Program
Drama - Kavala - Xanthi
You will meet and be greeted in the head offices where you will get acquainted with your BMW rental motorbike. You will do a short briefing on the tour, the itinerary, and then you will take off for the tour.
You will begin the tour at the town of Drama. Built at the foot of the imposing Falakro Mt, in a verdant area with abundant water sources, Drama is beautiful and hospitable, featuring picturesque neighborhoods, spacious squares, green areas, and well preserved neoclassical mansions.
The village of Adriani will be the next destination just on the outskirts of the city. You will visit the wineries of the area of N. Lazaridis and follow a guided tour of the production facilities, the maturing process as well as the degustation rooms, in order to “taste” the international award winning wines!
You will continue towards the village of Elatia which lies in the homonymous forest, an area ideal for motorcycle tours amongst the dense forest, rich in oak, chestnut, hazel, and beech trees.
Your next stop will be the elegant city of Xanthi, otherwise known as “Lady of Thrace”. Kosynthos River divides the city into the west part, where the old and the modern town are located, and the east part, the “Samakov district”, that boasts a rich natural environment. Both parts still preserve their traditional flair, mesmerizing visitors with their nobility and magnificence.
The cobbled narrow streets of the Old Town are decorated by gorgeous mansions, whose architectural style is a marvelous blend of local and ottoman architecture as well as Greek Neoclassicism architectural style. Together with the Byzantine churches and the picturesque squares, the city’s Old Town could be said to be an open museum, the glory of which remains untouched through the years.
You will then proceed to the famous Nestos River. You will have the chance to organize a kayak tour of the River that will mesmerize you. The unspoilt scenery, the spectacular serpentine like landscape, and the stupendous flora and fauna will provide the ideal scenery for relaxation.
Your next stop will be the amphitheatrically built city of Kavala. This wonderful city has so much to offer to the visitor. The impressive “Kamares”, an aqueduct built in 1550 and renovated in the 19th century, is 52 meters high, consisting of 60 arches and is the symbol of the city. The wonderful Acropolis and the castle overlook the city and the old town with the delightful tavernas will complete a wonderful puzzle of history, culture, and gastronomy!
