    Cooking Vacation In Andrano, Puglia

Emilio, his wife Clara, brother Michael and his "racing car" driving father Antonio, without a doubt they are lovely people who work very hard to make it a success.

    The airport transfers were good.

The wines were good and I really enjoyed a visit to the olive factory.

We enjoyed meeting the other guests and had some interesting conversations.

Feels like family at Olive Farmhouse

What a special way to explore this gem region of Italy! Emilio is the most gracious host, his family as well, so full of love and life! We truly felt like we were family from the moment we arrived. The residence was sparse yet charming, our rooms were comfortable & clean. We enjoyed our daily ‘aperativos’ on our private terrace, or shared the time with our neighbor guests who also became fast friends. The daily breakfasts/dinners were made in the style of local living, complete with fresh fruits & juices as well as homemade pastries. One of these, the traditional pasticciotto with its smooth custard like filling, was part of our culinary lessons. Daily excursions took us to Galipolli, Lecce, Otranto, the stunning seasides of Castro, Marina Serra, Ciolo & down to Leuca at the southern tip of Italy. We swam in the aqua blue waters of the Ionian & Adriatic seas and saw the incredible trulli houses in Alberobello, Ostuni and Cisternino, one more breathtaking than the next. We also toured a winery & had a refreshing wine tasting experience, later we had another cooking lesson to make maccheroni, which Emilio’s daughter Bianca put us to shame [playfully!] proving that it required a skill that did not come easily to us all. Gnocchi making was more our speed! It sounds like we did a lot but there was time to respite each day before dinner. Our last night was bittersweet as we knew we would have to say ‘arrivederci’ but also hopefully ‘ci vediamo presto’!

    PS congrats Michele & Chiara

Amazing getaway at Castiglione Olive farm in Puglia area

I loved that the entire family welcomed us into their home, and it was such a great way to explore Puglia region with Emilio, Michele, and their dad Antonio. Clara (Emilio's wife) and the children were so friendly and sweet. We explored so many beautiful places, Ostuni, Gallipoli, Otranto, wine tasting at Castel de Salve and my absolute favorite the beaches along the southern coast of Adriatic sea. Our meals were spectacular, always paired with local wines. It was one of the best travel experiences I have ever had, I would love to go back and see my new friends and see more of the gorgeous scenery of Puglia. We met some wonderful new friends while there, it was a great trip! Grazie Mille, Emilio and family!

My wonderful week at Tenuta Linazza

Our gracious hosts, Emilio and Clara De Matteis, along with their family support staff, were devoted to providing a wonderful experience for all guests, while providing flexibility for individual desires. They were all completely charming and accommodating. Since this area is their family home, they’re very knowledgeable about the history of Puglia and the most interesting places to visit and explore. We had offsite cooking lessons with local experts, a wine tasting and vineyard tour nearby, and several excursions to the many beautiful beach cities in Puglia, all with our private guide. Swimming and boating in the beautiful, clear Adriatic Sea were highlights. Our accommodations were new, clean and comfortable, with a private patio for spending quiet time and a lovely pool for sharing. The meals were delicious and focused on local crops and specialties. The week was amazing in so many ways. I’m writing this after several weeks of traveling to other places and I’m touched by my memories. Thank you Clara and Emilio. I’m sending hugs, Brenda

We had a wonderful stay at Tenuta Linazza!

Our hosts, Emilio and his wife Clara, could not have been more thoughtful, kind and attentive during our stay at the farm. It was like having our own private tour guides for our introduction to Puglia. We had great food and learned so much about the region. I felt like we were saying goodbye to family by the time we left for home.

    Paradise in Puglia

This was one of my favorite trips of all time! I wanted to combine culinary experiences with outdoor adventures, and to see Puglia like a local. The olive farm is such a beautiful, peaceful escape; and Chef Emilo's meals were perfection. Each day after breakfast, we were escorted to a new town for a bit of history and sightseeing followed by alone time to beach, dine and shop. However, I didn't spend any time alone because my fellow travelers became like family in such a short time. They limit the group size to give you an intimate local experience. We visited, were educated and sampled local family run businesses: mozzarella makers, Castel di Salve winery, Benedetto Cavalieri durum wheat pasta, Maglio chocolates and a local pizzeria. We learned about the family's farm and how they make olive oil. I want to return during harvest season. Between touring and dinner there was time to relax and enjoy the pool. Another highlight for me was joining Chef Emilio in the kitchen to learn how to cook authentic Italian dishes. I felt at home and was sad to leave the family and their amazing hospitality. I highly recommend this trip if you're looking for an authentic Italian experience.
