Main yoga shala

The centerpiece practice space, designed and built specifically for yoga sessions but also host to meditation sittings, breathwork practice, learning discussions, and video and slide presentations. It can operate as one whole 150-square-meter space or be divided into two or three smaller spaces.

It carries a special energy from years of dedicated practice on beautifully sustainable bamboo floors, with large open windows keeping it light and airy, opening at one end to the meditation garden and at the other to the pool garden overlooking the beach. It is fully equipped with all types of yoga props as well as inversion swings, TRXs, and rope harnesses.

Beachfront yoga shala

Many of the daily yoga, meditation, breathwork, and core classes happen here, with over 60 square meters of practice space and the sounds of the ocean from just steps away.

Cycle studio

Samahita’s purpose-built, soundproofed, air-conditioned indoor cycle studio is equipped with 21 Schwinn carbon blue top-of-the-range bikes and a mega sound system. Best is the view - right to the beach. For the self-silent-cycle, they open up the doors so the morning breeze flows in.

Fitness loft

This loft space functions as open-air or closed-off from the elements. It has a view of the beach, a large mirror on the back wall, dance bars around its perimeter, hard flooring, and solid steel structural beams, perfect for all types of fitness, dance, inversion swing, and yoga classes.

Cabana beachfront shala

At the beach, next to the pool, exists an extra space private lounging and dining through the day. A perfect beachside yet shaded personal read or workspace.

Beachfront lounge

Another part of your reason to be here is to chill. This lounge is the perfect spot to do nothing, sit and read, or lay back and listen to music. The ideal space to relax and hang with your partner or take time alone. Its open-air quality lets you enjoy the sea breeze, feel the tropics, with a view of the beach.

Beachfront swimming pools

The two saltwater swimming pools are a stone’s throw from the beach and fully equipped with sun loungers and shaded areas. There is an additional shallow pool for the kids or grown-ups that just want to sit immersed in the water before jumping back into the steam room or taking part in other activities.

Herbal steam room

The herbal steam room uses a blend of Thai herbs (Samonpi) to add the therapeutic effect of steaming. It is on every evening, after the sunset, but can also be requested for use during the daytime. Next, to the pool, its two round windows look out to sea. Enjoy your steaming session with dips in either the pool or the sea.

Meditation garden

Next to the main yoga shala rises an impressive Bodhi tree, similar to that which the Buddha sat under for enlightenment. It is a perfect secluded space for quiet contemplation or personal meditation sessions. They also have a traditional Vedic Fire (yajna) shala for certain mantra chanting rituals. Here, on many occasions, they conduct a fire ceremony, a practice that ignites an extremely positive charge into the earth and surrounding vibration.

Eco-life boutique

They have carefully chosen the items they sell in the shop to fit a sustainable and conscientious approach. Products include their own Samahita Retreat creations such as t-shirts, yoga mats, water bottles, and notebooks.

Program

The total self-care program is the best value package to optimize your Samahita experience. The combination of all the practices, food, and accommodation, plus a selection of therapies and treatments each day enhances your time for renewal and destress while here.

You will have dynamic group classes in the morning, Restorative with breath, core, and cycle classes in the afternoon, morning meditation and breathwork with the option to participate in an evening meditation, and personal time to relax, read, and enjoy the beach. There are three therapies, three infrared saunas, and one float therapy session during the retreat. All other treatments are fully available each day.

YogaCoreCycle

YogaCoreCycle offers a completely holistic approach to your body, breath, and mind. Your health, fitness, and overall well-being are supported through a broad spectrum of physical activity, breathwork, and mindful meditation practices in a dedicated and natural environment with life-giving delicious food. Samahita’s signature program has been developed to give you an optimal balance of activity and rejuvenation based on their experience and expertise in yoga and functional fitness.

Location

Samahita Retreat is located on the south coast of Koh Samui, a tropical island in the Gulf of Thailand that still has long stretches of pristine beaches and unspoiled land. The ideal setting for Thailand holiday packages is only about an hour away from Bangkok by air, an hour plus from Singapore, and three hours from Hong Kong. Koh Samui has the allure of a remote island paradise but with the accessibility of the region's most popular destinations.

Situated on Laem Sor beach, Samahita Retreat is surrounded by towering coconut trees in a quiet and spacious area with incredible sunrises and sunsets that play with the colors of the water, sand, and tropical fauna. Only a few hundred meters away is the well-known Laem Sor Pagoda, which houses the remains of Leung Poo Daeng, a realized monk.

The only other structures in the area are privately owned villas. As such, Samahita Retreat's beach is private and virtually undisturbed, creating a beautiful, peaceful setting for you to enjoy your Thailand yoga holiday and chosen wellness packages. The main shopping areas are still within easy reach, about fifteen to thirty minutes away by car or motorbike. Samahita Retreat's gentle setting inspires long, refreshing walks on the beach or through the meandering back roads.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Samui Airport (USM). Transfer from and to the airport is available for an additional cost of 31 USD.

Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways fly directly to Koh Samui from Bangkok. They operate flights every hour daily, and you can book your flights directly online. The first flight out is around 6 am and last flight is around 10 pm daily. One-way is around 4000 THB. Travel time is approximately one hour from Bangkok. There are direct also flights from Phuket, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Hong Kong.

Arrival by ferry

For a more affordable route to Koh Samui fly from Don Muang Airport in Bangkok to Suratthani on the mainland and take the ferry.

From Suratthani Airport there are plenty of transfers (approximately 1 hour) to bring you by coach to the Ferry (1.5 hours). You arrive in Nathon, Koh Samui.

Arrival by train

Bangkok to Samui: Trains for Surathani (which actually stop in Phun Phin, 14 kilometers west of Surathani) leave from Bangkok’s Hualamphong station. The 6:20 pm (rapid) and the 7:15 pm (express) trains are most convenient, as they arrive at 5:28 am and 7 am, allowing you plenty of time to catch an 8 am boat to Koh Samui. The bus/ferry journey will be an additional three hours once you’ve arrived in Surathani. Songserm offers a joint ticket (train, bus, and boat) for around THB B1,300, which lands you in Koh Samui by 11 am.

The ferry journey from Donsak pier is 1 1/2 hours. Donsak is 30 minutes from Surathani. Tickets for the train can be booked at Bangkok Airport, Bangkok Railway Station, and many travel agencies in Bangkok. To purchase your train tickets in advance, Asia Discover Thailand can arrange for the tickets to be mailed or to be picked up at your Bangkok hotel. Allow at least one month before your departure date to arrange for train tickets.

Samui to Bangkok: Take the 2 pm boat from Nathon to the mainland, and a connecting bus will take you from the pier to the train station in Surathani. Tickets purchased from agents in Samui normally include the boat, bus, and train fares. The ticket is cheaper if you go to the station yourself, but there is a good chance the train will be fully booked as much as a week in advance.

Airport: Samui Airport Airport transfer available: Samui Airport (US$ 31 per person) Additional charges may apply. You can request this in the next step.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
