The Agriturismo " Fattoria di Statiano" includes the main farmhouse and a small outbuilding built in local stone, the reception area, which is housed in the farm building, and the spacious gardens with a fenced swimming pool and sunbathing areas.

Your hosts :

Tina and Paolo welcome you to Fattoria di Statiano. It is a small family-run business. In the 1950s, Ettore Castaldi - Tina's grandfather - bought Statiano farm with its 70 hectares of fields, woods, and its ancient house dating from 1750.

In 2001, Tina and Paolo restored the old house creating a farmhouse and agriturismo: Fattoria di Statiano. They were fulfilling their dream of living in the heart of the Tuscan countryside where Tina always had her roots and Paolo too, as he has lived and worked in Tuscany for more than thirty years.

Tina underwent a great change in her life moving from a city on the coast to the middle of the countryside. She loves preparing breakfasts, growing herbs and roses, and tending the garden. She enjoys telling you all the things there are to do around the area and generally spending time with her guests which she finds very interesting.

Paolo has been working in biological agriculture for 30 years and was part of “Biomaremma”. For him, biological farming is a challenge when you apply it so meticulously but it’s a part of his search for harmony. At Statiano you can also meet Davide (Paolo’s son) and Matilde and Leonardo (Tina’s niece and nephew) who come to lend a hand with the seasonal work of the farm. Their involvement ensures that there will always be a future for Statiano and its dream. You can meet also some woofers and students.

The agriturismo has got 3 panoramic double rooms and 4 apartments.

  • 2 double rooms are on the first floor, 1 is on the ground floor.
  • 2 apartments are on the ground floor and have got 2 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, a bath with shower, and a private terrace.
  • 2 apartments have a private garden and a kitchen on the ground floor and 2 bedrooms and two baths with showers on the upper floor.

The building is surrounded by a large garden with a pool, and scented plants like roses, for example, but also rosemary and sage. The view of the sunset is amazing.

Extra linen and towels are available with payment.



  • Arrival and welcome aperitive with Statiano wine, “bruschette” with extra virgin olive oil, local “pecorino” cheese, and marmalades of apple quince and grapes, or roses or any local organic fruits.
  • Double bedrooms and apartments will have fresh “fiori di campo” (wild fresh flowers) in May and June, a basket with locals and organic fresh fruit, and the possibility to make delicious coffee in the bedroom.
  • In the common area, every day from 5 p.m., guests will find a buffet with lemon water, ginger hot infusion, water, coffee, and a fresh cake or homemade biscuits. Statiano is a building of ancient origin, lovingly restored in 2003. With its elegant presence, this is a building of some standing. It has also a large garden: it is a perfect place to relax and cool down. This is a perfect opportunity for those who wish to immerse themselves in the Italian food culture and experience village life. The pool and the backyard of the house have sunbeds set out to enjoy the garden view, while the pool provides a welcome way to cool down the summer heat.

  • 08:30 - 10:00 Breakfast for guests staying in the bedrooms only. Guests staying in apartments will find at their arrival homemade biscuits and coffee, jam, bread local butter, and eggs.
  • 11:00 Transfer to Volterra everybody on his/her own. Lunch at " Chik and chock" sandwich and ice- cream shop, where you can taste for example, a delicious hot wildeboar and pecorino sandwich, and Fattoria di Statiano's favorite pistachio ice cream! Lunch is not included.
  • 14:00 Free time in Volterra: You can go around in Volterra on your own, it is such an amazing medieval town! It was the 2022 first Capital of Tuscan Culture! You can decide to come with Fattoria di Statiano and visit the Etruscan Museum! (ticket is not included). It really deserves a visit, and if it is not the first time you visit Volterra, Fattoria di Statiano really recommends the visit. You will pay much attention to all the stuff used at Etruscan time for food and wine.
  • 16:00 Transfer to Saline di Volterra, just in the midway to go back to Statiano. There, you visit the salt mines of Volterra, an incredible place to visit. From the Etruscan to the Romans, then in the Middle Ages, the ancient donkey caravans were loaded with sacks of salt. Later the Granduchy of Tuscany decided to give birth to one of the first industrial plants in Italy which grew together with the community, to arrive in the XX century when a young Architect, Nervi, realized the pavilion which still houses the suggestive salt waterfall.
  • 19:00 Back to the agriturismo
  • 19:30 Dinner at the farm with a view of the sunset. It is the best way to relax.


  • 08:30 - 10:00 Breakfast for guests staying in the bedrooms only.
  • 11.00 - 13.00 Cooking lesson about handmade pasta: gnocchi and Fettuccine. You will enjoy your pasta all together for lunch. You will prepare also pesto with fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil.
  • Afterward, you can take your time and spend it in the pool (when it is open from June to 1 week of September) in the afternoon
  • 15:00 Visit the olive grown. In September, we visit in the afternoon the olive mill, and see the process of trasforming olives in extravergine olive oil.
  • Then, you can go and visit beautiful neighborhoods like Querceto Castle, an amazing castle nearby at the end of a forest. There you can book and take time to take an aperitivo with their white wine.
  • 19:30 Dinner at the farm


  • 08:30 - 10:00 Breakfast for guests staying in the bedrooms only.
  • 11.00 - 13.00 Tasting wine, some points on how the wine is produced, some points on how to taste the wine from using your nose and your palate, some historical storytelling about Sangiovese, and some secrets on how to pair it with food. Just a marvelous time to pass with Tina, one of the owners who is also a professional sommelier, and the other guests.
  • 15:00 - 17:00 Pasta lab: gnudi and tortelli maremmani
  • 19:30 Dinner at the farm with gnudi and tortelli

  • 10:00 Transfer to Cecina to visit its food market and buy some delicious food. You will use it to prepare your late evening "aperitivo". You will be amazed by the colorful and lively market!
  • 12.30 Transfer to Marina di Cecina and lunch at Delfino along the sea at Le Gorette, which serves amazing fresh fish (price is not included)
  • 17:00 How to prepare a quick and memorable Italian “apericena” so you can recreate it when you are home

Included excursions

From June to the first week of September, the pool will be open, so you can spend your time to relax there!

We will visit Volterra, have an incredible " wild boar and pecorino panino " and a creamy italian icecream, we will visit the salt mines of Volterra, Querceto Castle, and Cecina popular food market, eat a "cecina" food streat, have an amazing fish lunch at il Delphino restaurant along the sea.

We will learn to make pasta, we will explore tasting wine and have a tasty " apericena"!


Castaldi Tina


You will find the farmhouse in Val di Cecina in the most evocative Tuscan landscape of the Maremma land. Surrounded by gentle hills covered in woodland, olive grew and ancient hamlets, the farmhouse "Statiano" is a bit off the beaten tracks but in fact, it’s in a very strategic position: just half an hour's drive from the coast, from the legendary town of Volterra and the exit to the A12 motorway to Genoa.

The first cooking class will be dedicated to pasta making, the second to wine, the third to pasta again and the last to the Italian antipasto. After the classes, you will enjoy the food together!

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Pisa International Airport (PSA). Transfer from and to this airport is available at an additional cost of 85 EUR per transfer.

You can also rent a car at the airport. Fattoria di Statiano recommends renting them from home, you can rent for example from Budget or Europcar. If you rent an electric car, you can recharge it in Ponteginori, a 5-minute drive from here.

Driving directions from the A12 motorway

  • Once you have taken the A12 motorway direction to Rosignano Marittimo, reach the exit to Cecina, and straight on in the sr 68, direction Volterra, it is very easy.
  • Then, you turn in the village of Ponteginori. You are just 5 minutes away.
  • Take the sp 47 direction Micciano, until Km 16.
  • Once you are surrounded by cypresses, you will find Fattoria di Statiano on the right side of the street.
  • Put in Google Maps Fattoria di Statiano and do not hesitate to send Fattoria di Statiano a message if you wish, the team will send the position.

Arrival by train

From Cecina railway station (where you can get easily by train from Pisa international airport in just 1 hour) to Statiano and back from Statiano to Cecina railway station is totally 50 EUR each person. The time of the meeting point will be decided together with Fattoria di Statiano and communicated as soon as possible.

Transfer from Statiano to Volterra and then back from Volterra to Statiano, the price is 50 EUR each person.

From Statiano to Cecina and then Cecina mare and back to Statiano is 50 EUR per person.
