Step away from the rush of busy daily life and rest in the silence of Spanish nature! Spend your days in silence and nature. Start your days with yoga, followed by guided and silent meditations and Buddhist teachings. Sleep and meditate in a traditional Mongolian yurt in a green valley away from the rush of daily life. Reflect, rest and recharge, connecting deeply to yourself.
You will have a comfortable bed in a traditional Mongolian yurt which you will share with your fellow retreat participants. In summer, the roof is open and the yurt is cooled by a fan. In winter, they place a wood stove to make the yurt warm and comfortable.
The retreat starts at 2 p.m. on the first day (pick ups are arranged at 1 p.m. from the train station in Xativa).
You will have lunch together and get to know each other, there will be some explanation about the retreat and there is time to land. Around 4 p.m., the silence starts with the first meditation.
You start the days at 8 a.m. waking up the body with a nice yoga class followed by a delicious healthy breakfast.
In the morning, there will be a guided meditation on themes such as breath and body, the five sense gates, the four elements, feelings and thoughts, and Metta (loving-kindness).
In the afternoon, Ellen will give a talk offering inspiration and understanding. The rest of the day, you meditate in silence in one of the four postures of sitting, walking, standing, and reclining both indoor in the meditation yurt and outdoor in nature.
On the third day, you will make a yatra, a silent walk in nature. Walking in silence will help to deeply connect with nature within and nature without.
The rhythm of walking calms body and mind. One evening, you will have a meditative dance and on the last evening, you will wake up your voices with a singing circle and a sharing.
On the last evening, you will break the silence with a sharing circle. After breakfast on the final date the retreat ends.
Ellen has been practicing in the Buddhist tradition for over 20 years and sat many silent Vipassana retreats. 6 years ago, she completed the teacher training to share the MBSR training developed by Jon Kabat Zinn. Sharing this training gave her a deeper understanding of the working of the mind and the challenges that lie in this high speed, goal-orientated society. It also deepened her love for silence, nature, and the wisdom of the Buddha’s teachings. Over the years, she has shared this love in silent meditation retreats, silent walks, and spiritual journeys to India.
The retreat will take place on the land of Kausay community, tucked away in a quiet, green valley an hour south of Valencia.
Kausay is an eco project where people work and live close to nature. Kausay would love to share the the experience of living in nature with you!
You will sleep in a traditional Mongolian yurt which you will share with others.
Kausay offers delicious freshly cooked vegetarian or vegan meals using veggies from their own ecological garden.
