Live online MBSR Course in the comfort of your own home

This January and February, Mindful Academy International offers you the chance to take the gold standard Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course in the comfort of your own home.

Created by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD over 40-years ago at the University of Massachusetts Center for Mindfulness, this online course will guide you through 8 live interactive sessions held weekly. It also includes an optional silent retreat day (6 hours) and email support.

By choosing to take the course you become an active participant in your own health and wellbeing, in the process learning how to be kind to yourself, find balance, respond rather than react to stress or anxiety, and build resilience.

Course information

The 8-week MBSR course is based on the original work of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s highly acclaimed Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program and the current programs taught at the Massachusetts Medical Centre, Bangor University Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP) in the UK and around the world.

Each week you will take part in a group 2.5 hour session via Zoom with Kathy Ward, Senior International Mindfulness Trainer, Teacher, and Supervisor. Kathy also works as a Mindfulness Consultant for the WHO.

We will guide and support you through the learning of the mindfulness course. Practice mp3's and our extensive Participants workbook will be emailed to you. Like most things in life, you get out what you put in and home practice forms a large part of the course and you will need to commit yourself to spend up to one hour 6 out of 7 days a week for the duration of the course.

This includes:

  • Listening and practicing using the supplied mp3 recordings (recommended practice 30 to 45-minutes per day, 6 out of 7 days per week)
  • Reading the Participants Workbook
  • Reflecting and optional journaling of your direct experience
  • Including some informal mindfulness practices in your daily life to make them come alive and support resilience, health, and wellbeing

Please note there is little opportunity or time in either the group or 1-1 option to discuss any current or past personal problems not related to the session or home practices. If necessary these should be pursued through individual work with a counselor or other appropriate support.

Timing of sessions / daily schedule (UK/GMT)

There are two schedules for this course, starting in January.

Starting January the 11th, 2022:

8 weekly sessions from Tuesday, 11th of January - Tuesday 1st of March at 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. UK/GMT. The course also includes an optional 6-hour Silent Retreat day on Sunday, 26th of February, 2022 (other dates available).

Starting January the 6th, 2022:

8 weekly sessions from Thursday, January the 6th - Thursday, 24th of February at 6.30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. UK/GMT. The course also includes an optional 6-hour Silent Retreat day on Sunday, 26th of February (other dates available).

This 8-week MBSR course is held online with Senior International Mindfulness Trainer, Supervisor and Teacher Kathy Ward. The live-stream interactive sessions use the Zoom Video platform. Times are based on (GMT).
