Day 1: Arusha - Marangu Gate (1,860 meters) - Mandara Huts (2,720 meters)
Pick up from Arusha Hotel or Moshi Hotel and drive via Marangu village to Marangu gate for registration. Here, you must have a senior and junior guide, two or three porters, and one chef who will accompany you up and down Marangu Route climbing. You cover a distance of seven kilometers from Marangu gate to Mandara huts.
You cover the rainforest and see some of the animals like Columbus monkeys and birds. The elevation of 2740 meters above sea level. From Mandara Hut, take a walk to Muindi Crater and enjoy the views of Nothern Tanzania and Kenya. Return to the huts for the first night in Mount Kilimanjaro, dinner, and overnight.
Day 2: Mandara Huts - Horombo Huts (3,720 meters)
The Marangu route climbing commences immediately after breakfast and is scheduled for seven to eight hours of climbing. You cover a distance of 11 kilometers from Mandara Huts to Horombo Huts. You cover the rainy forest and moorlands with the views of Horombo escarpments. You start experiencing the effects of the attitude as you will be at 3700 kilometers above sea level. You enjoy views of the Kibo Summit and Mawenzi Small Peak views.
Day 3: Horombo Huts (3,720 meters)
Breakfast then spend the day acclimatizing with a circuit walk from Horombo Huts, Mawenzi, and Kibo peaks back to Horombo Huts. This helps you to prepare for a higher attitude and get used to the current attitude. Anyone experiencing difficulties may prepare to descend back and not attempt the summit. The guides will assist in making sure each is fit to continue with the Marangu route climbing to Kibo Huts.
Day 4: Horombo Huts - Kibo Huts (4,703 meters)
After sharing breakfast with guides, porters, and chef, you commence the Marangu route climbing to cover 10 kilometers from Horombo to Kibo Huts. The estimated climbing hours are seven to eight hours as you ascend and descend the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo summit. At Kibo Huts, you will prepare to summit up to Uhuru Peak the following morning.
Day 5: Kibo Huts - Uhuru Peak - Horombo Huts (3,720 meters)
The chef will serve breakfast very early in the morning so that by 2:00 a.m., you start your climb for four kilometers up to the summit point. Marangu route climbing is the easiest route and you will arrive at the peak of 5895 meters / 19340 feet before sunrise. Enjoy thrilling views from all directions, celebrate, and take great pictures. Later, you have to descend a total of 14 kilometers down to Horombo huts. You are a conqueror having reached the highest peak in Africa. You enjoy your lunch at Kibo Huts, relax a bit, and continue to Horombo Huts for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Horombo Huts - Marangu Gate - Arusha
Early breakfast then get ready for 18 kilometers as you descend the final part of the Marangu route climbing. You walk through the moorlands and rainy forest. Arrive at Marangu gate to receive your certificates of your climbing achievement. Meet the car and driver then drive to Arusha or Moshi Hotel where you will say bye-bye to your Mount Kilimanjaro crews.
