Though long, the drive takes you through different features including tropical rain forests, savannah fields, and the terraced hills of Kigezi famously known as the Switzerland of East Africa. Upon arrival at the briefing point, you will be warmly welcomed by the Bakiga women who will entertain you with cultural performance until the time of the briefing. You will be assigned to the ranger guide and they will allocate you to the gorilla family in a group of eight guests and finally start your gorilla trek in the forest of Bwindi.
Sometimes, gorilla trekking takes a lot of time being the fact that they can be located over a long distance so you are advised to hire a porter to help you carry your backpacker and give a hand on the steep slippery path. About the tour
Gorilla trekking is dependent on the availability of permits at the time of your booking. Gorilla permits in all the national parks of Uganda and Rwanda are in high demand. DAV SAFARIS advises that you book your tour well in advance to avoid disappointment. If gorilla permits are not available for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, it is possible to see the mountain gorillas at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park which is seven kilometers from the town of Kisoro in Uganda.
