About the route
The new route will start from the Mediterranean’s largest seaport city; Alexandria then head south by the edge of the Western Desert towards Fayoum, a once green and lavish oasis. After spending the first night in Fayoum, the challenge will head further south to reach Minya, then Luxor, the capital of ancient Egypt and the largest open-air museum in the world where the participants will enjoy a rest day for sightseeing in this magnificent destination.
From Luxor, the participants will head south again to reach the beautiful and relaxing city of Aswan, before preparing to cross the Egyptian eastern desert – one of the most challenging deserts on the face of the planet due to its rock formation and high mountain range – heading east to reach Marsa Alam, one of the world’s best diving spots. From Marsa Alam, the participants will start their north ascend by the shore of the Red Sea to visit both Hurghada and Ain Sokhna and enjoy these two beach destinations by the Red Sea.
The final leg of the season will then take place between Ain Sokhna and Cairo to end the season in one of the most ancient places in Egypt and the world, under the Step Pyramid of Djoser in the Sakkara area.
