The tour includes a unique experience of visiting the Ferrari museum in Maranello, a town fully soaked with the soul and spirit of the mythical brand, and an amazing motorcycle museum near Misano. Also, there will be a sort of laic pilgrimage in the hometowns of Valentino and late Marco with the possibility to buy some gadgets in their original stores and have a coffee with their friends at their favorite bars.
On this tour, you will have an opportunity to attend an important racing event on the rest day - the Italy MotoGP on the Mugello track in May / June or the San Marino MotoGP on the Misano track in September.
This is a well-balanced tour between a great riding on the enthralling winding Apennine roads and a fascinating touristic itinerary dotted with enchanting places worth the visit with a juicy cherry on the cake - a special attention for the Italian world of motors and motorcycle racing!
Day 1: Meeting in Rome (Roma)
You muster in the afternoon in your hotel in Rome and go together to pick up the rental bikes. You all meet up before dinner for a short but important briefing, the time to explain a few simple rules for organizing and synchronizing things, thus ensuring that everyone has a safe holiday that is unforgettable for all the right reasons. Then, you’ll break the ice and start forging some group spirit over a classic Italian pre-dinner aperitif. Stay overnight at a 4-star hotel in Rome.

Day 2: Rome to Val d’Orcia, 220 kilometers / 137 miles
You start your tour heading to Tuscany with a beautiful stretch along Lake Bracciano and visit a beautiful dying city before arriving in the enchanting wine countryside of Val d’Orcia, one of UNESCO World Heritage sites and its delightful villages, and reach one of the most enchanting ever, the wine capital of Montepulciano, for your night stopover. Today’s tour is entirely set in the amazing Val d’Orcia and Val d’Elsa in Tuscany. Enjoy an enchanting route amid hills and vineyards with lots of most interesting places to see such as the amazing city of Siena where you’ll make a long stop during lunchtime in order to let you visit its magnificent cathedral and renaissance palaces.

Today is a marvelous day tour amid the enchanting scenery of vineyards and medieval burgs that are the symbol of par excellence of Tuscany. Gliding through the verdant, gently rolling Tuscan Val d’Orcia and Chianti (shire) countryside, you go and visit two world-famous pearls, both UNESCO World Heritage sites, the enthralling little town of San Gimignano before reaching Florence (Firenze) where you’ll spend two nights. - September: a great ride on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine mountains awaits today together with the visit of two very suggestive, spiritual places hidden in the green of these centenarian forests. They are a monastery where Saint Francis has spent many years of his life and a hermitage, both permeated with a stilling peaceful atmosphere that will fill up your spirit.

Day 6: Florence to Lucca, 140 kilometers / 87 miles
Two further UNESCO World Heritage sites are on your program today. First stop today is Leonardo’s birth town, Vinci, then Pisa with its magnificent Renaissance testimonies. After an accurate visit of Piazza dei Miracoli and the famous Leaning Tower, you skip back into the Middle-Ages in another magnificent town, Lucca. Stay overnight at a 4-star hotel in Lucca.

Day 7: Lucca to Modena, 185 kilometers / 115 miles
It’s time for a change of scene, a day dedicated to Italy’s best as regards motors. You cross the Apennines on a pass which is beloved most by bikers and drop in Emilia-Romagna region heading for the Ferrari hometown, Maranello, before gaining to Modena, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Choices of possible (optional) activities in Maranello are visiting a factory and museum or a tour on a rumbling Ferrari.
After the rumbling of powerful engines, some lyric music and the unique voice of Luciano Pavarotti will delight your ears in his museum-house, and / or what about ravishing your taste buds with a visit to the oldest balsamic vinegar factory in the world? Going out for dinner will be the right opportunity for a stroll in the enchanting historic center of Modena. Stay overnight at a 4-star hotel in Modena.

Day 8: Modena to Cattolica, 260 kilometers / 162 miles
Straight ways are being totally banned. You reach the sea resort Cattolica on the Adriatic via the Apennine mountains, treating you to lots of great bends amid verdant forests. - May / June: a light program in Romagna awaits after yesterday’s heavy duty, taking into two of the most interesting medieval castles of the Malatesta family: the fort that imprisoned the Count of Cagliostro (a famous alchemist, born Giuseppe Balsamo, whose story has been dramatized in several adventure movies) and the little-fortified town of Gradara, the setting for the classic love story between Paolo and Francesca immortalized in Canto 5 of Dante’s Inferno, part of the great poet’s epic Divine Comedy. The great happy ending of the day is visiting the most interesting motorcycle museum in Italy.
- September: today is the San Marino MotoGP day on the Misano track and all those who want so will have the “adrenalinic” possibility to attend this fantastic event. In alternative, you can have a day off in Cattolica / Riccione with lots of possible activities including beach, shopping, and thermal baths or just a short ride to see the Republic of San Marino.
This is also the right day for a visit to Tavullia, Valentino Rossi’s hometown, and Coriano where Marco Simoncelli hailed from. Stay overnight at a 4-star hotel in Cattolica.

Day 10: Cattolica to Spoleto, 230 kilometers / 143 miles
You start your way back to Rome along a route sprinkled with architectural jewels. You cross Marche where you’ll visit the fine town of Urbino, one of UNESCO World Heritage sites, before entering Umbria where you’ll stop in 3 beautiful and unique places of Assisi, Gubbio, and your final destination, Spoleto.

- To hire a bike, you shall hold a valid driver’s license for motorcycles over 400cc and be at least 21 years old (25 for some models).
- Riders from non-Schengen countries are usually not allowed to ride in Europe only with their national driver’s license and therefore need to have an International Driver’s Licence issued by the local authorities.

Guided tours are usually captained by Gerasimo (Jery), the owner of the company, Italian motorcycling roads specialist, route designer, and tour leader. Born and raised in Sardinia, Gerasimo, Jery to his friends, moved to Lombardy in the 90s and then to Emilia-Romagna in 2003.
Lage
Two are the guiding themes of this tour: motors, from the most famous brand of dream supercars to powerful racing bikes, and the Apennine mountains as the main location, that you’ll tackle from various angulations. The Apennine mountains are the chain that crosses the central Italy lengthwise. Not as high as the Alps, though the highest peak (called Gran Sasso, 2,912 meters above sea level, in region Abruzzi, a piece of resistance of another of your tours), they are often snow-capped the whole year long. They offer infinite thrilling routes and bewitching sceneries.
The land of Saint Francis and Saint Claire, Umbria exudes spirituality and is still an ideal environment for seekers of tranquility and meditative moods. This ambiance extends eastward into the Marche, mingling in addition with the joys and typical fragrances of the seaside.
Both regions are covered with swathes of dense woodland and expanses of vines and olive trees. These are lands of strong flavors. Wines, oils, truffles and charcuterie, all of the supreme quality, create extraordinary dishes wreathed in aromas, fragrances, and personality that permeate your tour amid the natural beauty of the Apennine mountains.
You counterpoint all this with a visit to delightful medieval towns in Tuscany, gothic-style jewels in Umbria, and the Malatesta castles in Marche and Romagna, gliding through historic centers steeped in otherworldly charm. Not forgetting the gorgeous serpentine roads that lead you to the splendid monasteries and hermitages that arose in the heart of these mountains at the start of the Middle Ages.
With an impressive collection of churches and fine palazzi, Tuscany, Umbria, and the Marche also have some high-powered heritage from the Renaissance, for here is where it all began. In Emilia-Romagna, you’ll focus mainly on the motorcycle. A land of great motorcycling pedigree, Romagna is home to the Misano Adriatico track, well known to MotoGP aficionados.
No trip to the area would be complete without a “pilgrimage” to its heart, in Coriano, the hometown of the late Marco Simoncelli (58 Sic), and Tavullia, where Valentino Rossi (46) hails from. Character-wise, this area is a permanent contrast between the rustic hinterland, whose natural, historical, cultural, and gourmet delights span the Apennines, the Montefeltro area (with San Leo) and the panoply of Malatesta castles, and the Adriatic Riviera with well-equipped beaches, tempting nightspots, and famous discos.
Whatever you like, you can enjoy it here. There is San Marino, a tiny independent enclave within Romagna. San Marino’s history can be traced all the way back to the 3rd century AD, and its proud people have lived it every step of the way. Legend has it that in AD 257, the stonemason Marino climbed up Monte Titano and founded a small Christian community there at a time when Roman Emperor Diocletian was persecuting them for their faith. The first republic crystallized around Marino in AD 301 and San Marino’s history had begun.
