You can also combine this coffee hike tour with a visit to Machu Picchu! The families which you will visit own about 3 hectares of land on their farm. They also have organic certification and adhere to fair trade practices within their local co-op in the COCLA group.
To ensure a pleasant experience, they have created comfortable rooms with hot water for showering. As an organization, Cocla Tours has provided them with technical assistance, loans, and tour training to make this Coffee Trail towards Machu Picchu tour an absolute success.
If you would like to learn even more about the history of coffee, see the processing facilities where the organization processes their coffee for international distribution, and participate in an official tasting for quality control before exportation, then write Cocla Tours!
During the two-day coffee adventure program, you will be visiting a coffee plantation to learn about the processes of organic coffee production. There you will get to prepare your own cup of coffee using traditional methods and also try local food on a family farm. You will be staying with a rural family and participating in their daily activities.
To reach the coffee plantation and visit the rural family, you will be hiking for three hours where you will on the way hike on an ancient Inca trail and enjoy breathtaking Andean landscapes and the high jungle.
