All prices do not include the bike. Italy on Motorbike does not own the fleet but partner with all major motorcycle rental companies in Italy. This allows them to offer you a vast choice of brands, models, and sizes so that you can find a bike you are familiar with and in your price range. Therefore this service will be governed by a separate contract between the traveler and the rental company directly, and Italy on Motorbike shall no way assume any liability for the transaction, cancellation, and execution of the service.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Alghero

Today is the day of individual arrival of all participants to the hotel in Alghero, where you will meet late in the afternoon and pick up the rental motorcycles. You will enjoy an Italian aperitif to break the ice and brief you on the tour, followed by a traditional Sardinian dinner.

Day 2: Alghero to Guspini, 250 kilometers / 155 miles

Today you head south, on exhilarating coastal roads full of beautiful bends, punctuated by picturesque villages with their painted facades (murales). You will then take beautiful winding roads inland to reach two of the most interesting archaeological sites of the island, including a nuraghe (UNESCO site). A real treat, this bike ride, but also for the eyes!

Day 3: Guspini, 160 kilometers / 99 miles

Today, two beautiful roads, one coastal and the other internal (the most beautiful and fun itinerary in Italy) await you, interspersed with abandoned mines and temples hidden in the woods. A fantastic day that is proposed to be finished on the beach or at the beautiful swimming pool of the hotel.

Day 4: Guspini to Cagliari, 180 kilometers / 112 miles

The journey continues towards the south. You will take the roads that the car and motorcycle manufacturers use for their commercials and tests, full of scenic coastal panoramas, with bends to take your breath away! You will have lunch in a typical restaurant before heading to Cagliari, where you will spend the night.

Day 5: Cagliari to Arbatax, 230 kilometers / 143 miles

If there is one thing that is not missing in the beautiful island of Ichnusa, it's the winding roads and that's why it's a biker's paradise! You take the motorcycles to head to the east coast of the island and it will go up and down, with plenty of bends, a real rollercoaster on other beautiful motorcycle roads. You will have typical Sardinian lunch en route.

Day 6: Arbatax (rest day)

After the past few days of strong emotions in the saddle, you are offered a day’s rest where you will be able to:

  • Enjoy the hotel by the sea, with its swimming pool and beautiful garden
  • Take a trip to the sea to see beautiful caves and swim in three beautiful coves that can be reached only by boat
  • To discover Giordano Loi's unique motorcycle sculpture creations and then a guided visit to a Sardinian goldsmith
  • Meals: breakfast

Day 7: Arbatax to San Teodoro, 250 kilometers / 155 miles

You take the road for the northeast of the island, with a superb itinerary on the mythical Orientale Sarda. An incursion into the heart of the island to see the village best known for its beautiful murales is a good excuse for other beautiful and perfect mountain roads. The typical lunch with the shepherds inland will leave its mark, after which a further fantastic twisty road will help you to digest. The day ends again on the coast.

Day 8: San Teodoro to Costa Paradiso, 240 kilometers / 149 miles

Today is another day entirely devoted to beautiful curves and the spectacular coastal landscapes of the Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast). You will make some brief stops in the most famous seaside resorts and then a visit to the "Tombs of the Giants" will complete this wonderful day that ends in another beautiful hotel on the coast.

Day 9: Costa Paradiso to Alghero, 230 kilometers / 143 miles

For your last day, you will make 1,000 turns between the landscapes of the Valley of the Moon, ancient forests, and the valley of the nuraghes; where you will stop for a very interesting visit, before taking the most beautiful route to return to Alghero, where at the end of the afternoon, you drop off the rental motorbikes before returning to your first hotel.

Day 10: Departure from Alghero

After breakfast, you are free to go home or continue to discover Italy independently. Things to do and see in beautiful Italy are countless and Italy on Motorbike will be happy to help you plan the rest of your trip!

Notes

  • On request, vast choices of motorbikes are available for hire from 494 EUR + 0.22 / kilometers for the whole tour on a BMW G650GS with top case and two side cases, third liability insurance, transfer hotel / rental point when picking up the motorcycle, and transfer rental point / hotel after dropping the motorcycle.
  • To hire a bike, you shall hold a valid driver’s license for motorcycles over 400cc and be at least 21 years old (25 for some models).
  • Riders from non-Schengen countries are usually not allowed to ride in Europe only with their national driver’s license and therefore need to have an International Driver’s Licence issued by the local authorities.
  • All tours are captained by an Italian tour leader on the own motorcycle who will not only lead up the way but also introduce our travelers the whole day long to the Italian way of life, culture, customs, history, food and wine and Dolce Vita.

To ensure the utmost attention to each traveler, as well as the safety of the group, the tour is fully escorted. Specifically, the personnel traveling with the group is:

Location

This tour starts and ends in Alghero, Italy. Please book your flight to arrive at Alghero-Fertilia Airport (AHO), Cagliari Elmas Airport (CAG) or Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB). Transfer from and to the airport is available upon request.

Arrival by ferry

Italy on Motorbike can provide you a transport from a port in Alghero. This service is not included in the price. Please send Italy on Motorbike an inquiry for more information regarding the pick-up.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
