"High expectations, Poor execution - Not recommended at all!"

The people that joined the class;

The birthday cake was a nice surprise;

The landscape around the house has lots of potential to relax and enjoy;

The cleanness of the rooms;

Lupita and Evelin were very nice and wanted to make us feel comfortable;

The music night we had with the mariachis;

***The potential to make it a real good experience is there - but I think a lot need to be fixed and adjusted to the travelers needs these days... (old pictures on WEB...)

"Many unmet expectations, maybe it was better years ago?"

We liked the group that we met. Thankfully they were great people and the afternoon excursions we set up off site were the best part of our trip. Two staff members Lupita and Evelyn were eager to make our stay pleasant but not always easy to find on site. Rooms were cleaned daily and fresh linens provided by these two.

"Perfect for the solo cook!"

Jon and Estalla have created a wonderful experience for an individual or for small group - I'd love to come back for a girls week! Casa Carmelita is safe, the instruction/cooking is straightforward and the resulting food delicious and actually very healthy. Jon was very helpful in organizing afternoon trips; there is a lot to see in Tlaxcala and surrounding areas and not very many tourists. The property is really beautiful, quiet and very secure. As a solo female traveler, I never felt at risk at any time. The driver (Jose) who picked the guests up at the airport was very nice and spoke a little English, and although our drive ended up as a bit of an adventure (the toll road was closed, turning a 90 minute drive into a 3 hour one), at no point did it feel unsafe and we were in constant communication with Jon. The cooking lessons are hands on and you will eat what you cooked for lunch and dinner (along with margartias or other drinks to your liking). I highly recommend this trip to anyone who has an interest in authenic Mexican cooking and is looking for something a bit off the beaten path.
