Wild View Retreat has a range of different styles of first-class accommodation, all designed to match your personal retreat needs—whether it be your own luxurious double room with uber comfy super-king-size bed, your own secluded outdoor yurt, or the Shepherd’s Hut with impeccable views. They have a range of accommodation types with varying price options to meet your needs. It is cheaper to share, either with a friend or partner or with another retreat guest of the same gender. But, you are also welcome to choose to go for single occupancy.
Either way, you are set to love the accommodation at Wild View Retreat. Each interior has been tastefully designed and decorated with simple, locally sourced materials. All outdoor accommodations have been built by hand using a combination of recycled wood reclaimed from the old ruins left beforehand and local materials. To retain group ambiance and ensure wonderful connections with all fellow guests, they allow up to 22 guests per retreat plus their team of up to six.
Note that this is an outdoor option, please bring a flashlight and warmer clothes in the cooler season. Also, the yurt is not available from November to April.
Fasting is a tool to detox the body for a set period only. It’s a fantastic way to reboot the bodily systems that control your attitude to food, kick-starting a new healthy regime after the fast. Fasting is not something to be done long-term, as the macronutrients (fats and protein) that you purposely restrict on the fast are critical to your health and dietary needs.
During the retreat, your qualified nutritional therapist provides daily wellness talks to educate guests on nutrition and the difference between fasting and balanced dietary living and you break the fast on the last day with a nutritious, healthy meal to aid a safe transition. What you consume during the fast is completely the opposite of what you should do when you get home. The objective is for all guests to enter into a calorie deficit to initiate the detox process.
You do this by removing fats and protein and providing light carbohydrates in the form of juices and soups (about 1200 calories a day) to provide sufficient sustenance to participate in the various activities during the week. The average human burns about 1500 calories a day just from being. So if you add in the yoga and fitness classes along with the guided walks, guests all enter in calorie deficit by the end of the first day.
If guests prefer to rest all week and not participate in the activity, entering a calorie deficit, and the detox takes a little longer. Once in a calorie deficit, the body goes into its natural ‘survival mode’ as it is ‘starved’ of its typical form of energy (glucose). This is when the magic happens:
Note, guests rarely report feeling physically hungry during the fast. This is because guests are busy and distracted with regular and frequent activity and juice servings. With no fridge to open or local shop nearby and everyone collectively in the same boat, emotional triggers soon dissipate and guests sail through the week devoid of physical hunger.
Please note it is important to do some light preparation in the weeks leading up to the retreats. They regret they do not allow guests on a fasting week who have BMIs under 18 or have a history of eating disorders. The age range is 18-75. All medical history must be declared on the health form and submitted no later than four weeks before.
You can take part in guided walks during the retreat. However, all activities are optional.

Wild View Retreat has arisen from the ruins of an abandoned mountain village of Corgas Bravas, in the foothills of the Algarve in Portugal. The place is defined by its spectacular uninterrupted 360-degree views of the Serra do Caldeirão mountains, a Zona De Intervenção Florestal protected for its natural beauty and famous Portuguese cortiça (cork) trees. There are no cars, no roads, no buildings, and no neighbors in the area.
There will be nothing but wilderness and nature, nothing to hear but the birds and the wind, and nothing to do but restore and relax the body, mind, and soul. The old abandoned village of Corgas Bravas took two years to be fully restored into a custom-built wellness retreat whilst ensuring the traditional architecture and natural environment of the local Portuguese setting are 100% sustained.
During this detox retreat, you will be provided three delicious juices or smoothies every day alongside a warming homemade nutritious soup in the evening, included in the price. The juices have been carefully designed by a nutritional therapist to support the detox process yet keep nutrient levels sustained to enable daily participation in fitness and yoga classes.
The busy program of activities is deliberate to keep you distracted while you go through the fast. Nobody ever goes ‘physically’ hungry, often mistaking habitual mental hunger for the real thing. On the last day of the fast, guests have the option to break the fast with a light plant-based meal prepared by them all in a fun workshop environment under the guidance of the nutritional therapist.
Massages can be booked at the retreat for 70 EUR (cash only). All massages must be pre-booked in advance to guarantee appointments.
