Accommodation

Alina lives in a romantic house in Tanzania surrounded by a garden that feels like paradise, full of fruit trees, flowers, a bamboo forest, and huge, pristine mango trees. This house seems straight out of a tropical fairytale. It is warmly decorated and has one guestroom for one or two guests.

Behind her house, Alina has created, on a higher position, a Sahara tent on a wooden platform. It is a magical place with a lovely veranda. The tent functions as a bedroom, but mostly you will live outside on the veranda. Sitting comfortably in the shade of an old mango tree, you can withdraw if you need to be alone, read a book, listen to music, and do other things to chill.

There is a vibe of birdlife in the garden; wagtails, sunbirds, pigeons, ibises, kingfishers, and bee-eaters. You find lizards full of color. A couple of small eagles are flying on and off or circling in the sky. And last but not least vervet monkeys are jumping from tree to tree to steal her guave fruit and avocados.

The garden is the home of eight rescued, lovely dogs and one cat makes the household complete. They have no admission to the tent or veranda's, so you will have your rest. But I guess you need to like plants, trees and animals.

Facilities glamping in Tanzania

The detached house is a white bungalow with a nice veranda, a common living, a kitchen, and a bathroom, Besides that, there is the office of Mindful Adventure and two bedrooms. It is suitable for one couple max, but it’s very possible to stay when you are on your own. There is Wi-Fi, and a sound system, but no television. You can use the water filter and washing machine. The house is close to the center (10-15 minutes) and Lake Victoria.

Alina has help of Leonarda, who takes care of shopping, cleaning, cooking and the garden five days a week. Leonarda will also take care of you and your meals during the solo-retreat.

A different view on your “problems”

Come discover in Tanzania how you can come to a completely different view and perception of your “problems.” That different perception comes once you begin to see that your personality is like a veil around your happy self. Even though the whole world shouts, “Look you are free, you are happiness, you are loving, complete and beautiful. You don’t see that lasting happiness inside as long as you are with all your attention to your thoughts, feelings, desires, ambitions, resistances and so on.

During an intensive in Tanzania, you make space for daily quality time to take a journey within. This allows you to gain clarity on what is holding you back, feel what to feel about it, cleanse the roots of it and take inspired steps to take a new path.

You make this journey with love and respect for all that presents itself. All is welcome along the way to the goal of fully experiencing the great adventure that is life and that you are.

Allowing

You can only let go of what gets in your way if you first allow it. They very much believe that it has a lot to offer you if you are offered a structured form of self-examination, allow feelings, work toward a deeper understanding of your brain and develop independence in it. Then you can always fall back on it when life presents you with small or big challenges.

The method they offer you as a coach, therapist, mindfulness and meditation teacher is life-changing and guaranteed to lead to more control over your own mind/personality, your life’s happiness and more clarity.

You are welcome for this Mindfulness solo retreat intensive at the romantic home in Mwanza, Tanzania. The house is located right on Lake Victoria.

Day schedule

  • 07:30 Body exercises (bio-energetics, yoga)
  • 08:00 Breakfast and shower
  • 09:00 - 12:30 Coaching program and meditations
  • 12:30 - 16:00 Free
  • 16:30 - 18:30 Individual sessions (2-3 per week) or time for independent practice of the instructions from the morning program
  • The evenings are free

What you may expect

Stay in a cozy house or sahara tent with lovely porch and a large, beautiful garden full of flowers, fruit trees and herbs. The garden vibrates with bird life; wagtails, sunbirds, pigeons, ibises, bee-eaters. You will also find colorful lizards and monkeys playing in ancient mango trees.

What not to expect

  • Complete silence. There is peace and quiet most of the time but on Sundays the church community sings and sometimes you can hear rhythmic music on the weekends
  • An animal-free residence (there are dogs and cats)

Location

Mindful Adventure offers the chance of glamping in Tanzania, amidst a very different culture. You are very welcome in my house in Mwanza Rock City at Lake Victoria. The house is located in a mostly quiet and safe area. You can stay in a luxury Sahara tent with a wooden veranda. It has a great view and much privacy. You can also choose a private room inside the house.

There is much to do in and around Mwanza. It is a spacious city, beautifully located at Lake Victoria with many small and larger islands off the coast. Mwanza is the gateway to the Serengeti (2 hours) and only a four-hour drive to the rugged bird and crocodile island of Rubondo. There are also day trips such as a boat trip, hopping from island to island, walks, a Sukuma museum,

Mwanza has a great market in the centre and several areas where you can enjoy a nice and safe walk. There are outdoor clubs with live music. You can also enjoy delicious (Indian) food in restaurants. You can find a lodge with various activities such as horse riding and a wellness corner. 20 minutes from the house is a large swimming pool at the International school. Public transport consists of vans, motorbikes, bajajis (tricycles) and taxis and is cheap.

Food

The meals and the house are being taken care of by Leonarda. You will have your breakfast and dinner together. Sharing lunch depends on your activities during the afternoon break.

  • or a group safari with the use of safari sharing (depends on the season and availability of groups going)
