"Best way to see Kathmandu as solo female traveller "
Very safe and comfortable retreat centre- beautiful spacious outdoor yard. Vegetarian food was tasty and good variety.
Owners are very friendly and accommodating.
Showers have hot water.
Location is not so far out of town that you could not go visit when you are free on your own, if you want to.
Clean bed sheets
Instructors were fantastic and I gained a lot of knowledge of yoga. I also felt my body really open and am feeling way stronger now.
They have blocks, straps, cushions if you need it.
Sightseeing tours were sufficient and tailored to connect to the practice of yoga.
Massage therapist was great.
I enjoyed my experience with sound healing.
I was given opportunities to try out the whole variety of activities.
They also provide laundry services.
Honestly, I feel like I would not have enjoyed Kathmandu as much I had decided to tour it by myself without yoga and staying in alternative accomodations. It truly was the best way to see the city and I will consider returning to pursue other yoga courses.

"An amazing experience with like-minded souls"
I decided to book HYA as as the ending part after my explorations in Nepal. As I am still a novice solo traveler, I was amazed to be accepted by like-minded members and instructors at the HYA as we go through the yoga, meditation and planned outing programs together. The days in the retreat were spaced out and well planned, allowing ample time for exploration and different types of therapy and the location was just off main Kathmandu for peace and great views from the rooftop. It was with a heavy heart that I left this slice of peaceful paradise back to the real world, carrying the lessons and beautiful memories of the truly great brothers and sisters that I met there.

"A retreat that everybody needs!"
I was thinking twice if I will go to the yoga retreat because of a lot of concerns, it will be my first time in Nepal and I am honestly not in good shape to do any activities. But I'm glad I did because everyone in the academy including the other guests are so nice, welcoming and helpful.
I recommend this retreat to anyone who needs peace, relaxation, while being healthy and enjoy learning about Nepal.
Thank you Suyog and the team for this! And to all the wonderful inviduals I have met in this journey! Namaste 🙏🏾

They were so welcoming and went over and beyond to help me with anything I needed. My day was spent going to yoga classes followed by massages and various meditation classes. "Perfect yoga retreat"

"Relax and find piece in an family atmosphere "
I went there 8 days for yoga retreat.
The location of the academy and the building itself are really nice. It's near the jungle, the rooms are big and clean. You have warm water and a western style toilet.
The whole family of the academy is so lovely and nice. Suyog managed everything easily for you and he's always there if you have any questions or if you want to go on a tour. His mom serves delicious vegetarian dishes.
You have full body massages as well as oil based treatments and singing bowl therapy. All of them is pretty relaxing.
I enjoyed the yoga classes too and the teachers are so nice and really competent. I met a lot of great people. Some of them did the yoga retreat too and some were there for a yoga teacher program.
All in all it was an awesome experience which I definitely recommend. I learned a lot for my self and enjoyed every day with all those beautiful people.
No criticism only feedback: The daily plan varies every day. Sometimes you have singing bowl healing in groups or single, sometimes you have free time and therapy session alternates every day. Also the given times are just for an orientation. Could be a bit confusing for the first days. So just ask Suyog - he's the man with the plan.

"A truly superb experience !!!! "
I am really pleased to have chosen to do this teacher training course here in the Nepal .
This yoga teacher training course is very professional and every day you feel the progress you make, physically and mentally. I was thoroughly impressed with the property, the food, and the service that was offered for my yoga training. The gurus ( yoga teachers ) are very kind , patience and knowledge. Everything exceeded my expectation.
The amazing Simkhada family showed me the best hospitality.
I highly recommend this yoga center, One of the best place & classes had around the world !! I am leaving HYA with more confidence, more knowledge and more focus to live more healthy.

"Excellent experience!"
This family is very warm, even Yuki, the puppy, was a great addition. All the food was delicious. The treatments/therapy (massage, oil) were great. I was a beginner at Yoga so can’t say much about it but I learned a lot. Wonderful experience in general.

"Somewhat disappointing YTT 200"
The food was amazing. The flavors were always incredible, although, be prepared to eat the same thing everyday, not much variety. Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is right behind the academy which provides a nice view when you look that way. Some rooms are really nice and big with a balcony and nice view, but others are small, cramped and they smell weird.

ALLES!!!

"Great Yoga classes"
I liked the philosophy and the teaching technique. Very holistic, focused on all 3 aspects; your body, mind, and spirit. The center is located next to the Nagarjun Reserve so the sounds of birds and other animals is amazing, I enjoyed this during the meditations very much. The views of the forests from the Yoga Hall are beautiful. The staff is super nice.

The food was excellent, the family that runs it couldn’t have been friendlier and the yoga and therapy sessions were good. Despite the room not being the cleanest, the sheets were clean and the bed super comfy. And if the pool had been functioning, it would have provided a great unique feature that’s hard to find in Kathmandu.

"A truly inspiring experience "
This yoga retreat is very educational and teaches yoga as a lifestyle rather than yoga for exercise. Yoga that is about connecting with yourself and taking care of yourself.
Everyone, from the instructors to the therapist and chefs, was friendly, helpful and happy - there is no judgement here.
I felt very peaceful and positive the whole time I was there. The setting of the retreat was relaxing while still being within walking distance of many tourist attractions.
I would highly recommend this retreat to anyone looking for a mindful, uplifting experience.

"Beautiful Yoga experience"
I loved the whole experience starting from the people I met, the delicious vegetarian food, the yoga and especially the relaxing meditation course to the perfect location in the green sourroundings far away from the dusty city center. I was lucky enough to be part at the yoga teacher celebration wearing a saki and taking part in the ceremony. I will never forget this experience and 4 days was perfect for me even though I never did yoga before.

"Towards light "
Himalayan International Yoga Academy is a serene home like commune with very neat and clean rooms, amazingly kind and sweet staff and highly experienced teachers who Share the knowledge and practices in a very friendly way. I was here for a 4 days retreat and loved the yog asans, the meditations, the chantings. I made wonderful new friends that I will never forget and was getting a daily massage giving me so much relaxation. These few days made me become a lighter person, I learnt so much about myself and felt a beautiful vibe where I felt so connected with the lovely gardens , people , birds & everything around. I would recommend it to everyone. They guide you towards yourself in the most loving manner.

The teachers were very engaged, the food beautiful and the garden relaxing. The HIYA is also close to for ex. the monkey temple for afternoon excursions. It is simply a fantastic place to hide for a couple of days from the dusty and noisy Thamel.

I was received with a smile, with a lot of kindness. I like that Raj and a Mohan respect the tradition and gave me a lot of their knowledge. Its a place of quiet near by the confusion of katmandu thamel.
The food was great and everyone in the center were very gentle.
In the practice there is a lot of meditation.
I hope to return soon!

How can we describe one month in only a few words..! It was more than amazing, I am still feeling the energy and good vibes that everyone spreads there. That was definitely more than an incredible expérience, this is now the beginning and Dr Subodh and Raj are master to support you in that direction. The direction of a new way of living, a yogic way of life. Your life. And thank you To everyone, for your friendship, knowledges, trust and love. Namaste ! And see you soon.

"Start of a spiritual journey"
For me the most important was to have found a place to do my yoga teacher training where the spiritual aspect was highlighted. In this month I have build a firm foundation from where to continue my spiritual journey. I will forever be grateful to this experience and the wonderful people that have been part of it! The entire team at HIYA is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. From the very first day I felt at home :) And of course, I need to mention the GREAT food! I can definitely recommend this place in every sense :) (unless you want to practice yoga as a form of athletics. In that case this is maybe not the best place to go)

Food (amazing), Retreat (Massage, Steam bath), Yoga classes 2 times (but they DONT correct you in your asanas, only show how. And also it's not explained how the asanas work and what the mantras mean. Have to ask always afterwards if interested)
