nativo guests may charge their electronic devices and connect to the Wi-Fi while inside.
The day will begin at 07:00 in Puerto Natales, where your guide and private transport will pick you up from your hotel or other accommodation. As you travel to Torres del Paine along unpaved roads and past lagoons and pampas, you will be accompanied at times by the guanacos (relatives of llamas), grey foxes, Chilean flamingos, and black-necked swans that call the region home.
Entering the national park, you’ll cross Pehoe Lake by catamaran and arrive at the starting point of the day’s return trek. Your destination, the French Valley, is a spectacular natural basin surrounded by peaks and hanging glaciers.
At the entrance to the French Valley - a huge glacial moraine - you’ll scramble over boulders and catch the first sight of the hanging glacier atop the valley. From that point, you’ll ascend for an hour through a dreamlike Japanese garden landscape before arriving at the French Valley viewpoint (the “Plateau”).
Your reward will be a heart-stirring bird’s eye view of granite peaks and hanging glaciers. To one side, you'll see the French Glacier and Paine Grande (3,050 m / 10,006 ft.), while to the other, La Espada, La Hoja, La Máscara, and the main and north “horns” of Los Cuernos arch upwards.
In the upper section of the Valley, Cerro Catedral and Cerro Fortaleza will loom like turrets above the landscape. Then, you can take your time to have lunch at the viewpoint, surrounded by these imposing peaks and open skies. The return hike will be along the same track.
You’ll take the short catamaran ride back across Pehoe Lake, and a 35-minute private transfer will drive you to Chile Nativo’s Riverside Camp.
A freshly prepared welcome dinner will be waiting as you share with other trekkers the unforgettable views of the Paine Massif from the spacious dining lodge. Turn in for the evening to your private double deluxe dome on the shores of the Serrano River.
Following a plentiful and fresh breakfast, the private transfer will take you along a 30-minute drive to the trailhead of the day's trek of the Pingo Valley. This three-hour hike in the valley will take you to a breathtaking viewpoint at “Cascada los Salmones,” a waterfall where salmon are sometimes seen.
Be alert as you return and you may see the elusive huemul (Andean deer) hiding nearby! After a picnic lunch on the shores of the Pingo River, you’ll make your way through a woodpecker-inhabited beech forest to the boat’s departure point.
The three-hour long boat trip will take you around blue-hued icebergs to the immense face of the Grey Glacier, where you’ll stay for a while to admire its textures, lines, and colors. If you’re lucky, you’ll witness a glacial calving, in which chunks of ice break off and plummet spectacularly into the freezing waters.
On your return journey, you’ll see the wind-sculpted “ice mushrooms” atop the massive peaks of Paine Grande. Later, you’ll drive to the Serrano River area, where a gourmet meal and good night’s rest await you at the riverside camp.
The final day will begin with a sight-filled transfer across the national park to the starting point for the trek to the famous Three Towers Lookout. Your hike will begin with an hour’s ascent following the Ascencio River into the Ascencio Valley. There, you’ll stop to observe how the valley’s beauty unfolds with rich beech forests, glaciers, and waterfalls.
Past this lookout point, you will continue uphill, this time ascending along a gigantic terminal moraine (a ridge formed at a glacier’s end point) where you’ll be rewarded by the arresting sight of the Towers themselves.
At this lookout point 900 meters (2,952 ft.) above sea level, you’ll get to rest, take photos, and have lunch. The descent will follow the same path and the private transfer awaits to take you back to Puerto Natales, where this journey ends. You'll arriving at around 18:30. This will allow you time to travel to take a bus to Punta Arenas if needed.
Far away from the crowded park refugios and campsites, Chile Nativo Riverside Camp is their fully supported base camp located along the quiet shores of the Serrano River in Torres del Paine National Park.
The place is attractive to horseback riders and those seeking to connect with the tranquility of nature. Filled with hiking trails, this area is off the beaten path for those looking to discover new treks and the lesser known.
Kayak in the calm waters fed by the Grey River or sail to the Last Hope Sound and Serrano Glacier - this is a privileged area that Chile Nativo invites you to discover!
Groups will dine together, sharing among fellow company. Delicious and abundant meals will be created by the private chef with locally sourced products, and an open grill will display the art of fresh food as it is prepared before you. Enjoy local beer, Chilean wine, and Pisco sours that will mark the perfect end to a day’s journey!
Beautiful buffet breakfasts, design-your-own packed lunches, and three-course dinners will be a nourishing mix of local dishes and high-energy foods to fuel your adventures.
Delicacies such as king crab and Patagonia lamb, local jams and fresh cheeses, organic power bars, endless vegetables, eggs, and granolas will be available.
Vegans, vegetarians, and guests with other dietary needs will be more than catered and cared for with a range of alternative milks, gluten-free breads, vegan cheeses, and soy products.
Included:
Guests do have the option to kayak on the second day of the program for an additional charge. In order to take part in the kayak excursion at Refugio Grey, guests will disembark at the refugio without their guide and complete the two and a half-hour kayak excursion.
For guests who choose to kayak, they will miss the guided hike of the Pingo Valley as the guide and other group members will continue this excursion as normal. After guests complete the kayak excursion, they will return back to the meeting point via the Grey III Navigation to return back to the riverside camp as a group.
