Day 1: Hanoi - Vu Linh (180 kilometers / 112 miles - 5 hours ride)
Leaving Hanoi and breaking out of the delta plains, you will pass through endless limestone karst scenery and extensive farming lands comprising a sea of paddy fields split by tree-lined roads. You will have lunch in Viet Tri-Town. You will arrive in Vu Linh in the late afternoon and there, you will stay overnight with friends of the Dao minority in a traditional stilt house. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Day 2: Vu Linh - Ba Be National Park (200 kilometers / 124 miles - 7 hours ride)
You will have two options. One will take you around the very end of the Song Gam mountain range, enjoying good riding on winding sealed mountain roads. The other will cross you over the very end of the range and will take you through the untarnished rainforest on a challenging, rocky road. The Song Gam mountain range is the main range of Northeast Vietnam.
From Tuyen Quang, you will continue on a sealed road through renowned tea-growing areas where the hillsides are literally covered in plantations. From there, it will be a short ride to the edge of Ba Be Lake. The overnight accommodations will be in a homestay in the Tay family. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.
Day 3: Ba Be Lake - Bac Kan (70 kilometers / 43 miles)
After breakfast, you will have 20 minutes to ride up north and visit a very nice local market. You will return to the village and from there, you will have a two-hour boat trip to visit Ba Be Lake. After lunch, you will ride to Bac Kan for two hours. You will arrive in the late afternoon. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided and you will stay overnight at a hotel.
Day 4: Bac Kan - Hanoi (200 kilometers / 124 miles)
Enjoy breakfast. You will leave Bac Kan and head south to go back to Hanoi. You will take the small paved road to avoid the busy traffic. You will have lunch en route and arrive in Hanoi in the afternoon. Thus, the tour will end. Today, the meals include breakfast and lunch.
