Unterkunft

You will stay at the best hotels in the area, on a twin share basis in three or four-star hotels, rewarded for their excellent meals. In most cases, the hotels are situated in the countryside, mostly next to a lake.

There are specific reasons why the Magic Motor Experiences team picked each of the hotels. For example, one might be a former mansion has now become a hotel, or it could be that the building dates from the 1800s and is part of Swedish cultural heritage with much more atmosphere than modern city hotels. On top of all that, it’s good to enjoy mother nature including the opportunity to take an evening stroll beside a Swedish lake, watching the sun go down. During the bright summer evenings, the sun sets between 9 and 10 p.m. and it stays light for even longer.

Another reason for choosing countryside hotels is their calm and restful tranquility. Their location means you avoid excessive driving on asphalt roads. The hotels are often family-owned and take good care of their customers.

For sure you will enjoy this package.

On top of that, there will be some activities, like clay pigeon shooting or visiting the hotel spa, in the evenings, just to get the most out of your adventure bike tour in Sweden. The service is there for you, comfortable 3 or 4-star hotels have also been chosen, which are also rewarded for their meals.

If you bring your partner who does not ride a motorcycle, they can go in the support minivan in which the luggage is transported.

Itinerary

Day 1

Magic Motor Experiences team will pick you up at the airport and take you to the hotel where they’ve arranged dinner for everyone and give more information about the tour.

Day 2: Bolmsö - Hestra (125 kilometers / 78 miles)

After a substantial breakfast at the hotel, you pick up your bikes and clothes. You will then practice a little on local gravel roads to prepare. You will try riding on different surfaces to do some brake and balance exercises so that you get comfortable on your own test track during the morning.

Just before lunchtime, you are off! You start with some alternate paths, gravel, and asphalt, to take the ferry west to a superb fish restaurant where you will have lunch of freshly caught fish. After lunch, you take smaller curving roads through the forests, passing small villages where time has stood still for the last 50 years.

When you arrive at your hotel in Hestra, located right at the river Nissan, you check into newly refurbished rooms. You then go to the shooting range to clay pigeon shooting with a shotgun, a fun activity that anyone can do even if you’ve never held a gun before. You will enjoy a three-course dinner at the hotel, which is awarded for its good food and lovely environment.

Day 3: Hestra - Eksjö (215 kilometers / 134 miles)

You leave from Southern Sweden Ski Center. Within a few kilometers, you will have tried several different surfaces – asphalt, gravel, and even grass. Lovely roads up to Taberg Hill, where you have lunch at one of the best views in Småland.

After lunch, you drive towards Eksjö, routes that will put a big smile on your face. The roads that wind inside the deep spruce and pine forests have limited visibility with blind curves, so you need to concentrate during this run.

You arrive at the hotel, situated next to a lake. Dinner is served at the hotel, with a beautiful view of the lake. After dinner, you go swimming in the lake, with maybe a warm-up in the sauna first. You round off the evening with some karaoke at the hotel, for those who feel in a good voice.

Day 4: Eksjö - Kosta (240 kilometers / 149 miles)

You eat a buffet breakfast and set off on lovely gravel roads. In fact, during the day you ride a lot on rough gravel, which causes tires to slip as it is so loose. Of course, the tour will try to alternate different types of gravel. The ride today is very entertaining and beautiful, the scenery is great as you ride through hilly landscapes with small farms and with farmland mixed with forest.

You make a stop at the Katthult farm which was the main scene character Emil by author Astrid Lindgren, in one of her many famous children’s books – perhaps the most famous of her characters is Pippi Longstocking. You continue south and the landscape becomes flatter and the roads become faster. You follow Stångån some distance downstream and then take the bridge over it.

You are going to Kosta, the center of the Swedish Kingdom of Crystal. The Kingdom of Crystal has been making blown glass since 1742. Today you will be a visitor to some of the best utility glass and art glass in the world and will be able to go right up to the glass furnaces to see them created. In Kosta, there is the chance to shop for both glass and clothes in a 20,000 square meter area.

The hotel has a spa and cuisine of international class and won major tourist prizes. You have, as you would hope, access to the spa during your stay, and a two-course supper.

Day 5: Kosta - Älmhult (190 kilometers / 118 miles)

In the morning after a buffet breakfast, you look at how to do glass blowing, a craft that requires great skill and experience – it’s wonderful to see how a piece of glass becomes a work of art. Then you leave Kosta and drive on, down to the Blekinge and Skåne border. Initially, you’re on pretty fast gravel roads, then more mixed surfaces with paths and winding roads.

In this area, there are plenty of small lakes, and roads run between these through forests and farmland. You will make a lunch stop at a restaurant to recover your energy so that you stay alert in the second half of the day. You’re approaching Carl von Linné and IKEA country now, and the hotel is beautifully located on a peninsula. You eat dinner with a beautiful view over the lake at your hotel, where there is also free access to kayaking on the lake.

Day 6: Älmhult - Bolmsö (220 kilometers / 137 miles)

This is the last day of your adventure bike tour in Sweden. You leave the hotel happy to run down the border between Småland and Skåne, where you take both faster and slower routes. Some of the faster lanes have been used in the South Swedish Rally and have lovely curves where you just want to continue to turn right, left, right, and left. On the slower roads, it becomes a different rhythm and it requires a little more attention as the surfaces are shifting. Then you have a picnic lunch.

In the afternoon, you drive on entertaining gravel roads through wild Småland and will eventually return to where you started the tour. You check the bikes in before making your way to a farewell dinner at a nice place.

Day 7

After a full breakfast, the Magic Motor Experiences team will drop you off at the airport.

Lage

Sweden is in Northern Europe and is fairly sparsely populated with approximately nine million people over an area of 450,000 square kilometers. It is a modern society with high living standards. In Småland where Magic Motor Experiences has its offices and conducts its operations, there are thousands of kilometers of winding gravel roads, old paths from the past that have gotten a little bigger over time.

The roads in Småland wind through a landscape with lots of pine and some broad leaves, interspersed with cultivated areas and small farms engaged in a combination of forestry and agriculture. In addition to forest and agricultural land, there are many lakes in the countryside, 100,000 in all of Sweden and about 5,000 in Småland. Very often you pass lakes and gain some beautiful views. Since the Swedish ice sheet disappeared about 9,000 years ago, there are no sharp or high mountains left. This rolling landscape is perfect for biking.

Verpflegung

Magic Motor Experiences wants you to enjoy all of your trips, not just when you’re riding. They want everything to be the best they can offer – including food. You will be served six breakfasts, five lunches, and six dinners during the tour. At the hotels, you will have a big selection of their buffet, then you will stop and have coffee breaks at a nice location and lunch at a restaurant or a picnic. You will have a two or three-course menu at the hotel rewarded for their delicious meals.

For breakfast, you will enjoy a great buffet, which may include yogurt / sour milk, porridge, ingredients such as muesli and cereals, and different kinds of sandwiches with various toppings (not fillings, so the sandwiches are open), boiled eggs, and other assorted foods. Milk, juice, coffee, and tea are always available.

You will enjoy some of your lunches at urban locations or even as picnics – and each meal will be made in different ways to make it a bit special. Dinner at the hotels is prepared by skilled chefs using fresh ingredients that are typically selected according to the season. Most of the hotels you will stay at have awards for their food in the ‘White Guide’, which rates the best restaurants in Sweden.
