Depending on the flight timing, you will have the extra options of Ayurvedic massage, Muziris Heritage Cultural Tour at a nearby center, or water sports options including catamaran, banana boat ride, wakeboard, speed boat, windsurfing, etc. In the evening, there are options for a candlelit dinner on the secluded beach by the resort, or a range of other beachside restaurants on offer, including authentic European pizza, tapas, and specialty seafood restaurants to choose from. Overnight will be at a secret three-star beach resort or similar.
Day 2 - Saturday (226 kilometers / 140 miles)
Have an early morning breakfast in the resort looking over the sea, before you kick into action with a push of the starter and you head out down the beach road. Stopping every hour for photo ops and a chai break, you will head towards the ferry over the estuary to Fort Kochi. There, you will have a few minutes for a look at the famous Chinese fishing nets before heading off down the beautiful picturesque coastal road. Passing fish and shrimp farms on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other, you will make your way down the coast towards Alleppey.
Two beachside stops later and you will traverse the town commonly known as Venice of the East, and head towards Kuttanad and the famous Keralan backwaters. After stopping for some lunch at a traditional toddy (alcoholic coconut palm wine) shop famed for its tasty spicy food, you will trundle inland and ride the old highway north towards Thattekad Bird Sanctuary. Your stay for the night will be in a traditional Keralan homestay amidst the jungle and the plantations, with exotic birds flying by.
If you are in good time, the option of a beautiful scenic boat ride on the vast Periyar River before sunset is available for those who choose to, depending on the season. Otherwise, you can go for a plantation walk, a visit to a local rubber factory, or simply chill, having a beer and taking in the wonderful surroundings. Dinner will be traditional Kerala fare cooked to perfection by the wonderful chef.
Day 3 - Sunday (181 kilometers / 112 miles)
Have another early start as you head inland and climb the Western Ghats, following the direction of the river through forests and jungle, as well as rubber and cardamom plantations until you emerge into kilometers and kilometers of beautiful tea plantations as far as the eye can see, with the chance to drink the freshest tea from the plantation near Munnar. You will stop for lunch before heading back on a different under-explored route direct to the airport for your flight home.
