Enjoy cycling and kayaking and discover the cultural sights and gastronomy of the most beautiful Croatian region - the dalmatian coast and islands.
During the tour, you will stay in classic three- and four-star hotels, premier four-star hotels, or exclusive four- or five-star hotels.
Spend two evenings in Split and walk along the streets of the once great and important Roman site, dating back to 300 A.C. Besides Diocletian’s palace, you will visit and bike along another UNESCO World Heritage site; Stari Grad Plain on the Island Hvar. Cycle along lavender fields to reach the famous and “trendy” town of Hvar. Ride along Korčula Island and discover its natural beauties, monasteries, gastronomy, old fisherman villages, and ancient stone architecture.
Your guides will take you for a kayak tour along the Marjan peninsula in Split as well as a small group of Islands located in front of Island Hvar called Pakleni Islands. Another sea kayaking tour will take place around the Korčula archipelago. Continue exploring and cycling along the peninsula Pelješac, before you reach your final destination; Dubrovnik - the pearl of Adriatic. The tour starts in Split, Croatia between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. and ends in Dubrovnik, Croatia after breakfast. The time can be adjusted.
Upon your arrival in Split, you will meet your representative and get familiar with the area; most important sites and dining areas, get your bike fitted, and get an explanation of all the bike routes and options. The most important site of Split is Diocletian’s Palace, now recognized on UNESCO’s World Heritage list.
The locals have their real homes molded in the old walls of the Palace and inside it, you will find numerous cafes and restaurants serving fresh Mediterranean food. In front of the palace, you might enjoy an evening walk along its beautiful waterfront promenade. Depending on your arrival, you can enjoy an easy, car-free 17-kilometer bike ride or go for a 40-kilometer inland loop.
Today, you are going for a four-hour scenic sea-kayak adventure around a Marjan peninsula. This is a perfect paddling experience for all beginners, as you keep close to the shore. After an introduction to paddling techniques and safety, you will start on your way around the peninsula.
As the scenery changes from secluded bays in shaded pine forests to pebble beaches, you will stop for a dip in one of the bays - a perfect location for snorkeling as well. Explore the “wild side” of Split from the sea level perspective, just minutes away from the busy city center. Do not forget to pack your swimming gear as we stop for a swim and snorkeling in one of Marjan’s secluded coves.
Welcome to Island Hvar. For the morning ride, Meridienten Vulic suggests an easy ride around the UNESCO site of Stari Grad. Stari Grad (Old Town) is an ancient Greek colony dating back to 400 B.C. Besides historical sites you will discover quite charming towns and roads where you will be cycling, passing next to private gardens, along the coast, and olive groves.
For the afternoon bike ride, take the famous and probably most beautiful road along the lavender fields to reach the town of Hvar. Once in Hvar town, enjoy a well-deserved coffee or aperitif at one of the most beautiful Venetian-style piazzas in the Mediterranean and watch the world go by.
After leisure breakfast, you set off to the group of small islands called Pakleni Islands. The origin of the name goes back to the old days when the islands were the main source of rosin for local shipbuilders. Today, just like then, the islands are covered with thick pine woods providing refreshing shade even during the hottest summer days. The route through narrow straits and along the islands reveals small hidden pebble beaches where you can enjoy the privilege of having, at least temporarily, a beach of your own, where you can swim, snorkel, and relax. Returning to Hvar around 2:00 p.m. Overnight is at Hvar town.
After the private boat transfer, start with your bike ride on Island Korčula, about 46 kilometers from the town of Korčula. The island was very early populated; even before Greek times! During its history, it was chosen by Venetians as a spot to build their important walled city on the northern shores of the island. Therefore, nowadays, thanks to that, they have the most magnificent walled Korčula Old Town still preserved and almost intact for centuries where you spend the next two nights. Enjoy the scenic south side of the island, with amazing views of beautiful hidden beaches and coves, ride along the small villages and hamlets, and stop in some of the few great local Konoba (taverns) for the most amazing locally prepared food.
As you stay for another day in Korčula take a chance to explore the island of Korčula from the sea; its hidden coves, and beautiful coastal villages surrounded by dark pine forests that cover the island. A guided sea kayaking tour takes you along islets scattered between Korčula, Lumbarda, and Orebić. Besides the monastery on Badija and the stone quarries of Vrhnik, you will enjoy the crystalline waters and the tranquility of Korčula’s archipelago. As for the cycling, there are few loop options today.
Whatever you choose, you will be making your way past vineyards, olive groves, and along the beautiful coast of the island. Taste the traditional food; like homemade gnocchi, homemade macaroni, pašticada, and other meals which have been traditionally prepared by the locals for centuries. Some of the best Croatian white wines are produced on this island, which will just add flavor to your lunch or dinner. Did they mention Marco Polo lived here, and has started his life journey from Korčula?
Today, for your final ride, you will be cruising along the Pelješac peninsula. You will be riding along the vineyards of Dingač and Postup, made from the Plavac Mali vines, a close cousin to Zinfandel of California, and Primitivo from Calabria. There are many wineries which can be visited along the ride. Enjoy the great views Pelješac is offering you, Mljet and Korčula Island on your right and the mainland on your left. The ride today has a couple of hills, coastal rides, and vineyards.
Your final bike destination is Ston, from where you will be transferred to Dubrovnik. Ston, a salt-producing village on the Pelješac peninsula was built in the 14th-century town and has the longest city walls in Europe - five and a half kilometers. Ston was an important town for the Dubrovnik Republic, which was the strongest and most prosperous in the 14th century which you are about to see.
Today after breakfast, the tour ends. You might want to extend your stay in Dubrovnik and explore the historical sites along with the magnificent wall that surrounds the old town.
