Day 1: Cluj Napoca - Turda (40 kilometers / 25 miles / 1 hour)
Welcome to Transylvania. Meet your English-speaking guide at the airport and transfer to Turda for dinner and accommodation in a four-star hotel.
Day 2: Turda - Cheile Turzii - Belis - Turda (205 kilometers / 128 miles / 6 hours of riding)
You will go on a ride in the mountains today starting with a visit at the Turda salt mines, with impressive halls named after kings and queens. Turzii’s Gorges, the most important reservation of the Sunset Mountains are your next destination. Continue riding to Belis Lake, where, if you are lucky to get a dry summer season, the ruins of a 14th century church can be seen emerging out from the cold waters. Spend the evening in Turda, dinner and accommodation there.
Day 3: Turda - Bilea Lac - Turda, Transfagarasan Road (425 kilometers / 264 miles / 7 hours of riding)
Enjoy an amazing ride on Transfaragasan Road (2,034 meters altitude), the most crooked and challenging of Europe's roads for motorcyclists. The second highest road in Romania, the Transfagarasan was built between 1970 and 1974 as a military route, by communist dictator Ceausescu (after the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968). The road snakes up the tallest peaks of the Carpathians. Accommodation and dinner will be in Turda.
Day 4: Turda - Medias - Sighisoara - Turda (280 kilometers / 174 miles / 5 hours of riding)
Ride to Medias to become acquainted with a unique artist, the only one in the world who uses spider webs for his paintings. The next stop of your Romania travel is Biertan, with its impressive fortified church. Drive to Sighisoara, the best preserved and still inhabited medieval citadel in Europe and a UNESCO heritage site, but probably most important for you it is Vlad Dracula's birthplace!
Tip: for your lunch, ‘Vlad Dracul’s House’ is recommended. It is the very place where Dracula was born, turned today into an exquisite restaurant wherein you can find frescoes dating back to the 14th century. Evening will be in Turda, dinner and accommodation there.
Day 5: Turda - Scarisoara - Turda, Sunset Mountains (230 kilometers / 143 miles / 4 hours and a half of riding)
Ride to Scarisoara Glacier Cave along Ariesului Valley River. The Sunset Mountains will reward you with traditional villages, winding roads, and breathtaking scenery. Visit Scarisoara Glacier Cave, the biggest cave of this kind in Romania, with a mass of ice of 75.000 mc. Return to Turda for dinner and accommodation.
Day 6: Turda - Rinca - Turda, Transalpina Road (400 kilometers / 249 miles / 7 hours of riding)
Ride to Alba Iulia Citadel, a fortress with seven bulwarks, a star shaped citadel, common to Vauban fortresses. It will be an incredible ride for you. Transalpina Road is one of the most spectacular roads of the Carpathian Mountains and the highest mountain road in Romania. With its highest point at Urdele Pass - 2,145 meters above sea level, the road is also called The King's Road by the locals. The road was built under the rule of King Carol II of Romania and rebuilt during World War II by German troops. Accommodation and dinner will be in Turda.
Day 7: Turda - Cluj Napoca
Say goodbye to Transylvania. Transfer to Cluj Napoca Airport to catch your flight back home.
