Have you ever sensed there is more to who you are than just your thoughts, emotions, sensations and the day to day story or working, shopping and watching movies? What if the key to true fulfilment lies not in improving, changing or escaping your human experience, but in fully embodying it? The essence of the Tantric path is embodied awareness. This retreat invites you into the experiential recognition and embodiment of your essential nature. This is a 7-day process of divine recognition and embodiment.
The main house is made of mostly natural materials: wood and bricks. It has a spacious meditation hall of 100 square meters with a wooden floor and lots of huge windows from which you can enjoy a panoramic peaceful view over the valley and forest.
In the same building, there is a kitchen and dining room in a traditional Mexican style, as well as bathrooms and six twin, triple, or quadruple rooms. There are large terraces, both covered and opened, where you can relax and enjoy nature. There are also hammocks on the territory as well as some beautiful spots where you can meditate alone.
Are you tired of restlessly scrolling through social media and other distractions?
Have you ever felt that there’s something you’re missing out on in life? Like an elephant in the room that you can’t quite see, but you know is there?
Do you ever feel burdened by the weight of life? Numb, dry, bored or fed up with the humdrum?
Or maybe you’ve been meditating for a while already, witnessing thoughts becoming more dry, abstracted from your life. Does that feel like the perfect freedom and joy that you were promised?
Embodied awareness touches the essence of the Tantric path—a journey into the heart of being where the body and awareness are revealed as two inseparable sides of the coin called life. This retreat invites you into the possibility of a life-changing recognition: the direct experience of your true self through contemplative inquiry, somatic meditation, and subtle body practices. Here, you move beyond intellectual/abstract understanding (“I am not this body or these thoughts.”) to an embodied realization, where every cell in your body awakens to the truth of who you are.
This practice is not about transcending the human experience, but fully embracing it. Through cultivating intimate awareness of the body—both the physical and the subtle energy body—you learn to inhabit your form with greater sensitivity and presence. The more you open and sensitize the body, the more the "honey" of your inner recognition—the essence of your being—flows effortlessly through your actions, speech, and presence.
The teachings and practices of this retreat are rooted in the traditions of classical Shaivist and Buddhist Tantra and Hatha yoga (in the style of Hridaya yoga).
Deep, reflective questioning that leads you to explore the nature of your own awareness, dissolving false identities and beliefs that obscure your true self.
The recognition of awareness/consciousness as the most subtle dimension of the body. Opens to the intuitive sense of non-separation between your physical form and the innermost pulsation of aliveness called ‘I’.
Techniques designed to awaken and develop sensitivity to the energy body, enhancing your ability to perceive and direct subtle energies within and around you. These practices cleanse the energy channels or ‘pathways of experience’, leading to deeper and more refined intimacy with life.
Consciousness is not limited to the conditioning of body and mind. Through profound and innovative movement practices, you open to the full range of your latent potential of self expression.
You will explore the recognition of non-dual awareness in pairs and while interacting with nature (outside in the forest!).
These practices are designed to bring you into a direct experience of embodied awareness, where you can feel the unity of your body and spirit in each moment.
Engaging in embodied awareness practices offers a path to deeper self awareness, acceptance, understanding and expression. As you cultivate this deep connection to your body and awareness, you’ll discover:
By grounding yourself in embodied awareness, you unlock a life of deeper fulfilment and spiritual realization, where every breath, every moment becomes an expression of your true self.
Kyle’s spiritual seeking and aspiration to find a deeper truth began when he was just a 15-year-old boy studying Buddhism in England. After traveling to Peru in 2013 to work with plant medicines, he met Sahajananda. Kyle connected very deeply with the teachings during his first Hridaya Silent Meditation Retreat. He decided to go to Mexico to go deeper in his practice and to partake in the Hridaya Teacher Training Course. Since that time, Kyle has been sharing the teachings and leading Hridaya Silent Meditation Retreats in many countries in Latin America.
Sasha is a Hridaya yoga teacher and meditation instructor. She also works as a psychotherapist. She has learned about ancient traditions of different cultures and approaches. For her, it was bliss to come in touch with Advaita Vedanta teachings, Ramana Maharishi’s Self-Inquiry method, and, especially, with Sahajananda’s teachings of Hridaya yoga, yoga of the spiritual heart. She is happy to have an opportunity to assist other people on the path.
The retreat will take place in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. You will rest in the healing power of nature, in the heart of Mayan culture.
The retreat center is situated in the forest, in the mountains of Chiapas (Mexico) which is a region of authentic Maya culture and numerous natural beauties. The house is situated just 10 to 15 minutes away by car from an ancient colonial town San Cristóbal de las Casas which is famous for its beautiful historical center and for being a cultural center where traditions from all over the world meet in music, food, and art.
At the same time before or after your retreat, you may easily visit numerous treasures of Chiapas, the region which has Mayan ruins, jungle, lakes, canyons, waterfalls, ocean coasts, and more. This area has a very balanced climate: situated at an altitude of 2200 meters, the temperature here is 18 to 25 degrees around the whole year, which makes it an ideal place for relaxation and meditation. Here, in a quiet and beautiful pine forest, they have created this small but very cozy place that is ideal for silent meditation group retreats or an individual solitary retreat.
During this retreat, you will be served delicious and healthy vegan and vegetarian meals with love included in the price. Hridaya Family Meditation Center offers wholesome vegan and vegetarian meals and desserts, based on the principles of the ancient Indian medicine Ayurveda. It takes into consideration not only the psychophysiological type, but also the area where you live, season, and time of the day. All meals are designed by Irina, the in-house nutritionist.
This area is particularly abundant with fruits and vegetables because there are various climate zones in the same region. So, in preparing the meals, they use local and seasonal products as well as some delicious fruits (mango, papaya, watermelons, guayaberas (guava), guanabanas (soursop), lychees, melons, passion fruit, and more) from the nearby areas of the tropical jungle.
The basic menu is vegan, but for those who wish, they offer some organic eggs, milk, and honey. There is no refined flour, refined sugar, refined oils, and trans-fats used in the meals. All food is made and served with love. Hridaya Family Meditation Center is happy to accommodate any special nutritional needs or preferences to make sure you have a delightful and transformational relationship with food during your stay with them.
