Program

Day 1: Quito - Cuenca (459 km, 285 miles)

We’ll have a briefing in our rental motorcycle offices in Quito, where the last paperwork will be filled, gear will be given and tested and the bike of your choice will be delivered. Then, after a quick brief on roads, safety, and quick guide, you’ll depart on your Ecuador motorcycle tour.

We start with a long day, but very entertaining crossing the Ecuadorian Andes until we reach our destination, Cuenca. After a bike ride of 30 minutes, you’ll be leaving Quito. The first thing that greets us is the Cotopaxi volcano, this is the highest active snow-capped volcano in the world, it gives us its blessing and we start our trip in the best way.

We continue our adventure along the Pan-American highway heading south, we cross the city of Ambato to reach another iconic point, the Chimborazo Volcano. This is the closest point to the sun measured from the center of the earth. Our next stop is the Palmira desert, one of the few deserts in the Andes, a small stop to enjoy it and we continue towards one of the best landscapes that Ecuador has.

We arrive at the Chunchi valley, not only its landscapes are the strong point, but also a road with many curves that will allow us to enjoy our motorcycles 100%. After a couple of hours of enjoying the road, we arrive at our destination, Cuenca, which welcomes us with a pleasant climate and its colonial architecture. A small tour of the city ends with a delicious dinner with typical dishes of the country. Time to rest and prepare for the next day.

Day 2: Cuenca - Punta Sal (328 km, 203 miles)

After a good breakfast, we take a last look at Cuenca and continue south. We cross through fertile valleys full of livestock, agriculture, and colors, the perfect place to continue enjoying our rental motorcycles. Suddenly we arrive at the Santa Isabel Valley, a semi-desertic place in the Andes.

A small appetizer of what is to come, so we reach the coast, a pleasant heat welcomes us, this will be the weather for the next few days. We arrived at the border and, after carrying out the procedures and paperwork we arrived in Peru. Quickly, we can see the change in culture and vegetation. We are greeted by a coastal road that will take us to our hotel where we can enjoy a delicious swim in the pool and enjoy the sunset on the beach.

Day 3: Punta Sal - Chiclayo (416 km, 258 miles)

We start the day early, so we can take advantage of the cool weather in the morning. We leave the hotel and since we are going to cross deserts we must have our hydration ready. A short stop in Mancora to refuel and buy last forgotten items, sunscreen, water, etc. We start with a winding road that bids us farewell to Mancora, and we arrive at the beginning of the famous desert of Peru.

We will cross roads surrounded by sand dunes, inhospitable landscapes along the coast, and straight roads that will allow us to speed up a little more and arrive at our destination in a good time. Before arriving at the hotel, we visited the first cultural destination in Peru, the museum of the royal tombs of Mr. Sipan, a mummy found in the area along with all its ornaments and gold jewelry.

Day 4: Chiclayo - Trujillo (208 km, 129 miles)

Today we will have a relatively short day but for a very good reason. Today we will visit the largest archaeological site in the area, the Huaca or temple of the sun and the moon. A pre-Inca construction, its excavations are very well maintained where we can learn about the history, traditions, culture and way of life of the Moche culture.

All this is just 30 minutes from the hotel. if we have extra time we can visit the city of Chan Chan, another ruin located next to the city of Trujillo, in this way we also take the opportunity to rest one afternoon of our motorcycle trip.

Day 5: Trujillo - Caraz (242km, 150 miles)

A great day awaits us with a total change in climate, vegetation, and culture. We head towards the Peruvian Andes, but not before momentarily saying goodbye to the desert, the sea, and the heat. We take the detour to the well-known Pato Canyon, a spectacular road to take advantage of our adventure motorcycles, we can easily see the mountains to which we are heading, and we return to the curvy roads that we like so much.

The Pato Canyon welcomes us with its imposing stone walls that accompany us almost all the way, making us feel small as we ride along its paths along rivers, ravines, and tunnels built in the mountains. The Pato canyon is a hydroelectric dam that provides electronic light to a large part of the area, it is advisable to be prepared for all types of weather, we start at 40 degrees Celsius and will end at approximately 16 degrees Celsius, along the way we will have dirt roads and the possible stone falls, an incredible adventure with amazing landscapes.

Arriving at the hotel at 2300 meters high we can marvel at the first view of the Huascaran snow-capped mountain, a good campfire, and very friendly people with whom to share our adventure, some travelers just like us with whom we will share a unique night next to an incredible landscape.

Day 6: Caraz Loop (100km, 60 miles)

We get ready to reach 4200 meters. Today, we forget about the asphalt to take second-order roads and enjoy the motorcycles among landscapes taken from stories, among the clouds, and finally reach the Paron Lagoon, its emerald waters and surrounded snowy peaks will leave us breathless, it may be that the height also has something to do with it. In any case, a very special place where we can enjoy a good coca tea, kayak, walks, or boat rides by the lagoon.

Upon returning to the hotel and after a good lunch, we headed to visit another archaeological site in the area, the Tumsukaiko archaeological site, and then rest with a local craft beer.

Day 7: Caraz - Huaraz (180 km, 111 miles)

Today we are heading towards the Huascaran National Park, and in the highest tunnel in the world at 4736 meters, this destination will definitely fill us with happiness, traveling along a road in very good condition between snowy mountains, streams, valleys and many curves is the ideal place for our motorcycle trip.

From the highest point, we can contemplate the great Huascaran Valley. We follow the road to a small town full of culture, people very skilled with leather and clay, full of color and joy, we have lunch and continue our journey to our last destination in the Peruvian highlands, Huaraz, always with the snow-capped mountains accompanying us.

Day 8: Huaraz - Chimbote (100 km, 60 miles)

We return to the coast. That means that we continue with very fun roads full of curves that will accompany us for several hours until we reach the Sechin archaeological site, 82 years after it was discovered, this marked great replanting of what was known until now, being able to be considered this the parent culture of the Andean civilization of Peru.

We end the day with a great dip in the pool, and then a great dinner with traditional seafood from Peru, and the famous Tacu Tacu.

Day 9: Chimbote - Jequetepeque (265 km, 164 miles)

We speed up the day and head north towards a small town on the beach, so we can enjoy an afternoon at the beach.

Day 10: Jequetepeque - Piura (325 km, 201 miles)

We leave for Piura, the last city to visit in Peru, where we will enjoy a day of tranquility, a swimming pool, and delicious food. Last chance to buy souvenirs from Peru and what better way to do it than with Peruvian silver jewelry, very famous for its quality, we go to the town of Catacaos, where we can choose what we like the most.

Day 11: Piura - Loja (342 km, 219 miles)

Today we say goodbye to Peru, we make our way back to Ecuador, and in a short time, we will have a change of vegetation. We return to green mountains, a temperate climate, and a different culture. After customs procedures, we are back in Ecuador, have a homemade lunch, and continue along winding roads to our next destination, Loja.

We will be overwhelmed by the green vegetation that surrounds us, mountainous landscapes, and very friendly people who greet us with a smile. Loja is known for its culture, museums, artists, and spectacular landscapes.

Day 12: Loja - Ingapirca (280 km, 173 miles)

We already started the last leg of the return, and our next stop is the Ingapirca Ruins. A magnificent Inca place dedicated to the sun and moon gods, in it. Middle of the mountains of the Cañar valley, green landscapes that remain that way throughout the year, stories, and traditions are the main course of this place. At the end of the day, we will enjoy a wonderful hacienda house that is more than 200 years old, decorated with local fabrics and a very cozy atmosphere.

Day 13: Ingapirca - Quito (394 km, 244 miles)

Last day of adventure on our motorcycles, but we will enjoy the 100%. winding roads, mountains, valleys, and landscapes that will fill our spirit. upon our arrival at the offices of Ecuador Bike Rental, we will be greeted with a big smile knowing that we enjoyed this motorcycle trip to the fullest, along with the smile a cold beer awaits us. Many stories to tell of this magnificent adventure.
