A trip in Italy is an unforgettable, a must-do experience for your eyes, your heart, and your palate! The star of this tour is Tuscany, land of history and gastronomy, with its beautiful sceneries along the coast and in the inland, dotted with towers, churches and fortresses, huge farms, green hills, vineyards, and cypress trees where each nooks and crannies are a feast for the eyes.
Your accommodation will be in an en-suite room with buffet breakfast in hand-picked, classy, and charming first-class hotels (4 stars) that will satisfy even the most demanding guests, for it is emphasized to all the aspects that go into making a luxury holiday.
Wherever possible, Italy on Motorbike will choose high-rated hotels with top facilities and excellent food in historic and scenic settings, often in exquisitely beautiful villages offering inviting backdrops for a romantic dinner or evening walk.
Milan to Rome is only three hours away with the high-speed train, six and a half hours on the motorway (depending on the traffic), or a week of fun and wonder on a motorbike, riding through a string of bewitching land, mountains, sea, and windy hills.
This trip begins with the discovery of the elegant Liguria and its magnificent bays, followed by zigzagging through the legendary Tuscany, then a touch of Umbria to discover Orvieto, and finally the poetry of Lazio through to Rome. And like any trip in Italy, it will also be a journey back in time, from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, amid fishers’ and medieval villages, regional cultures and cuisines with ancient flavours and timeless fragrances, immersed in picture perfect landscapes.
A real concentrate of Italian beauties, from the Cinque Terre National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) to the main jewels of Tuscany from Florence to Siena, and the Etruscan civilisation in Latium will surprise you! Intended as a real pleasure tour for real moto-tourists, this tour is Italy on Motorbike's technically easiest and physically lightest proposal, that will grant you lots of treats and unforgettable moments.
Special highlight is given to gastronomy - that has actually an honorable place in all of their tours - with the opportunity to dine on your own three times and discover by yourself the most authentic flavors of Ligurian, Tuscan, and Latium cuisine, in an often extremely evocative and romantic setting.
You will meet in the afternoon in your hotel in Milan and go together to pick up the rental bikes, if there are any. You will then all meet up before dinner for a typical Italian aperitif, where you will have a short but important briefing, to share a few simple rules for a good synchronisation between the participants, thus ensuring a safe holiday that is unforgettable for all the right reasons.
You will start your journey westbound, straight towards the Mediterranean Sea. However it will not be straight, as you will start turning, going up and down, with an exciting ride through the Apennines, to arrive at the famous Ligurian Riviera, where you will arrive in Portofino, favorite stronghold of the international jet set since the 60s. From there, you will carry on your journey along the magnificent coastal roads of the occidental Riviera to reach your hotel found at the edge of the park of the Cinque Terre.
A wonderful day awaits. You will start by exploring the superb park of the Cinque Terre (UNESCO World Heritage Site) with Portovenere, from there, enjoy a beautiful ride in the Apuan Alps to go down into one of the most beautiful towns of Tuscany, Lucca, classified on the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Today will be an itinerary made for the pleasure of riding on beautiful motorcycle roads running through amazing landscape. Lunch will be en route in a typical trattoria, while you will be free to explore the beautiful old town of Lucca, where good restaurants, for an exquisite and romantic meal, are everywhere.

You carry on your way on beautiful winding roads for one of the most sumptuous, romantic, and fascinating Italian cities, Florence (Firenze, UNESCO World Heritage Site), where you will have the afternoon free for visiting.
Another beautiful day amid hills with their superb vineyards and medieval burgs, symbols of Tuscany awaits you today. It is the famous Chianti Valley that you will ride through first, having fun on your steeds like on a roller coaster between the vineyards. You will then jump back in time, in the middle ages, in the charming little towns of San Gimignano, the town of 100 towers listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its totally unique and enchanting aspect, and Volterra, which was an important Roman town in its days and the Etruscan capital before that. Finally, you cross the verdant Val d’Elsa to reach another Tuscan jewel, Siena (UNESCO World Heritage Site), where you absolutely have to go and see the famous Palio square and most of all the magnificent cathedral.
You continue your discovery of Tuscany on the gentle legendary hills of the Valley of Orcia, whose beauty has earned it the classification as UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will make a stop in Pienza, masterpiece of the Renaissance (UNESCO World Heritage Site), followed by another enchanting village, the wine capital Montepulciano, where you will have a wine tasting in a historical winery. You will then leave the Val d’Orcia on a beautiful road across hills and woodlands which will take you through to a road dug in the rock by the Etruscans. Then, you will head onto a small, marvellous village built on top of a cliff, before reaching Orvieto, pearl of Umbria, where you will spend the night. A change of clothes and straight for the unmissable and extraordinary experience of underground Orvieto visit. For dinner, the best places are around the cathedral.
A spectacular dying town in a lunar landscape, a beautiful lake and the superb medieval district of San Pellegrino will be on your itinerary today in Latium heading to Rome, where you return the rental motorcycles in late afternoon, if any. What is a better way to end your adventure but with a lavish farewell dinner in a typical Roman trattoria?
Unlike most of the other European capitals, Rome has its own cuisine, made of popular dishes and simple, but rich in taste and personality and very much loved by all Italians. It is also the worthiest conclusion of the gastronomic journey that you will have experienced in the tour, in parallel with the one on two wheels.

The cradle of the Italian Renaissance, Tuscany has a unique and spectacular appeal. It has an extraordinary artistic heritage: villas that belonged to the Medici family, perfectly preserved medieval burgs (like San Gimignano, Volterra, Montalcino, and many others) and villages defying all the rules of gravity, like Pitigliano, and important remains of bygone ages, specifically the Etruscan and Roman civilizations.
All in all, it has a wealth of history and picture-perfect landscapes unrivaled anywhere in the world. It almost seems like time has stood still in the many medieval villages that, like antique jewels, still give this region the atmosphere and artistic beauty of a bygone era. Each palace, cathedral, or church bears the mark of the extraordinary talents of a great artist of the Middle Ages or the Renaissance!
The richness of the artistic heritage gathered in the most important cities, primarily Florence (not forgetting Siena, Pisa, Lucca, and many more), but also scattered all over the territory, makes Tuscany an undisputed highlight of the worldwide travel scene. And when it comes to the landscape and the natural environment - whether it is the Siena Crests, the Val d’Orcia, the Garfagnana area, the Chianti Hills or the Maremma - beauty is everywhere.
Nature here has many facets, from the elegant Tuscan coastline to the unparalleled spectacle of the Apuan Alps, but the most evocative landscapes of the region are, in Italy on Motorbike's opinion, the ones that harmoniously blend the beauty of nature, in the background, with the works of man: a medieval rampart, a small country church, or an impressive monastery.
Italy on Motorbike's tour in this beautiful area will necessarily contain a selection of outstanding and charming destinations, almost reluctantly hand-picked from the panoply of many other beautiful sites. Like each of their tours, the route is not only designed by culture, but also by how much fun you will have on two wheels (bends, the roads themselves, landscapes) - because do not forget that motorbike holidays are what this is all about!
But for this one, Italy on Motorbike has put particular emphasis on the discovery, with many visits on foot, and the dolce vita, dedicating special attention to food and wine, with various opportunities to follow your nose and treat yourself to Tuscany’s excellent culinary repertoire. Another special feature is the accommodation provided in hotels of great charms and character, typical of this region.
You will enjoy seven buffet breakfasts, four dinners, and three lunches during this tour. A typical Italian welcome aperitif will also be included. Breakfast will be served at well-rated, classy, and charming hotels, while lunch will be served at typical restaurants selected for its remarkable traditional cuisine. Furthermore, dinner will be served at hotels or external restaurants within walking distance.
