Rawai Muay Thai-Khao Lak is located about one hour north of Phuket International Airport (HKT), following the coastal road. Khao Lak is a small beach-side town, facing the stunning Andaman Sea and known for its great diving opportunities. The famous Similan Islands are located close by and most people who visit here do not miss the chance to dive and snorkel in their clear blue waters.
The camp is located two kilometers from the beach. They are five kilometers north of Khao Lak town, near Khuk Khak beach, and the J.W. Marriott hotel. The camp is on 8,000 square meters of tropical land, surrounded by coconut trees and palm trees. The area is very quiet and calm, perfect for training and relaxing.

There is much to see and do in Khao Lak. There are beautiful beaches to play in, waterfalls and parks to visit, shop and eat in the fresh food market, and water activities including snorkeling and diving in the world-famous Similan Islands. There is a horse farm, a golf driving range and golf course, and elephant camps, all close to the camp.
The gym is located two kilometers from Khuk Kak beach.
Downtown Khao Lak is located five kilometers south of the camp. You will find restaurants, shops, markets, banks, hotels, and more here. Downtown is only a few blocks long and very quiet in the low season which is from April to October.
A few kilometers from the camp is the Golden Hill Driving Club, for the golfers out there. There is also the Thap Lamu Navy Golf Course, about 15 minutes drive away. It is a beautiful 18-hole golf course, overlooking the Andaman Sea. It is not expensive to play there and the views are exceptional.
Khaolak Horse Club is located five kilometers from Rawai Muay Thai camp, on the road to Chongfah Waterfall. Khun Ju, the owner of the club, has a beautiful horse ranch and offers horseback riding lessons and trails. You can ride the horses through mountain trails and on the beach.
About one hour away from the camp, you can reach Khao Sok National Park. It is immense and offers everything from elephant trekking, cave and river tours, floating bungalows, and beautiful flora to gaze at. The best time of the year to visit is from November to May.
Snorkeling and diving trips to the nearby Similan Islands are by far the most spectacular thing you can do while visiting Khao Lak. The Similans are open only during high season (mid-October to mid-May). Rawai Muay Thai's good friend, Olof, offers boat trips to the Similan Islands. He focuses on snorkeling tours to the world-famous islands where you can see marine life at its best.
Most students rent scooters to get around. It costs 200 THB daily or 4,500 THB monthly. The price can vary depending on the type of scooter you choose, gears or automatic. You can find cheaper scooters for rent at other places but these often lack the proper maintenance and usually are unreliable (always check your front and rear lights before you rent a scooter). If your bike has bald or old tires, you will be prone to getting punched or slipping.
Often the cheaper scooters end up being more expensive in the end. Push bikes (bicycles) cost 100 THB daily, 600 THB weekly, or 2,000 THB monthly. If you plan to rent a scooter or ride on the back of a scooter in Thailand, you should ensure you have travel insurance. Hospital fees for motorbike accidents in Khao Lak can easily cost you up to 10,000 USD.
Near the gym, you can find beautiful waterfalls worth visiting. Their favorite is Sai Rung Waterfall, which is also known as Pak Weep Waterfall or Rainbow Waterfall. Is it located near the Meridien Resort Hotel and Beyond Resort Hotel, about 15 minutes from the camp. The best time to visit the waterfall is in the rainy season, from June to October.

Only a few airlines use Don Muang Airport (Nok Air and 1-Go, for example).
The bus from Bangkok to Khao Lak takes 11 hours and costs approximately 950 THB. The bus does, however, pass right through Khao Lak so for those guests who want to take the bus, just let the driver know you want to get off at Khao Lak. Bus travels between Bangkok to Khao Lak and many students have complained that the contents of their bags or backpacks have been tampered with during the bus trip.
Items such as iPods, cameras, and mobile phones are all easily converted into cash by criminals. Lock your bags with a quality padlock whenever you are traveling by bus in Thailand and do not check the bags in the bus baggage compartment. Just keep them in your sight at all times.
The nearest train station to Khao Lak is 450 kilometers away at Surat Thani. The train ride to Surat Thani is not recommended, mostly because the train runs at night and you cannot see anything and the train leaves you really far from Khao Lak.
