Program

With the Bordeaux Ocean bike tour, you start your holiday through the Entre-Deux-Mers vineyard where there are many wine-tasting opportunities.

The Entre Deux Mers has 2,400 hectares and close to 10,000 hectares, making it the largest wine appellation in Bordeaux. If you’re fond of white wines this Bordeaux biking tour is for you! Entre-Deux-Mers and Graves are the best appellations in Bordeaux for wine production! You can visit wineries but you won’t find two same wineries!

Then you cycle into the forest of the Parc Naturel Régional des Landes before reaching the Arcachon bay. Famous for its oysters and its upscale resorts, such as Arcachon and Le Cap-Ferret, this little inland sea, open to the ocean, is also known for its exceptional natural heritage! Protected by the peninsula of Lège-Cap-Ferret and the famous Dune of Pilat, Arcachon Bay has a mild climate and plenty of sunshine throughout the year.

Beautiful oyster villages that have remained authentic, like Piraillan or Le Canon, located in Lège-Cap-Ferret, are well worth a visit. It’s an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful walk along the flowery streets lined with charming huts. You need to take a gourmet break on the terrace while enjoying fresh oysters and white wine!

Take the cycling tracks, which are quite flat, and enjoy the evenings in charming hotels and guesthouses. All that is needed is the road book and a touring bike to have a wonderful experience! To be more comfortable during your cycling tours, you can hire a bike or an E-bike as you prefer!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Aquitaine in Bordeaux and transfer to Cadillac

Arrive at the train station or at Bordeaux Airport. Bordeaux is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage. Transfer by cab to your 3-star hotel in Cadillac, where you will find the road book and bikes waiting for you.

Overnight in a 3-star hotel, breakfast included.

Warning: 3 different hotels are possible – same quality, depending on the availability.

Day 2: Cycling in the Entre-Deux-Mers area

Start the holiday by cycling through the ‘Entre-deux-Mers’ region, discovering the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux wine-making region, and exploring the Côtes de Bordeaux in Saint-Macaire area. This is the first area for white wine production in Bordeaux wine region. You can ask for a guided tour in a chateau and you’ll do a tasting of red wines and you’ll learn all about winemaking, winemakers, Grands Crus, French wine regions, appellations, French wines, grape varieties like Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot or Merlot!

The Entre-Deux-Mers was the home of the most important characters of this area: the painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec at Château Malromé and the writer François Mauriac at Domaine de Malagar, an estate covered with vineyards.

The beautiful villages in the area simply invite you to cycle through them! On your road cycling, discover the medieval merchant town of Saint-Macaire through undulating vineyard terrain taking in the spectacular trip view of the Garonne River. Then your itinerary will guide you to the Bastide de Cadillac, renowned for its chateau and sweet white wines.

As a cyclist, you’ll go through the valleys carved out by the River Ciron to Leogats and Nouaillan, then Balizac where the ‘Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park,’ is situated, before reaching Origne.

Don’t miss the detour to Hostens where you can relax for a while on the expanses of beautiful white sand bordering a large lake hidden by trees.

The cycling track will then go between pine trees and heather to the small town of Le Barp.
