This 14-day Everest Base Camp trek tour is a well-known fact that Nepal has a lifetime's worth of natural and cultural wonders that offer the ultimate in adventure and cultural travel.
You will stay two nights at a hotel in Kathmandu and 11 nights at a tea-house accommodation. The accommodation at the local lodge known as the Guesthouse is simple but comfortable. Toilet and washing facilities are shared. In the guesthouse, travelers are provided twin-sharing rooms with twin beds, mattresses, and pillows. In high season (March to May) and September to November) in places, there are few numbers of guesthouses so sometimes travelers may do dormitories.
In some places, guest house depends on solar power. In remote regions, the guest house does not have a toilet and running water can mean just a hole in the ground. A hot shower facility is available in some guesthouses for a price but occasionally hot shower means a bucket of hot water that is enough to wash your body. Electricity and Wi-Fi are available in some places for an additional cost.

You can undertake the EBC trek according to your pace, and the standard itinerary is a 12-day trek round trip from Kathmandu to EBC and back.
You can expect to walk around six to seven hours every day, covering an average of 15 kilometers. Guides and porters are extremely well-trained and experienced, have your back, and are with you in every thin and thick phase of this trek. You may reach Kathmandu a few days earlier before joining the scheduled trip. You will be trekking on hilly terrain, generally on well-defined paths, walking between three to seven hours per day, on average about five hours a day. The altitude may exceed 5,545 meters.

The walking journey to the base camp of Mount Everest is not an easy endeavor. The altitude and weather of the Everest region pose the most difficult challenges to the trekkers. Trekking to the Everest Base Camp takes you to an elevation of, 5,380 meters or 5,545 meters (18,187 feet) (Kalapathar), where most people often experience altitude sickness.
Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is very common and curable, but a lack of attention to AMS symptoms can lead to severe altitude problems like high-altitude pulmonary edema and high-altitude cerebral edema. You must acclimatize well and be accompanied by well-qualified guides who will provide you with adequate information about the weather altitude, and the Mountain. If you are physically fit and mentally prepared with enough courage and determination to face challenges, then the Everest Base Camp walking is the right choice for you.
Once you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport, your dedicated airport representative is going to welcome you warmly and present you with a garland of marigold flowers at the arrival gate. You are going to be comfortably transferred to your hotel for a pleasant and fruitful overnight.
Catch an early flight to Lukla (it takes around 35 minutes), and then grab your first cup of tea or coffee to help you warm up before starting your trek through a Sherpa village on a level, easy trail that leads to Phakding. In the high season, the Lukla flight may take off from Ramechap additionally.
Please be aware that, to reduce air traffic and possible delays, all STOL flights may be scheduled from Ramecheap-Lukla-Ramechap during peak season. Ramechap is about 130 kilometers (five hours) from Kathmandu. From Ramechap, the flight to Lukla takes only 15 minutes. As a result, you will be departing the Kathmandu Hotel early in the morning, about two or three.
The journey towards the Majestic Himalayas sounds breathtaking. The sight of those towering peaks must be awe-inspiring, especially as you make your way through the pine forests and along the yak trails. Namche Bazaar is such a vibrant spot nestled amidst this incredible landscape. Catching that first glimpse of iconic peaks like Mount Everest, Amadablam, and Thamserku must truly be a moment to remember. It is experiences like these that remind you of the sheer magnificence of nature.
During the acclimation day in Namche, they are presented delightful options to hike up to Everest View Hotel, the highest five-star hotel on earth, from where you will have jaw-dropping views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhose, Ama Dablam, or hike to Khumjum village for the rich culture of Sherpa people, explore Adman Hilary school and Khunde hospital. Take a warm and organic lunch and go back to your hotel at Namche.
With magnificent views of Thamsherku, Ama Dablam, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and many more mountains, the first stage is easy and fluid. The second segment drops to the riverbank, Phunki Tanga. Then, while admiring the stunning vistas, increase roughly 800 meters to get to Tengboche through the pine forest. A wonderful overnight at the hotel.
Tengboche is the best place to view Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku in the back. Tengboche monastery is another attraction for tourists, so you may join for pooja in the morning and descend through the Rhododendron forest. Facing the giant mountain range towards Chhukung Valley.
This is another great day to acclimatize yourself, as you have various options to enjoy your day. The first option is exploring Chhuking Valley offering magnificent views of the mountains and surroundings, including Mount Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Island Peak. Chhuking is the last village and gateway to Island Peak. After lunch, you can hike up to Chhukung Ri as well.
The second option is hiking up to Nagarjuna Hill, which is just above Dingboche village. This could be a tough hike as it is steep, but you will have a great chance to view Mt. Makalu, which is another 8,000 meters peak, and enjoy the best sunset view from the top. Both options offer a unique experience. It always depends on your physical fitness.
As you are walking in a high-altitude area, remember that you need to have proper high-altitude acclimation and stay hydrated. The trek gradually ascends towards the north face of Dingboche, crosses the river, and stops for the first break for hot tea/coffee at Dhukla. The path goes steep up to Lobuche. You visit Chorten, Mane Stone, and all the panoramic views of the 8000-meter mountain. The last part is an easy and pleasant walk to Lobuche for an overnight stay.
You are on the lap of the Himalayan range. Gorak Shep is the initial base camp of Everest. Until the 1950s, climbers set up camp at this place. Optional three hours or six kilometers hiked up to Everest base camp (5,360 meters) and back to the lodge. Or hike to Kala Patthar for sunset.
Early in the morning, start your trip to Kala Patthar for an amazing sunrise if you leave it on the previous day at the closest proximity of Lhotse and Mount Everest. On the button, you will view the biggest Khumbu glacier. After breakfast, trek to Pheriche for your comfort overnight.
Walking through the wide valley offers you great views of the Himalayas and take your time to visit the giant Sherpa village and monastery along the way to Namche Bazar. You might see the Trans Himalayan Market in Namche Bazaar.
Even though you are trekking back the same trails, a lot of different views and Sherpa village will keep your mind busy. Mostly, you descend and gradually flatten, so, this is an easy day but longer. Once you are at Lukla, you will have warm hospitality from the dedicated team of global adventure trekking for the farewell, as it is your last night of the trek.
Take a mountain scenic flight over the Himalayas to Kathmandu. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. The trip will conclude here. You are open for your wellness day in Kathmandu. Evening, farewell dinner in a Nepali restaurant. Remember: if you are traveling to the Everest region in October and April and May, then all the flights operate from Ramechap to Lukla and back.

Lukla Airport is a small Himalayan settlement at an elevation of 2,860 meters / 9,380 feet where the epic adventurous journey toward the Everest Base Camp starts. You will take the mountain flight from the capital city Kathmandu to Lukla Airport, the world-famous airport with the shortest runway and harsh surrounding landscape.
It is the acclimatization point before hopping off for the trekking. It stands at an elevation of, 3,440 meters / 11,283 feet and offers you the first glimpse of Mount Everest. People may decide on the Everest three-pass trek once they are here.
Tengboche Monastery is a peaceful and spiritual stop on your trekking journey that is situated at a ridge-top elevation of 3,867 meters / 12,713 feet. It is the Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Sherpa community and the largest Gumba in the Everest region that bridges the religious life of Sherpa with the rest of the world and gives blessings and compassion for a successful journey.
Sherpas and their culture are an indigenous community in the Himalayan region and a helping hand for the journey as you embark on your adventure. Landmark on the South ridge of Pumori is a not-to-be-missed spot during the EBC trek to take in a close view of Everest and other 20 giant peaks and get the best sunset and sunrise views on high mountains. Kathmandu to Lukla flights are often cleared in the trekking season time. However, all travelers are suggested to have a few backup days in the end as a backup day to catch their International flight. If the flights are canceled then you have the option to take a charter Heli flight that costs about 350-500 USD per person on a sharing basis. This also depends on the number of people. So make sure you have prepared your emergency fund just in case.
All domestic flight has a strict weight limit. 10 kilograms of your baggage and five kilograms of hand luggage are included in your tickets. Excess baggage will be charged at your own expense which will cost per kilograms about 100 INR. From 25th March 2024 till May 2024, all the Lukla flights are going to operate from Manthali Airport which is a 127-kilometer drive and takes about five hours. So note that there is no direct flight to Lukla from Kathmandu.
