You will be accommodated at accommodations in Cape Town, Barrydale, Oudtshoorn, Prince Albert, Wilderness, and Cape Agulhas. During the tour, you will stay in hotels, upmarket guesthouses or lodges. About Africa adventure biking strives to provide for and four-star hotels or select accommodation throughout the journey where available. In remote or rural areas, you will stay in hotels or guesthouses.

Accommodations have been personally verified to ensure the requirements of a motorcycle traveler are met after every riding day (i.e. comfortable bed, clean room, hot shower, a delicious meal, and a bar). About Africa strives to provide a relaxing and comfortable environment for their guests.

Program

Day 1: Cape Town

You will arrive in Cape Town and will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel. After that, you will get a tour briefing and your bike. The rest of the day, you just need to enjoy a welcome evening meal on the Waterfront in Cape Town.

Day 2: Barrydale

You will depart from Cape Town and travel to the north past picturesque winelands areas of the Cape. You will travel through the quaint town of Franschhoek. Ride over the Franschhoek pass, used by the elephants in the past to traverse the mountain for grazing. You will ride onto Montagu via Villiersdorp. In Montagu, you will stop for lunch. After you get your lunch, you will proceed to Barrydale for your first stop for the night in the little Karoo. You will get your supper in Barrydale.

Day 3: Oudtshoorn

After leaving Barrydale, you will travel north and you will have a quick visit to Ronnies. You will ride through Ladismith which is well known for its cheese production and ride onto Carlizdorp, the Port capital, and then followed by riding onto Oudtshoorn which is South Africa’s ostrich farming capital. You’ll arrive for lunch and then you are highly recommended to have a visit to an ostrich farm. After a tour of the ostrich farm, you will make your way to the accommodation for check-in. You will have a meal together.

Day 4: Prince Albert

After breakfast, you will depart for the Cango Wildlife Park. After a visit to the park, you will make your way to Prince Albert via the Swartberg Pass (1,568 meters) with some gravel roads as part of your route. Prince Albert has beautifully preserved Cape Dutch, Karoo, and Victorian buildings, many of which are national monuments. You will get traditional South African braai this night as well as stargazing in the Greater Karoo. Prince Albert is just south of Sutherland which is considered as a prime star-gazing destination.

Day 5: Wilderness

You will travel the south through Meiringspoort pass. The Swartberg is amongst the best exposed fold mountain chains in the world, and the pass slices through magnificently scenic geological formations. You will ride past De Rust and through the Outeniqua Pass dropping down to the Indian Ocean and to the lively beachside town of Wilderness, home to wide beaches and trails. Wilderness is the map of Africa, a hilltop lookout point, which has views of the Indian Ocean, the Outeniqua Mountains, and the Kaaimans River. Near Wilderness Natural Park is the part of the sprawling Garden Route National Park which is a habitat for wildlife including leopards, monkeys, and eagles. You will spend the night in the Wilderness. The supper is for each person own account and arrangement.

Day 6: Rest day in Wilderness and surrounds

Today, you could enjoy the beach or the estuary, perfect for walking or water sports. Do your own ride out or go bungee jumping at the highest bungee in the world (222 meters). Spend the day in Knysna if you prefer with many options for activities on the Knysna lagoon.

Day 7: Cape Agulhas

You will have a breakfast first, then traveling west and entering Mossel Bay which is ancient, stone age fish traps, and cutting-edge fuel from gas technology; Khoi-San herders and European traders which are the history of Mossel Bay is a microcosm of the history of South Africa herself. Leaving the Portuguese landings of Mossel Bay, you will travel west to Riversdal, Heidelberg, and onto Swellendam which is declared as a magisterial district, the third oldest in South Africa, a historical town in the Cape. You will have a light lunch in Swellendam. After traveling a short while the west, you will turn to the south to the most southern tip of the African continent. Historically, the cape has been known to sailors as a major hazard on the traditional clipper route. It is sometimes regarded as one of the great capes. It was most commonly known in English as Cape L'Agulhas until the 20th century. The town of L'Agulhas is located near to the cape. The dividing line between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans according to the International Hydrographic Organization. You will spend the night at the tip of Africa where you will have supper at the guest house.

Day 8: Cape Town

You will leave Agulas then ride to the west, traveling through Elim. It is established in 1824 by German missionaries as a Moravian mission station. When selecting the location, the missionaries placed a high priority on the proximity of water and on terrain that was suitable for planting vines. You will have a quick visit to Gansbaai, known for its dense population of great white sharks and as a whale-watching location.

Hermanus is your next stop. You will have lunch in Hermanus in a cave at the edge of the water. During whale season, this is especially rewarding. Hermanus is famous for southern right whale watching during the southern winter. Leaving Hermanus after lunch, you will ride to Cape Town via the famous Clarens. You will drive along the coast of False Bay.

Insurance Excess for motorcycle:

You will be liable for insurance excess of the cost to repair damage to the motorcycle with a minimum of ZAR 5000 and a maximum of ZAR 35 000. Although the bikes are fully covered for insurance purposes, the rider remains responsible for the excess amount before the insurance will pay out for any claim.

In case of any accident, the client must pay the excess before departing from South Africa.

Table Mountain Cableway and Cape Point

A trip up to the Table Mountain is quite rightly one of the first things a tourist wants to do when arriving in Cape Town. Once on the top, 1,000 meters above the city, you will be rewarded with a spectacular 360 degrees view. Take your time and enjoy this unique environment, go for a walk or have a bit to eat at the restaurant with arguably one of the best views possible.

At the tip of the Cape Peninsular, 60 kilometers south-west of Cape Town, lies Cape Point, a Nature Reserve within the Table Mountain National Park and a World Heritage site. Cape Point encompasses 7,750 hectares of rich and varied flora and fauna, abounding with the buck, baboons, and Cape Mountain zebra, as well as over 250 species of birds, Cape Point is a nature's enthusiast paradise.

Rugged rocks and sheer cliffs tower more than 200 meters above the sea over the ocean is providing a spectacular background for the parks rich bio-diversity. Further along the coast, at the southern-most point is the famous Cape Agulhas / Cape of Good Hope where the currents of the Indian Ocean meet the currents of the Atlantic Ocean. You will visit Table Mountain and Cape Point on the second day of the tour.

Cango Caves and Cango Wildlife Ranch

The spectacular Cango Caves are a subterranean wonderland of magnificent stalactite and stalagmite rock formations that attracts thousands of visitors annually. They extend more than two kilometers into the Swartberg Mountains and visitors can take guided tours that wind through narrow passageways and steep stairways linking the massive caverns.

The Cango Wildlife Ranch promotes awareness and conservation of endangered species while encouraging supervised interaction, making this a wonderful destination for children of all ages. Housing the oldest and largest cheetah contact center worldwide, visitors can view these powerful, speedy cats in a natural bushveld environment from elevated walkways. From predators of the land to predators of the water, visitors can then move on to the crocodile and alligator enclosures to study more of the world’s most dangerous beasts. You will explore the Cango Caves and Cango Wildlife Ranch on the fifth day of the tour.
