Program

Leg 1: London to Bordeaux (distance: 975 kilometres, duration: 10 days)

Arrival in London is the day before the departure date for a brief of the journey, kit check, questions and most important; pre-journey photos, and a tough introductory three-day ride for the first section. Leaving London as expected will be slow going until you get to Redhill. From here, you make great use of the quieter countryside and national cycle pathways. You can have a late afternoon ferry ride into Dieppe for a well-earned rest.

You will have a relatively simple second day, distance wise, as you head towards Beauvais and your first taste of continental Europe riding. A great day to get accustomed to riding on the right and segregated cycle. As with the start of the journey when leaving London, finishing in Paris is tough going, however, you

can’t ride through France without passing by the iconic Champs de Elysees and Eiffel Tower. One of the guides will help navigate through this maze to your hotel for the next two nights.

The rest day is a chance to amend any kit mishaps, recover from the first three days or explore the amazing capital city. A nicely weighted second section after your rest day is where you make full use of your rested bodies, with a challenging first day out of Paris. There is a very little climbing throughout the leg, just some lovely undulating countryside with some segregated cycle trail to make use of and quiet countryside roads.

Again, the guide will be there to help navigate out of Paris at the start of the second section as you continue to meander south. Each lunch break and the final stop for the day are in picturesque French towns and small cities. There are pit stops to pick up fresh baguettes out of small stone built bakeries, washed

down with a glass of local wine. It’s easy to see why the French enjoy their riding so much. This relatively easy riding between beautiful historic landmarks makes this a great opportunity for your body to adapt to multiple days in the saddle.

  • Day 1: London to Newhaven 120 kilometres
  • Day 2: Dieppe to Beauvais 120 kilometres
  • Day 3: Beauvais to Paris 130 kilometres
  • Day 4: Rest day in Paris
  • Day 5: Paris to Orleans 125 kilometres
  • Day 6: Orleans to Tours 125 kilometres
  • Day 7: Tours to Poitiers 115 kilometres
  • Day 8: Poitiers to Angouleme 120 kilometres
  • Day 9: Angouleme to Bordeaux 135 kilometres
  • Day 10: Rest day in Bordeaux

Leg 2: Bordeaux to Santiago

From Bordeaux we follow the coast towards the Spanish border where we are greeted by the beautiful Pyrenees. To ensure you are fully rested for these tough climbs, every night on the Journey is in hotel accommodation. We want you to cycle hard during the day and rest well in the evenings.

Passing up and over the Pyrenees is no easy feat, but the awe inspiring views are well worth the effort. As we leave Pamplona and head towards Alto del Perdon the full extent of this pilgrim movement hits you. Buen Camino being encouraged by those you encounter, endless 360 degree panoramic views, and mouth watering tapas - it's no surprise why Spain is a Mammoth favourite.

Location

On this quest, you will journey across four countries, starting from England to France, Spain, and on to Morocco.
