You’ll stay in Spiros Family Apartments, in a spacious ensuite private room with its own balcony, air conditioning and WiFi, guaranteed to leave you feeling rested and rejuvenated. There is no single supplement for solo travelers.
Meet your host Antonio at Zakynthos airport, who will transfer you to your accommodation. Famed for being the home of the sea turtle Caretta-Caretta, Laganas will be your base for this fabulous photography experience.
Take your time to unpack and settle into your new surroundings. Later, meet your villa hosts Antonio and Effie, who will tell you about all the things to see and do in this diverse resort over drinks and a welcome snack.
This evening, enjoy a traditional welcome dinner in Zakynthos town, with magnificent views across the harbour and out to sea. Relax, with traditional singers providing tranquility and ambiance with their ‘kantades’. This is Zakynthos’ characteristic music, accompanied by the mandolin and guitar. Local islanders have used this beautiful tradition to express joy, grief and love for centuries.
It’s an amazing way to start your photography holiday and feel welcomed and relaxed on our beautiful island.
Wake up at your own pace and indulge in a traditional Greek breakfast: free-range eggs, freshly baked bread and Greek yoghurt with honey, just for starters.
Later, meet your photography tutor and guide Dimitri, for an introductory 1 hour meeting focused on the functionalities of your camera and achieving an ideal work process in photography.
Your 4-hour photography tour then begins at the picturesque fishing port of Agios Sostis. With the beautiful Cameo and Turtle islands stretching across Laganas bay, and fishing boats bobbing on the clear water, it’s the perfect location to learn composition techniques, improving your photos dramatically.
Keri village, encompassed by sweeping panoramas of ocean, mountain and sky, is your next destination. In this peaceful environment, with the sun sparkling down, capture the harmony of humanity and nature, with a deeper understanding of the importance and aims of photography.
Later, back at the villa, where you can relax or take the time to explore and swim at the famous sweeping bay of Laganas. This evening, join your hosts and fellow guests, for a homemade dinner, accompanied by Antonio’s chilled house wine.
After a hearty breakfast, meet Dimitri and head to Kalamaki Beach. As one of the most important nesting grounds of the sea turtle Caretta-Caretta, discover the turtle nests scattered across the golden sands, and chat with volunteers from the National Marine Park to find out more information.
Next, indulge on an incredible turtle boat trip. Spot and even swim alongside some of the graceful loggerhead turtles. Swim at the breathtaking Keri caves and next to the heavenly “Marathonisi Island". Natural and intriguing, with beautiful sands and caves to explore, it’s the perfect place for snorkeling, swimming or just a paddle.
In the evening, join your hosts and fellow guests for a delicious “Mousaka” dinner.
Today, Dimitri will explain how the exposure triangle works, while exploring the historical region of Bochali. Capture the fascinating local history and heritage running through the ancient churches, cobblestone streets, the Venetian castle and the beautiful traditional architecture.
Enjoy a coffee break with sweeping panoramas of the town, the harbour, and the glistening sea, before exploring Zakynthos town and learning about the local history. Enjoy a traditional souvlaki lunch by the harbour before heading back to Laganas.
Back to your accommodation, you will have enough time to relax before you enjoy a seaside dinner overlooking the calming waters of Laganas bay.
The inspiration of the day will come from the authentic and peaceful lifestyle of local producers, where you’ll be encouraged to take pictures. First stop is at the nearby Aristeon Olive Press and museum to learn how the humble olive is transformed into the precious oil that gives Zakynthians their lust for life and sample the extra virgin olive oil with warm village bread.
Next stop is at the Grampsas estate: a family-run vineyard and winery. The son, Tassos, will talk you through the wine-making process and the display of former equipment, followed by a sampling of white and red wines with local cheese on the terrace.
Following this culinary experience, we will visit the spectacular Eleftherotria convent, while a short drive takes us to the next village, Machairado, to meet Father Nicholas, who will guide you inside the ornate St. Mavra church and museum. Nikos, the talented woodcarver of the village, will then show you his studio and art work.
Now, it’s time to meet Dennis (the village’s taverna owner) and enjoy the traditional meal he has prepared for you, under the shade and aromas of the olive trees.
This evening, explore the north side of the island with your tutor. Your journey will begin off-the-beaten track, with a photo tour through the picturesque villages of Koiliomenos and Agios Leon. Talk to the locals and capture the red-roofed houses, hidden within the emerald green slopes, before witnessing an incredible sunset at Porto Vromi. Analyse your photos during a photo critique session, learning how to improve your composition and angles.
Spend the day at leisure, employing your newly developed photography skills in the local landscape, or while participating in an optional activity. These include a variety of activities, such as cooking, gardening, horse-riding and spa treatments, just to name a few!
In the afternoon, meet your photographer for a photo critique session. Learn how to improve your photo organization and choose your five best images from the week’s adventures.
In the evening, get ready for a magical sunset dinner. With captivating views over rugged crags and the ocean, shimmering below, it is an experience that you’ll never forget. Zakynthos is called the jewel of the Ionian Sea for a reason, after all!
Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime sailing experience, towards the captivating northwest coast of Zakynthos. Sailing past the secluded coves, crystal clear water, dramatic sea caves and white sand, you’ll arrive at the mesmerizing Shipwreck Bay and the Blue caves - some of the most famous sights of the island.
In Orthonies village, participate in a “farm to fork” culinary experience at a family-run mountain taverna. Athina will provide a live cooking demonstration of free-ranged stuffed chicken, in tomato sauce, with plenty of opportunities for audience participation!
Take your place beneath the shadows of an ancient oak tree and enjoy the meal you helped to cook, alongside local wine, and homemade dessert to add that final sweet flourish.
Back at the villa, to relax and spend your evening at leisure.
Today, you have the opportunity to spend the day as you wish - swimming and relaxing at Agios Sostis bay, for example, is always popular! Discover this little oasis of calm, with sun beds on the grass and a rustic beach bar, providing stunning views of the islands across the sea.
With a delicious beach lunch, there’s no need to even leave this slice of paradise. With the sun and the tickle of the waves against your toes, what more could you possibly ask for?
In the evening, dress up for our Farewell Greek celebrationt at “Dennis” tavern. This is your chance to enjoy a traditional Greek celebration, with a great BBQ, local wine and Greek live music and dancing. Enjoy the sounds of the bouzouki while learning how to dance syrtaki, embracing and celebrating the traditions of a rich and beautiful culture.
A grand finale to a great week!
This morning, make the most of your final moments to do a little last-minute shopping on Laganas Main Street, or head to Laganas beach, to feel the softness of the water, one final time. You will be taken to the airport or port in plenty of time for your departure.
Then, as we say - “Kallo Taxidi!” Have a safe journey home, and remember your experience for years to come.
As you are learning in a small group, tuition will be adapted to your own individual needs, whether it is getting to grips with your camera or taking your existing skills to the next level.

The mesmerizing island of Zakynthos, with its crystal-clear turquoise waters and breath-taking sea and mountain views, plays host to this memorable photography holiday experience. You will stay at the Spiros family apartments, located 300 meters from Laganas beach, yet with easy access to town center amenities.
Each apartment, with its beautiful coastal-inspired interior, has its own bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and a large balcony overlooking the garden. Arrive at Zakynthos International Airport (ZTH). Antonio, your host will pick you up from the airport. The pick-up is included in the price.
Transfer from and to Zakynthos International Airport (ZTH). As an alternative to flying, guests that arrive at Athens International Airport (ATH) can use a shuttle bus or taxi from the airport to Kiffisos bus station. The national coach service KTEL has direct connections to Zakynthos. It is approximately a 4-hour journey and an hour journey on the Zakynthos - Kyllini ferry. The total commute takes approximately 5 hours. By car, this journey is reduced to approximately 3 hours.
Ferry boat from Venice, Ancona, or Brindisi to Patras is an alternative if you travel either by car or train. It takes about 20 hours with the superfast ferries from Venice to Patras. Then, there is a further hour drive by car or bus from Patras to Killini, from where the ferry boat takes you to Zakynthos Town in one hour. Zakynthos can be easily reached by boat from Killini port or Kephalonia Island.
