They invite you to come to explore the incredible region of Abruzzo through the eyes of local farmers, fishermen, winemakers, and artisans. From sunrise to sunset, you will be captivated by the amazing rooftop panoramas. Rest your head and kick up your feet as you enjoy hospitality at its finest. Tie on a chef's apron or lace up a pair of hiking boots for your own personalized, all-inclusive adventure in their original 200-year-old villa.
Dimora Morello is a restored 200-year-old structure nestled on a hillside overlooking local farms. All of the rooms provide breathtaking views and cozy comfort is at its finest with most rooms having freestanding bathtubs resting in front of fireplaces. A well-equipped teaching kitchen alongside a farm-style table to accommodate all of the guests is also available.
The group will meet at Rome Fiumicino Airport Leonardo da Vinci (FCO) between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. If your arrival is at a different time, they will provide instruction on how to be transferred to the villa. Upon arrival at the villa, a family member will welcome you and will guide you to your room.
You will then have time to unpack, relax, and maybe have a refreshing glass of Prosecco by the garden. In the early evening, you will take a guided tour of the villa led by your host. You will then enjoy an aperitif before your first homemade Abruzzo dinner including the estate wine.
After breakfast, you will drive through the beautiful Abruzzo countryside and visit the Fortress of Civitella del Tronto, which stands at 600 meters above sea level. A very strategic position at the old northern boundary between the Kingdom of Naples to the south and the Kingdom of the Holy Sea to the north. This is one of the largest and most important creations of military engineering in Europe.
Next, you will have lunch at a family-owned restaurant where you will enjoy the local cuisine. Later that evening you will participate in your first cooking class at Dimora Morello.
Upon waking up at Dimora Morello, you will enjoy a fresh homemade breakfast. You will then drive through the magnificent countryside of Abruzzo for your first winery visit, which is located at Castel di Lama. The grapes that you will enjoy include Pecorino, Passerina, and Piceno. You will be attended by the sommeliers Paolo and Peppe as they explain the different techniques of the production and the history of the family and their wine.
Following this, you will start tasting all the different wines with a pairing of delightful local meat and cheese served on the patio. Your next stop is the old medieval town of Offida, where you will enjoy the serenity of the piazza, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. After dinner at Dimora Morello will follow a nice walk by the seaside of Tortoreto.
Following breakfast, you will visit the legendary Nunzio, a world-recognized Pecorino cheesemaker on the beautiful farm of Anversa. With about 15 cheese varieties, derived from 100% range feeding cattle each of them having specific organic properties. You will have lunch at the farm enjoying these organic cheeses and meat produced here, the historic plentiful mountains are a continuous surprise.
From medieval towns to old sheepfolds and cattle tracks, it is still possible here to experience the rhythm of nature. This is, after all the legacy of the shepherd traditions that have fed this territory. From Maiella to Camosciara, the core of Abruzzi Natural Park the “reign” of local species still roams free. For example, the brown bear (Orso Bruno Marsicano), the chamois (Camoscio d’Abruzzo), and the legendary wolf of the Apennines (Lupo Appenninico). You will end your adventurous day at Dimora Morello with Walter’s delectable Arrosticini.
After breakfast, you will visit the seaside town of San Benedetto for shopping at the mercato (market), and following you will purchase fresh fish for your cooking class. Next, you will have lunch at a trattoria Anchise in Tortoreto Alto village, then you will take a short walk to the breathtaking fortellezza (panoramic view) of the Adriatic Sea.
You will return to Dimora Morello for a pennichella (nap) and in the afternoon, you will attend the cooking class for a fantastic dinner and wine to celebrate your holiday.
You are approaching the end of the holiday, this will be a long day but 100% worth it! After breakfast, you will travel to Rocca Calascio where you will visit the medieval castle, truly one of the most beautiful sights a person can imagine! For its fascinating position, the Rocca was often used as the scenery for epic movies, such as Lady Hawk, The Name of the Rose, and The Highlander.
This is such an incredible location you will stay for lunch at the local restaurant under the fortress and you will feel as though you are transported back to medieval times. Following this experience, it is time to have fun hunting truffles in San Demetrio Nevestini, where the local truffle master will guide you.
After a long day, a large bottle of Montepulciano will be waiting for you to enjoy along with a lovely dinner including all the delicate truffles you find. Upon arriving back at the villa, the wine cellar will be open for any courageous guests that wish to carry on.
The holiday is not finished yet… After breakfast, you will enjoy a cooking class for lunch, served in the garden like how Italians love to; under the shade at a slow pace, you will have a delicious meal with wine. Sharing the love of culinary perfection, passion, and humor with the raising of a glass. Following lunch and a time for you to rest, you will be brought to the beach to relax for a few hours while your hosts prepare the grand finale for a spectacular dinner on the tower balcony.
Starting with an aperitif during the sunset, by the time you end the dinner, you will be enjoying the breathtaking sky under the stars celebrating life.
Starting with a very early breakfast, your hosts sadly end their time with you. After the toss of a coin from the tower, like they do at the Fountain of Trevi, they will transport you back to Rome for your flight. They hope to see you all for another adventure next season!
The region of Abruzzo is still an undiscovered paradise lying between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. With an incredibly dramatic mountainside and a direct view of the Adriatic Sea, the villa lies on the eastern side of Central Italy.
The Adriatic coastline has been recognized as a sun and beach mecca for years, perhaps more so than any other in Central Italy. In Poggio Morello, you will find a sanctuary, places where time has truly stood still.
Poggio Morello is a small town in the Province of Teramo, which is 27 kilometers away and occupies the summit of one of the hillsides close to the Salinello River Valley, 184 meters above sea level, and about 10 kilometers from the Adriatic Coast.
Everything served at the true agriturismo you will find is cultivated locally. You will get to taste homemade pasta, bread, and pastries, as well as tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, herbs, peppers, lemons, figs, and pomegranates, picked daily. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. Lunch and dinner will be perfectly paired with wines.
From sunrise to sunset, you will be captivated by the amazing rooftop panoramas. Rest your head and kick up your feet as you enjoy hospitality at its finest. Tie on a chef's apron or lace up a pair of hiking boots for your own personalized, all-inclusive adventure in this original 200-year-old villa.
