Day 1: Forests and orchards
Phrao Outdoor will pick you up at your hotel / accommodation.
Along dual tracks and some easy single trails we ride to the Mae Kuang Dam east of Chiang Mai where we meet a huge teak forest. Along winding forest trails and a quiet paved backroad, we cross the forest and head towards the Phrao Valley where we ride across huge mango and longan orchards to the small province town Phrao. After lunch in a local restaurant we continue to Chiang Dao.
On a paved road we cut through a mountain range, to turn on a small secondary road along picturesque limestone mountains which bring us to our last off-road section for today. On winding trails through woodland, we get to a mystic dark bamboo forest with countless single racks. Arriving in Chiang Dao we check in at our resort where we stay for the night.
Day 2: High peaks and stunning views
After a short visit of the Chiang Dao Cave we enter the Huai Nam Dang National Park. A steep narrow road along the majestic mountain Doi Luang brings us to the valley of Mueang Khong where our dirt section of today begins.
We ride to the end of a scenic valley where we climb up high on the mountains of the Huai Nam Dang National Park, passing slopes with countless orange trees and the Lisu hilltribe village Huai Nam Dang.
We arrive on a height of 1600 meters where we meet the famous Pai Road #1095. Let's swing down the last 25 kilometers to Pai!
Day 3: Recharging your battery, sightseeing, and chill
We stay in Pai today to explore some of the main attractions around this 'special place', feed elephants, visit a view point, a Chinese Village and the Bamboo Bridges out of town. Before we enjoy the sunset at the famous Pai Canyon you can spend the afternoon just chilling in a café or at a public swimming pool.
Day 4: Mountain forests, river crossings, and jungle
With a 60 kilometer ride on the dirt road that connects Pai and Wiang Haeng close to the Burmese Border we begin our last tour day. After crossing the young Mae Taeng River a sometimes quite challenging trail of 30 kilometers in native jungle with steep hills, creeks, and ruts might give you some unforgettable moments.
At the end of this stunning section we pass through Mueang Khong again and go on another long dirt trail to the 'Elephant Valley' and Mae Taman. From here, we follow the paved road along the Mae Taeng River towards Mae Taeng.
It's time for some final dirt! After a coffee stop at the Mae Ngat Dam we cross the valley riding on a wide flat dirt road passing banana farms and rice paddies. The last kilometers back to our base we will follow paved roads or ride some more trails in the hills bordering the northern end of the Chiang Mai Valley.
Let's see how full your batteries still are at the end of these 4 days!
