Spend a weekend in this amazing bed and breakfast hotel and enjoy the magnificent surroundings of a turn-of-the-century Georgian mansion on six and a half acres of terraced lawns. This will be a popular weekend, so be sure to make your reservation now!
Mercersburg Inn is located just a morning's drive from Washington DC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh. The decorative tile, oak flooring, double-curving wrought-iron balustrades, scagliola columns, and the mahogany and chestnut paneling are all original to the house. The 17 rooms in the main house and carriage house include 4 different types of rooms ranging from standard to extravagant. Byron's Dining Room is the Mercersburg Inn's fine dining restaurant. Seating is from 17:30 to 20:30 Thursday thru Saturday and from 17:00 to 20:00 on Sunday.
A few steps from the main house is the Carriage House, built in 1909. The newly renovated upper floor contains two rooms with individually controlled heating and air-conditioning and private baths with Jacuzzi tubs. Although the construction is new, the furnishings are of a period matching those in the main house. Here, you will find the same luxurious feather-beds, down quilts, and plush pillows guests have come to expect from the Mercersburg Inn.
There is a late afternoon wine tasting and educational session with John Peters. Then, he will join your chef, Dan Nowalk, a charter member of the Pennsylvania Culinary Society, to delight you with a 5-course dinner with wine pairings. There will be 2 upcoming food and wine weekends:
If you have been here for any of the country/regional wine weekends, the wines and dinner menu will not be the same.
In the morning, Jim and Lisa will delight you with recipes that have been a favorite at the inn for many years. Whether it's sweet strawberry pancakes, a hearty goat cheese torte, or a fresh new creation, you'll start the day very satisfied.
The five-course dinner will be prepared by Chef Dan Nowalk and the wine pairing by John Peters. You will enjoy delicious foods from Chile and Argentina.
