With sand-covered tombs, austere pyramids and towering Pharaonic temples, Egypt brings out the explorer in all of you. Egypt is rich with temples, soaring lotus-bud columns, enormous stone portals laced with delicate carvings, elaborate underground tombs, windswept desert monasteries, and richly decorated mosques. But as extraordinary as these sights are, they will probably not be the things that linger in your memory after you return home. It is exploring them from the back of a motorcycle or a scooter, from the Mediterranean feel of Alexandria to the electric pace of Cairo to the timelessness of desert villages that is unforgettable.
Accommodation during this tour will be in 3-5 star hotels (depending on the availability at each destination) with one nights of camping in a camp by the sea. Accommodation is based on triple room occupancy with options for single or double room upgrades.
The new route will start from the Mediterranean’s largest seaport city; Alexandria then heads south by the edge of the Western Desert towards Minya. After spending the first night in Minya, the challenge will head further south to reach Luxor, the capital of ancient Egypt and the largest open-air museum in the world where the participants will enjoy a rest day for sightseeing in this magnificent destination.
From Luxor the participants will cross the Egyptian eastern desert – one of the most challenging deserts on the face of the planet due to its rock formation and high mountain range – heading east to reach Hurghada, then north to Fayed to enjoy these two beach destinations by the Red Sea.
From Fayed, the challenge will make its way into Sinai to make its first stop at the city of peace, Sharm El Sheikh and from there, the challenge will head north to the beautiful camping destinations, Nuweiba where the participants will enjoy the night camping under the stars before heading west again to reach Ras Sudr, a small beach destination at the shores of the Red Sea and the kite surfing capital of Egypt.
The final leg of the season will then take place between Ras Sudr and Cairo to end the season in one of most ancient places in Egypt and the world, under the Step Pyramid of Djoser in the Sakkara area.
It is recommended to arrive a day or two earlier to relax and enjoy some sightseeing around Cairo or Alexandria. Cross World Challenges will pick you up from Cairo International Airport (CAI) or Borg El Arab Airport (HBE) and transfer you to the hotel. Arrive to Cairo or Alexandria.
At noon you will get to meet your fellow riders as you attend the orientation meetings, and know everything you need to know about this tour. You will receive your welcome package, t-shirts and tour guidebook during the meetings.
You will start early in the morning from Alexandria and head towards the city of Minya, the trade capital of Ancient Egypt by the banks of the River Nile. The first day you are usually escorted by different motorcycle and scooter clubs from Alexandria where they share the road to the first destination. Lunch will be served on the road as well as refreshments and water.
You will start from Minya and make your way south down the River Nile to Luxor, the capital of ancient Egypt and the largest open-air museum in the world. You will witness a great change of scenery from green to yellow to green again. Luxor is known for its wealth of monuments, and its lush green farms.
A rest day in this great destination is a highlight where you can visit the Temples of Karnak, Temple of Luxor, the valley of the kings or take a hot air balloon ride over the city.
Interesting day is ahead of you as depart Luxor to head east and cross the Egyptian Eastern desert, one of the toughest deserts on the surface of the planet during to its rock formations, and mountain range. You will be lucky to witness wandering camels and other wildlife as you cross the desert.
As you reach the other edge you will be amazed by the shores of the Red Sea riviera where you will enjoy a relaxing and fun time at the beach in Hurghada.
Ride north by the shores of the Read Sea to reach the small city of Fayed, a little town overlooking the the Suez Canal where you can relax and watch global trade vessels passing by.
Cross the underwater tunnel under the Suez canal to get to the Sinai peninsula and ride at this marvelous part of Egypt ton Your way to the peace city, Sharm El Sheikh.
Ride on the beautiful coastal/mountain road from Sahrm El Sheikh to Nuwebaa, a small bedouin city in Sinai where you get to camp on the shores of the Red Sea.
On this stage, you get to cross the Sinai Peninsula passing by Saint Catherine's Monstary and the Mount Sinai. to get to Ras Sudr, a small city by the Red Sea shore and the a worldwide kite surfing destination.
The last leg of the tour takes place between Ras Sudr and Cairo where this tours ends in one of most ancient places in Egypt and the world, under the Step Pyramid of Djoser in the Sakkara area.
Cross Egypt Challenge registration team reviews each participant application carefully to select those who meet the following selection criteria.
Pillion passengers are only allowed during Cross Egypt Challenge on big motorcycles with engine capacity of 1000cc or more.
The route of Cross Egypt Challenge can get very rough in certain areas, and this requires complete control of your vehicle. Having a pillion passenger on a smaller bike or a scooter will not give you the control required in such tricky and difficult situations. Your desired pillion can however join the challenge in our comfortable chase car.

Cross Egypt Challenge will hand each participant 3 long sleeve t-shirts to wear during the challenge, as well as 1 polo shirts to wear during night events. Wearing the official clothes is a must during the rides. Be prepared that you might encounter cold weather during early starts and at nights, so prepare yourself with a light jacket or a sweater.

Each participant is allowed a maximum of two pieces of luggage during the tour: one small carry on (that will be stored in the chase cars with maximum dimensions of 22" x 14" x 9" or 56cm x 35cm x 23cm) plus 1 backpack that can be carried on your motorcycle or scooter.

The route will start from Alexandria, go through the Mediterranean coast, the Nile Valley, Eastern deserts and the Red Sea riviera, before finishing the season in one of most ancient places in Egypt and the world, under the Step Pyramid of Djoser in the Sakkara area.
Cross Egypt Challenge will provide 3 meals a day for the entire duration of the tour. This starts with breakfast on day 2 (first riding day) of the tour and ends with breakfast on day 10.
While breakfast and dinners will be mainly served at hotels, your own Desert Chefs will prepare very light lunches on the road and this will consist of basic canned food and biscuits depending on the availability at each destination.
