Piemonte Motorcycle Tours offers this exclusive motorcycle tour in Northern Italy. This is a unique “rural” motorcycling experience with Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiasts in mind. The ride comprises a series of hub rides starting and finishing at your luxury B&B accommodation. In this tour, you will cruise along stunningly scenic routes, through medieval villages, pass through the famous vineyards of Barolo and along the “Italian Riviera”, and stopping at tranquil coastal villages along the way. Besides, a visit to a local winery for a wine tasting experience is included in this tour and a perfect opportunity to sample the famous culinary delights of this prized region of northern Italy. On top of that, this tour includes an added bonus of a two-day ride to the “northern lakes” and a brief visit to Switzerland along the way.
You will be accommodated mostly at Cascina Belbo during the tour, except in day four, where you will stay at a quaint family-run hotel overlooking the lake in Bellagio. Therefore, there is no need to pack or check out each day and no luggage to carry except for a small overnight bag required on day four.
Cascina Belbo is a biker friendly “luxury B&B” that has received various awards for consistently achieving high ratings from travelers. It is tastefully renovated internally to provide in-house luxury bed and breakfast accommodation. All rooms have their own private bathrooms.
Arrival in Italy and collection from Turin Airport (TRN). Afterward, there will be a luxury minibus transport to “Cascina Belbo” and check-in. After settling in, there will be a short briefing about the tour program and time for any questions. Evening meal at a local restaurant.
Breakfast, followed by a leisurely cruise to the hills, vineyards, and ancient villages around Barolo. There will be a brief stop in the Roman town of Alba for a light lunch and then, back on the bike into the hills for a scenic route through more vineyards ending back at base in the late afternoon. There will be a brief time to freshen up and change followed by dinner at a local restaurant.
There will be a twisty ride down to a nearby market town. Then, a ride along the Tanaro valley with long sweeping curves to the town of Garessio. At this point, you will take a comfort break before heading into the forested foothills of the Maritime Alps that fringe the Ligurian coastline. A beautiful winding road takes you down to the “Italian Riviera” where you will follow the coast road stopping at a small town for a late lunch. You will continue to follow the coast road for a while then head inland and up into the “Langhe” hills again for a brisk ride back to base. Time to change and freshen up followed by dinner. Remember to pack an overnight bag for tomorrow’s ride to the north.
Ride north through the wine region of Asti (famous for the sparkling wine, “asti spumante”). Ride past the outskirts of Milan on to the city of Como along the shores of Lake Como. You will follow the winding shoreline road to Bellagio where you will stop for the evening in a quaint family run hotel overlooking the lake.
There will be a short ride down to the ferry terminal on the lakeshore. Drive the bike onto the ferry for a short ten-minute crossing then head up into the hills towards the Swiss border and Lake Lugano. Arriving in Lugano in the late morning, you will have a short stop for a coffee then continue your journey along a scenic riverside road crossing back into Italy and onto the third and final lake of this ride, Lake Maggiore. You will cross the lake by a ferry then follow the shoreline passing some majestic palazzos and hotels near Stresa. You will stop for a late lunch on the waterfront then continue on your homeward bound leg, arriving back at Cascina Belbo in the early evening for a well-deserved rest.
You will have a relaxing local ride to some characteristic villages, antique coffee shops, and the wine town of Barbaresco, home to the famous Gaja winery. Stopping for lunch along the way in Alba followed by an ice cream in the best gelateria on the planet (Mike’s personal opinion), then a winding ride back through the vineyards of Barolo and back to base at Cascina Belbo.
There will be no riding day but you will have a minibus excursion to a local winery and a wine tasting session followed by lunch at a typical Piemontese restaurant. Returning to base in the early evening - you will have a light supper / pizza and farewell drinks at the end of an adventurous week.
Transportation to Turin Airport (TRN) for the return flight.
You will be riding on asphalt roads. The terrain is mostly hilly and the roads will be narrow in places, mostly single carriageway. There are many curves and tight hairpin bends, but mostly are traffic-free. There will be occasional gravel surfaces when parking or stopping at viewing points. The minimum skill level required is intermediate and participants should be capable of handling a “heavy” motorcycle on tight curves / switchbacks.
During this tour, you will have a minibus excursion to a local winery and a wine tasting session followed by lunch at a typical Piemontese restaurant.

A certified “Safe Rider”; Mike regards the safety and comfort of each guest rider and their passengers of paramount importance.
The location of this ride is in Piedmont, North Italy (“Piemonte” in Italian). The literal translation of Piedmont means “at the foot of the mountain” and accurately describes the terrain. Based in a restored / converted farmhouse, Cascina Belbo, you are in the heart of the “high Langhe” region at 750 meters above sea level. There are numerous hillside roads which surround this location and wind their way through hazelnut groves and vineyards which stretch in all directions from your accommodation. There are endless great riding roads literally on the doorstep (too many to enjoy on one short visit).
The region is a “foodie” paradise famous for its exquisite cuisine and is home to the prized white truffle of Alba; the truffle season is in autumn and restaurateurs travel from around the world to Alba for a chance to buy white truffles for their restaurants. The other famous products of the region are hazelnuts; the nearby town of Alba is home to Ferrero the chocolatier. However, the region is probably most renowned for its world-class red wines and is the origin of Barolo, Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Barbaresco wines.
All breakfasts are served during this tour.
