Your guide and his wife will welcome you at the airport in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. Depending on your arrival time, you can do some sightseeing or go straight to the hotel. As your bikes will be waiting for you at the hotel parking lot, they presume you won’t resist taking a test ride, so they’ll organize a nice short first ride, just to get friendly with the bikes. In the evening, you will enjoy the traditional welcome dinner and you can discuss the routes, bikes, etc.
Day 2: Zagreb, Croatia - Kopar, Slovakia (160 miles / 250 kilometers)
You will first head northwest just to make you feel the spirit of Zagreb and Northern Croatia since you will not have other opportunities to visit it, as you will later head south, to warmer regions. You will be passing through picturesque continental areas, stopping for a coffee, taking photos, and creating first impressions; all with the aim of reaching Istria on your first day in good spirits. Kopar in Slovenia is your final destination for the day, with dinner and sightseeing in the city.
