He will also inspect your equipment to make sure you have all the requirements to make your tour super one and will help you rent the ones you miss. Then you will be transferred to the hotel in Moshi for overnight.

Day 2: From Moshi - Marangu Gate- Kilema Gate - Horombo Hut

The journey starts by picking you up from the hotel where a drive towards the Marangu Gate begins. On the way, you can enjoy the amazing views of this beautiful mountain. You will meet your team of guides and porters at the gate. In the forest, you will perhaps see bright-colored birds, colobus monkeys lichens and flowers and orchids.

The registration process will take place at Marangu Gate then drive to Kilema Gate. You will then enter the Kilimanjaro National Park, where a ride towards the Horombo Hut will begin. The route is characterized by forest vegetation and moorland. The distance is 19 kilometers. This is a full day of cycling by bike. You will have dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.

  • Distance: 19 kilometers / 11.8 miles

Day 3: Horombo Fully Day Acclimatization

The day is 90% cycling by bike. After breakfast, you will start your ride through the Alpine desert. You will encounter a small stone area up to Mawenzi Hut. After that, you will return to Horombo Hut. The bike cycling distance is 10 kilometers. The vegetation is an alpine desert. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included, and overnight at Horombo Hut.

  • Distance: 10 kilometers / 6.2 miles

Day 4: Horombo Hut - Kibo Hut (4703 meters / 15,430 feet) - Horombo Hut

After an early breakfast, you will start your ascent into the Alpine desert habitat. The first 3 kilometers of the trail are very rocky and cycling will be very difficult as this section is very stony and eroded. After about 3 kilometers, the trail improves and "cycling" will once again be possible. The “Saddle” (which refers to the area located between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo) is relatively flat and bike cycling is much easier. However high altitudes, low oxygen levels, and cold conditions make the 7-kilometer section towards Kibo hut strenuous and challenging.

The final kilometers before reaching Kibo hut is especially strenuous. You will once again be reminded to slow down and drink enough water. Upon arrival at Kibo hut, lunch will be served. After lunch, you will embark on an awesome Kilimanjaro downhill, descending nearly 800 meters over 7 kilometers. The final 3 kilometers descent down to Horombo hut is very technical and challenging. Dinner and overnight at Horombo hut.

  • Distance: 23 kilometers / 14.2 miles

Day 5: Horombo Hut - Kibo Hut

After breakfast, you will head up to Kibo hut which is a stone-built block house located in the barren Alpine Desert. It has bunk beds for 60 climbers, but no streams of water around. The first 3 kilometers would require you to push and carry your bike. But the final 7 kilometers to Kibo Hut offers a good biking trail. You will have a delicious lunch and rest for a while. In case your feeling better, you can have a partial hike up the summit at around 16:00 hours. This will help you acclimatize to the night summit later. Descent the same night and have a rest and prepare for your night summit.

  • Distance: 10 kilometers / 6.2 miles

Day 6: Kibo Hut - Summit/Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters / 19,341 feet) - Horombo Hut (3,720 meters / 12,205 feet)

The guides will wake you soon after midnight at around 4:00 am to start a zigzag trek. At 4:00 am, up a long scree slope. After approximately two hours, you should reach Hans Meyer’s Cave where the gradient gets steeper. You will arrive at Gilman’s Point after approximately another three hours of climbing. At this point, you can start biking where you will take your bike from Porters and start riding to Uhuru Peak.

At Uhuru Peak, you will spend a few minutes taking photos, and then riding down to Stella Point where you will have lunch there. After lunch, you will ride down to Horombo hut. From Kibo to Uhuru and back to Kibo biking is rare and so you handle your bike to porters. From Kibo to Horombo is 100% biking. The area is characterized by Alpine desert vegetation /Icecap.

Day 7: Horombo Hut - Kilema Gate - Moshi/Arusha

You will have a tantalizing breakfast in the morning at the Horombo Hut and begin riding down towards the Kilema Gate, where you will be transferred to Marangu Gate. On the way, you will encounter the varying scenery consisting of Alpine and rainforest. At the Marangu Gate, you will receive your certificate for reaching the highest peak of Africa. Then the journey back to your hotel will be arranged.

Departure and transfer to the Kilimanjaro Airport.
