Travelling to Oban, on the west coast of Scotland, is a joy. Around three hours by car, coach or train from Glasgow or Edinburgh and less than 2 hours from Stirling, the scenic journey is a memorable part of a visit to this bustling seaside town.
Oban is easily reached from the central belt of Scotland. The traditional route is by car or bus via Tyndrum on the A82 which skirts the west side of Loch Lomond, then either the A83 over the 'Rest and be Thankful' and via Inveraray before heading north to Dalmally where you join the A85 onwards to Oban. For a slight detour, follow the A83 to Lochgilphead, before travelling through Kilmartin Glen and northwards to Oban.
