Program

Yoga and meditation

Yoga is the way of life that integrates the body, mind, and spirit. Yoga alleviates mental stress and encourages relaxation and inner peace. Furthermore, yoga can also be therapeutic - both as a remedy and as a prophylactic.

In the Ayurvedic teachings, yoga and meditation are an essential part of any program of treatment to establish a balance between the Doshas. In all but a few cases, yoga and meditation practice are integral parts of the daily schedule.

The four main paths of yoga

  • Karma yoga: The yoga of action, the path of selfless service
  • Bhakti yoga: The yoga of devotion
  • Raja yoga: The yoga of mind control, the systematic approach
  • Jnana yoga: The yoga of knowledge, the philosophical approach

Ashtanga yoga

Raja yoga is the path of systematic analysis and control of the mind. Compiled by Patanjali Maharshi, Raja yoga is also known as ‘Ashtanga yoga’, because its practices can be divided into eight limbs (Ashtanga = eight limbs).

The eight limbs are

  • Yama
  • Prathyahara
  • Niyama
  • Dharana
  • Yogasana
  • Dhyana
  • Pranayama
  • Samadhi

Yogasanas

Yogasanas are various body postures which are practiced to calm the mind enabling a deep state of meditation to occur. It involves various poses such as standing poses, sitting poses, and lying poses. During their performance, you will stretch and relax your structure fully. This frees nerves from stress and strain and improves their functioning.

Pranayama

Pranayama - knowledge, and control of prana (vital energy) is called pranayama. Controlling the mind is not possible without controlling the prana as the two are intimately connected. Through pranayama, the body becomes strong and healthy, and the mind becomes one-pointed. The mind is prepared for Dharana (control of senses) and dhyana (meditation).

Dhyana (meditation)

Dhyana (meditation) is a state of higher consciousness achieved through a fully rested and relaxed body and a fully awake and relaxed mind. In meditation, there is constant observation of mind. Meditation is an experience that cannot be described just as colors cannot be described to a blind person.

Vazhachal Waterfall

The Vazhachal Waterfall is a scenic and popular waterfall on the edge of the Sholayar forest range in Kerala. The Vazhachal is part of the Chalakkudy River. Its cool, misty waters cascading down with the backdrop of thick green forest and rocky terrain are a scintillating experience for visitors.

Kouthuka Park

Kouthuka Park, the park of intrigue, is the crusade of one man Mr. Varkey Veliyath, who intuitively seems to sense the innate harmony in nature. The peaceful co-existence of many, some of which are sworn predators in nature are like obedient children here, following their Master around, living and feeding, on what is so lovingly provided.

The very plot of land, that is the park, resembles not the plain land around it rather, it makes one feel as though he or she has entered the remote habitat of the nature’s very best, with small rivulets and caves, ancient ponds with crystal clear water, within which fish of various hues and sizes play hide and seek in its dark depths.

This is a place where you will rediscover your inner peace, marvel at human persistence, and acknowledges the simple gifts of nature, that of birds, fish, animals, and man being one, with nature.

Poringalkuthu Hydel tourism

Poringalkuthu Hydel Tourism has much in store for the visitors. One can enjoy a nice view of the dam and the adjoining areas apart from the other amenities facilitated there.

While enjoying the exciting thrill of the speed boat, the serene voyage in the drifting coffee shop, or the self-driven pedal boats, you can relish the view of the green environs of this magnificent reservoir and if lucky, can spot wild animals venturing out for quenching their thirst.

Malakkappara tea estate

Malakkappara is an unexplored tourist destination, being a border place belonging to the Thrissur district of Kerala in India. This is a lesser developed area in Kerala. It consists of the tea estate owned by Tata Tea.

Many endangered and endemic species of flora and fauna are found in the forests of the Malakkappara area. For the adventurous, a safari through the deep forest and high ranges (Western Ghats) complemented with lots of hairpin curves takes you to the fascinating sculptured beauty of Malakapara tea gardens. Along the route, if you are lucky you may end up seeing some good wildlife.

Fort Kochi

Fort Kochi is a region in the city of Kochi in the state of Kerala, India. This is part of a handful of water-bound regions toward the southwest of the mainland Kochi, and is collectively known as Old Kochi or West Kochi. Adjacent to this is Mattancherry. To explore the historic town of Fort Kochi, there is no better choice than setting out on foot.

Relax, breathe deep, and come out in cotton dresses, soft shoes, and a straw hat. At each and every nook of this island steeped in history, there is something amusing awaiting you. It is a world of its own, retaining the specimens of a bygone era and still proud of those days. If you can smell the past, nothing can stop you from walking through these streets.

Vatanappilly beach / Cherai beach

The beautiful and natural Vatanapally beach fringed with swaying coconut palms is located about 20 kilometers from Thrissur town. This calm and pleasant beach on the coastal belt of the Thrissur district is a dreamy destination for tourists.

Chettuva boat cruise

Chettuva in the Thrissur district of Kerala is a backwater destination. A houseboat cruise in the backwater is a favorite choice of tourists to Chettuva. The backwater is dotted with small islets. Dense mangrove thickets on the banks enhance their beauty.

Chettuva has a prominent place in the colonial history of Kerala. The Dutch and the British had, in turn, camped here. The backwaters of Chettuva are much greener and calmer than the famous Alleppey, which is crowded with tourist boats.

Alappuzha backwater cruise

Alappuzha, a town with picturesque canals, backwaters, beaches, and lagoons, was described as one of the places known as "Venice of the East" by Lord Curzon. Alappuzha is an important tourist destination in India. The Backwaters of Alleppey are the most popular tourist attraction in Kerala. A houseboat cruise in these backwaters is a delightful experience.

It connects Kumarakom and Cochin towards the north and Quilon to the South. Alappuzha is also the access point for the annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race, held on the Punnamada Lake, near Alappuzha, held on the second Saturday of August every year, which is the most competitive and popular of the boat races in India.
