At Gites de Source, you will sleep in well-appointed bedrooms, which are spread out between the three country cottages. There is a choice of bedrooms available to choose from: private double ensuites for single or double occupancy or shared twin bedrooms suitable for two participants sharing.

The yoga studio looks out onto a beautiful vista of rolling hills and vines. In warmer weather, some of the yoga classes will take place around the large saltwater swimming pool, which has stunning views to help you reconnect with nature.

Program

This retreat will be facilitated by the husband-and-wife team, Claude and Linda. All the yoga classes will be instructed by Linda who is a 500+ hour Yoga Alliance certified instructor who has been practicing yoga for almost 30 years and teaching regular classes since 2017 at Primal Health Yoga. The yoga classes on this retreat will be a varied mix of Vinyasa Flow, Yin Yoga, and yoga Nidra.

The classes will be offered at all levels with adjustments suitable for all needs. Beginners are most welcome and will be guided and supported throughout. This retreat will be small, with a maximum of 8 participants.

Linda is a fully qualified and experienced nutritional therapist and will do her best to support your nutritional needs. For this particular retreat, the yoga classes will take place in the garden room and/or around the pool.

What to expect:

  • 5 nights accommodation: Stay in the cozy rural cottages, with options for private or shared bedrooms and private ensuites.
  • Nutritious vegetarian meals: Enjoy delicious vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and dinner included in the price. Unlimited herbal teas, coffee, water, fruit snacks, and healthy treats are also available.
  • Gentle yoga flow classes: Participate in 3 sessions focusing on breathwork, balance, and flexibility.
  • Yin yoga classes: Join 3 classes designed to stretch the fascia and lubricate the joints.
  • Guided meditations: Experience 2 sessions based on the principles of Yoga Nidra for deep relaxation and mindfulness.
  • Pilates classes: Engage in 2 classes aimed at developing core stability and strengthening the small muscles of the back.
  • Nutritional workshops: Attend 3 informative sessions on balancing blood sugars, improving digestion, and supporting immune health.
  • Take home a free e-book packed with nutritional advice, menu planning for one week, and lots of healthy recipes.
  • Cultural excursion: Enjoy a cultural visit with lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Guided nature walk: Explore the beautiful surroundings on a guided nature walk.
  • Free time for relaxation: Spend time reflecting, journaling, reading, or simply relaxing in the serene gardens or by the large saltwater swimming pool.
  • Instruction: All classes and nutrition presentations will be conducted in English, with French assistance available where needed.

Day 2

  • 08:00 - 09:30 A gentle yoga flow class focusing and breath and movement. Class adapted to both beginners and improvers with hands-on assists

  • 11:00 - 13:00 Free time to relax in the gardens or by the pool or participate in the guided nature walk around the area
  • 13:00 Lunch
  • 14:30 - 15:00 Nutrition presentation/workshop: Balancing blood sugars for better energy levels, avoiding diabetes, improving cognitive function, and much more
  • 15:00 - 19:00 Free time
  • 19:00 Shared evening meal at the main house.
  • 21:00 Guided meditation practice for sleep (based on the principles of yoga Nidra)

Location-wise, although it is located in the peaceful rolling hills of Charente-Maritime, among vines and sunflowers, Gites de Source is only one hour from the beautiful city of Bordeaux, one hour from the Atlantic coast, and 30 minutes from the beautiful Medoc wine region.

Food

Linda is an experienced nutritional therapist who, along with her French husband Claude, will do her best to make sure that you enjoy both healthy and tasty local foods. You will be the guests of Claude and Linda for all your meals but also have full cooking facilities available in your cottage. Meals are vegetarian-based, organic and where possible, they will use their own vegetables, fruits, and other local produce from the region.

All meals will generally be taken outside, weather permitting, on the large terrace or the big dining room space inside the main house.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport (BOD). Ryan Air has a regular flight service to Bordeaux. If your flight dates don’t correspond with the retreat timetable, it is also possible to stay an extra night at the retreat (not included in the price and will depend on availability).

Please also note that the venue is not within walking distance of any shops, (though e-bikes are available) or there are many reasonably priced hotels in Bordeaux city.

Arrival by train

You can also arrive by train at either Montendre station or Jonzac station where Primal Health Nutrition & Yoga will pick you up free of charge depending on arrival time.
