Program

In the last years, a lot of new roads have been built in the Himalayas and quite a few new passes have been made passable to vehicles. It opens for bikers, some areas which earlier could only be reached after days of trekking in the mountains. On this tour, you can expect new tracks, passes, and highlights never offered before on any organized tour. You will be reaching altitudes exceeding 4,000 meters multiple times, and riding over the highest passes in the world. The route covers all of the highlights of the ancient Buddhist kingdom of Ladakh, as well as the most beautiful spots in the Himachal Pradesh region.

Day 3 (210 kilometers / 130 miles): Lamayuru - Padum
Day 4 (183 kilometers / 114 miles): Padum - Jispa
Day 5 (150 kilometers / 93 miles): Jispa - Losar / Chandrataal Lake
Day 6 (100 kilometers / 62 miles): Losar - Kaza
Day 7 (100 kilometers / 62 miles): Kaza - Tabo
Day 8 (190 kilometers / 118 miles): Tabo - Sang La
Day 9 (200 kilometers / 124 miles): Sang la - Jibi
Day 10 (100 kilometers / 62 miles): Jibi - Parasar Lake

Motorcycles available for this tour

The tours use Royal Enfield Himalayan or Classic 550 bikes only. All bikes are checked and serviced before the start of the tour to make sure that only good bikes are used for the tour. Minor repairs like brake shoe, spark plug, clutch plate, tubes, cable (1 set only), and engine oil are included in the cost. However, if more breakages happen due to rough handling, accidents, theft, etc., the clients will have to bear the cost.

Instructors

Rahul Chauhan (MAT)

With an interesting story behind his peculiar nickname that he loves to narrate when asked, Rahul Chauhan a.k.a MAT is very well-known and respected among the Indian biking fraternity. A doctor by education and a traveler at heart, he lives life as simple village boy. MAT has been riding through the length and breadth of India since the late 90s. His knowledge and experience of traveling in India and Asia is unparalleled. He is also a bit of a grease monkey and loves getting his hands dirty, modifying, and restoring old bikes and cars occasionally.

Rohit Chauhan

Rohit Chauhan is the younger brother of Rahul Chauhan who has been running this company since 2002. He takes care of all 4x4 camping, hiking, and tracking tours. He is a good biker too, hosting and guiding many tours of Planet Way Round at the Himalayas and west India. Apart from touring and exploring, he is a very good painter. He studied Pathology and tours in the free time of his job.

Meals included in the tour: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Breakfast – Your daily breakfast will be at the hotels where we stay.
Lunch – Daily lunch will be at small midway joints or it will be a picnic lunch at some places where the team will cook food for you and serve it hot.
Dinner – Your daily dinner will be at the hotels / camps / guesthouse where you stay. Dinner in Leh is not included in the package as there are lots of good local restaurants in both cities where you can go out and enjoy a meal.

Food is a very essential part of these trips. Planet Way Round makes sure that the meals are delicious unless you ask for dull meals. You are also permitted the choice of veggie or non-vegetarian meals. Planet Way Round suggests that you consume only the bottled standard water that the team will carry for you.
