Step into the past and experience colonial charm at our 150-year-old villa, once the residence of the village chief. Fully renovated in 2015/2016, the villa boasts a living room, dining hall, veranda, and open living area.

The property consists of the main villa and the lodge, just a 2-minute walk from each other. The lodge was the original home of the colonial treasure's first occupier, while the villa, with 8 rooms (2 suites and 6 deluxe rooms), a dining hall, lounge, verandahs, and spa, was built by the son for his growing family.

Each space was thoughtfully restored to a contemporary colonial style with guests' comfort and modern needs in mind. The lodge features both Standard and Deluxe rooms, all beautifully furnished with luxury bathrooms.

Here, guests can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in a lush, idyllic countryside setting, surrounded by verdant greenery. The nearby Madu River, one of Sri Lanka's largest wetlands, and the popular beach town of Bentota are just a short drive away, offering the best of both worlds. Relaxation and rejuvenation are easily found here, amidst the serene and tranquil atmosphere.

The property itself is an expansive 30-acre plantation of rubber, coconut, cinnamon, and black pepper, home to rare local and migrant birds, butterflies, and an array of tropical flora and fauna. Our open yoga sala, surrounded by nature, is the perfect setting for yoga and meditation classes, as well as Buddhist poojas. We specialise in the ancient art of Ayurveda, utilising nutrition, relaxation, and herbal treatments to heal both body and mind.

At just 80 kilometres from Colombo, they offer the perfect escape from the city, where guests can experience the beauty of Sri Lanka's countryside and indulge in a range of healing practices, all in one unforgettable location.

Food

At Plantation Villa, they take pride in offering guests freshly made Ayurvedic meals using only the finest produce, most of which is grown in their very own gardens. From the moment you step into the dining hall, you'll be met with the tantalising aromas of spices and herbs, expertly blended together to create dishes that are as nourishing as they are delicious.

The chefs carefully select the freshest ingredients, such as organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs, all grown in our garden without the use of harmful chemicals. These ingredients are then expertly combined using traditional Ayurvedic techniques, resulting in dishes that are both healthy and flavorful. Whether you're enjoying a hearty lentil soup, a colourful vegetable stir-fry, or a steaming bowl of coconut curry, each dish is prepared with your health and wellbeing in mind.

At Plantation Villa, they believe that food is medicine, and that the right combination of ingredients can help to balance the body and promote overall health and wellness. So come and join in at the table, and experience the healing power of fresh, Ayurvedic cuisine.

Spa treatments

The retreat package includes rejuvenating Ayurvedic Abhyanga massages and a refreshing steam baths at no additional cost.

During the Abhyanga massage, the trained therapists use medicated herbal oils tailored to your body type and doshas. The massage helps to eliminate deep-seated toxins from your joints and tissues, promoting overall detoxification and delaying the aging process. Additionally, the massage nourishes, strengthens, and lubricates your joints, making them more resilient to wear and tear. Your skin will also benefit from the massage, as accumulated toxins are released, leaving your skin looking healthy and clear.

The Vashpaswedanam steam bath, which uses medicinal plant leaves, is another special treatment included in the retreat. This steam bath effectively removes impurities from the body, aids in weight loss, and can improve the appearance of skin conditions like acne. By dilating and cleansing your pores, the steam bath effectively removes build-up and leaves your skin looking refreshed and radiant.
