During the seven-day Kilimanjaro trek tour, you'll be accommodated in comfortable mountain huts along the Marangu route. These huts feature cozy bunk beds, clean bedding, and communal dining areas for hearty meals. You'll also enjoy breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s varied landscapes, offering a mix of comfort and an authentic mountain experience.

Throughout the trek, you'll spend two nights in a hotel (single rooms) in Moshi and four nights in different huts (dorms) as outlined in the itinerary. Enjoy cozy, well-equipped huts each night along the route.

Keys Hotel

Located in Moshi, 26 miles from Mount Kilimanjaro, Keys Hotel provides accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden, and a shared lounge with a bar. The property also has room service, a 24-hour front desk, and currency exchange for guests.

The three-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi, each with a private bathroom. Each room is also equipped with a desk, bed linen, and towels.

7 days' Kilimanjaro trek tour via Marangu Route itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Welcome to Moshi, the starting point of your exhilarating seven-day Marangu Route trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be warmly received and transferred to your cozy lodge in Moshi. Take this day to rest, adjust to the altitude, and get ready for the epic journey that lies ahead.

Day 2: Moshi to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

This day marks the beginning of your Marangu Route trek. After a hearty breakfast, your expert guide will meet you at your lodge for a pre-trek briefing.

From Moshi, you'll be driven to the Marangu Gate (1,860m), the starting point of the renowned Marangu Route, where your Kilimanjaro journey will truly commence. As you traverse through the lush rainforests teeming with biodiversity, keep an eye out for the unique flora and fauna that call that area home.

Your destination for the day is Mandara Hut (2,700m), a comfortable resting spot surrounded by the natural beauty that the Marangu Route trek has to offer.

Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Rise and shine amidst the refreshing mountain air, ready to continue your trek. This day's leg will take you further along the Marangu Route, showcasing the enchanting heather and moorland terrains and providing you with remarkable views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

After a challenging but rewarding trek of around six to seven hours, you'll reach Kibo Hut (4,703m), where you'll rest and prepare for the final push towards Uhuru Peak.

Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

In the early hours, under the shimmering stars, begin your ascent towards Gilman's Point (5,685m), where you'll witness a breathtaking sunrise. Push your limits as you navigate through steep slopes and snow, eventually reaching the iconic Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and enjoying the astounding 360-degree views.

Descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing to Horombo Hut, where you'll spend the night.

Descend to Marangu Gate. Complete formalities and receive summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi for departure while reflecting back on your seven-day Marangu Route trek you had on the mountain.

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Transfers from and to this airport are included in the price.

To reach Moshi, you can fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), which is the closest airport to the town. From the airport, Moshi is about a 45-minute drive. You can arrange for a transfer through your tour operator, or take a taxi directly to your hotel.

Arrival from Arusha

If you're traveling from Arusha, Moshi is approximately a two-hour drive, and you can reach it via shuttle services, private transfers, or by hiring a taxi. Public buses are also available, though less comfortable. Clear signs and well-maintained roads make the journey straightforward and accessible.
